People jumped from their chairs quickly
moving out of the way of the two men rushing in.
They moved really fast knocking over
chairs and tables. People panicked rushing blindly toward the door. Josie and
Brooke got up and moved quickly, after they realized I hadn't moved and was
still sitting there.
I couldn't help staring at one of the
men who came rushing through the door after our server, he's tall and lean, he
had dark brown hair and there's this red glow around him. It's so weird I've
never seen anything like that before.
They pulled out guns and opened fire inside
the restaurant shot after shot.
The sound of the gun shots reminded me
of the nightmare I had last night and I froze completely in fear. Images
flooded my mind. The crying woman, the sounds of guns and screams of terror
filled my ears.
Bullets passed by hitting furniture and
breaking the windows. Running through the back doors the men chased 4 other
servers.
After a moment I got up and ran after
them.
Why am I running after them when I
should be running away from them.
Pushing open the back door I find them
in the kitchen jumping between counters ad stoves both groups now shooting and
dodging and deflecting the bullets with pans.
My mouth dropped the six of them moved
faster than anything I've ever seen.
People can't dodge bullets can they?
That's only in movies.
But I'm watching these men dodge
bullets like it's second nature.
Something about the dark brown haired
man felt off. I knew him. I could see a new glow emanating from the servers now.
It was a black glow. The sight of them made my heart race.
"Seri, what the fuck are you doing?"
Josie whispered jerking me down. "Let's go."
"No there's something I have to see." I
say when the dark brown haired man looked me right in my eyes and looked
shocked to see me. After they take off out the kitchen side door followed by
Camio. I go to follow but I was jerked back by Josie.
"What the hell? What are you so
desperate too see? Is it worth your life?" Josie said yelling at me.
"Let go" I shouted.
"No you get your ass out of here with
me right now!" Josie wasn't taking no for an answer she dragged me out of the
kitchen and out the front door. Running across the street to join Brooke who
was rocking back and forth.
"What the fuck? Was that Seri?" Josie
yells. "Look at Brooke! Look at her?"
Brooke was trembling. Tears streamed
down her face. Her hair was wet from sweat.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what came over
me…" I shook my head, god I'm so disappointed in myself. What was I thinking?
"Well that was seriously fucked up and
dangerous. You want to die a virgin before you can even buy your first drink?"
Josie lectured.
"Did you see them glowing?"
"What? What do you mean?" Josie raised her
eyebrow clearly questioning my sanity right now.
"I'm serious, those guys that busted
in, one was glowing white and one was glowing red. And the guy that was glowing
red I swear to god, Josie I know him from somewhere."
"Where could you possibly have had a
chance to meet any guys like that?" Josie asked "I think you're in shock babes,
you're talking nonsense."
"Josie, I'm serious, damnit."
"I know and that was scares me, I've
got Brooke melting on ground and you seeing shit and chasing after men with
guns." Josie through her hands up "Am I the only sane one here?"
"Josie I'm telling you something was
weird about that whole thing."
"Dah, Seri, there was a gun fight in a
fucking taco restaurant." Josie rolled her eyes "what wasn't weird about that?"
"I guess we don't have to pay for our
meal?" I smirked looking over at Josie.
Brooke picked her head up, eyes red and
puffy "If they made us pay after that, I might shoot up the place."
Me and Josie both just look at her shocked
by her joke.
"Did you just crack a joke in the
middle of a meltdown?" I asked.
"I guess so." She chuckled.
"I need to buy a whole new outfit, this
one is covered in dirt and food and fear." Josie said dusting off her black
pants.
"Really you're thinking about shopping
after all of that?"
"Yes, and you need new clothes too. If
your mom sees us like this, she'd lose her mind, and you'd never be allowed out
of the house again." Josie said
"Yeah please let's never let this get
back to my mom."
"Let's not have it get back to any of
our parents, my dad's would keep me locked up for the rest of my life. I'd
probably never see the light of day again." Brooke added.
"You're right, I guess lets go shopping
after being involved a violent attack." I shrugged my shoulders. "Let's go, we
still have to drive back so we can eat dinner with my parents."
Walking back to the mall I try to
explain what happened.
"Listen, I didn't see the glow or
shadow at first, and when our server Camio walked away I saw him get pulled
aside and someone said something to him right before those other guys busted
in." I paused taking a breather, when I think about the nightmare, my heart
starts racing and I get anxiety. Swallowing I continue, "It wasn't until after
I had a flash back to my nightmare last night and after I could see the glow.
I'm telling you, the sense of familiarity I had was overwhelming, and it was
like this need to see more overpowered me and any bit of self preservation I
had."
"You know what, I believe you. You've
never lied to us before, so it doesn't make sense for you to start now." Brooke
responded.
"Really? Just like that? You both are a
perfect match. You're both crazy." Josie said.
"You know you're going to get more than
one outfit right?" Josie said glaring me.
"What ever you say. Let's have fun."
"Should we tell her or wait?" Brooke
asked.
"Tell me what?"
"Well I guess we'll have to tell her,
since she's gotta find an outfit for it." Josie admitted.
"Ha! I knew you guys were hiding
something. Confess."
"We're traveling too Eureka tomorrow
morning for a day at the beach and then after we have a concert at The Red Lion."
Josie started.
"We're taking you to see Bad Wolves!"
Brooke shouted interrupting Josie.
"Are you guys serious?" No freaking way
am I going to see my favorite band on my 21st birthday.
"Yep, and it's an intimate venue, it's
a more private show for a friend of theirs. That I just so happen to know,
because that friends dad works with my dad, and I may have been able to snag 3
tickets." Josie said proudly. "And so that's why you need a new outfit."
"Don't tell your mom we told you, she
wants to be there for the surprise reveal, so we have to put ion an act."
Brooke informed us.
"No problem, thanks for giving me the
chance to pick out the perfect outfit. And thanks for this I love you guys so
much!" I hugged both of them tightly.
"Ow, too tight!" Josie cried and Brooke
laughed.
"Sorry." I chuckled.
"When did you start lifting weights?"
Josie joked.
"I haven't"
"Well feels like you have." Josie joked
some more.
Heading into the mall we hit store
after store until going into a Celine store and I fell in love.
I found my outfit.
A black leather jacket with a flower
pattern patch on the back. A light blue long sleeve crop top that had a low
neck line, and a pair of washed out black denim high wasted jeans. Grabbing the
whole outfit I rush to the dressing room, passing my friends I say "I found it
you guys, I found the perfect outfit."
They follow me.
I slide my pants down my slender hips.
Adjusting my white lacy panties. I slide the denim pants on buttoning the waist,
it resting just below my belly button so you could still see my piercing. They
fit perfectly to my body making my ass look great.
The crop top hugged my body perfectly.
Putting on the jacket I walk back out in full display of my best friends.
"Oh my god, you look so hot." Josie
said "I'd fuck the shit out of you."
"Shut up oh my god, you're so gross
Josie."
"You do look really good Seri, this is
the outfit, it was made for you for this concert." Brooke said.
"You're trying to loose your virginity
aren't you?" Josie joked.
"I hate you." I glared at her furrowing
my brows.
Changing back into my clothes, we keep
shopping looking for clothes to change into before heading home.
I found a new pair of dark green fleece
leggings and an oversized cream colored cotton sweater lined with fleece, which
still matched my boots and kept me warm without my jacket.
Arriving at the car and loading our
bags, Josie decides it's best if she
drives us hoe, considering we're apparently in shock and shouldn't be driving.
We were didn't talk much most of the
ride, we blasted music with the windows down and the heat on high, singing along
to our favorite songs. It was so necessary for us to have this to wind down
after such a crazy day.
I played Bad Wolves for all of my
turns, I was so excited for tomorrow. This is the best birthday I think I've
ever had. I'm going to the beach and seeing my favorite band and I'll be so
close too!
I really do have the best friends in
the whole world.
It was dark by the time we got to my
street. My drive way was dark, my dad hasn't fixed the lanterns that lined the
road yet. He's been busy at the hospital, there's been more accidents recently
so Trinity's been busier than usual.
"Why do you live so far out in the
middle of nowhere? It's so shitty driving out here at night. I can't see
anything." Josie complained.
"I don't know, but I like it, the stars
are clearer here and the sound of the city is drowned out my the sounds of the
night."
"When is your dad planning to fix the
lights so I can see when I drive out here at night. It's super rude to make me
drive in the dark."
I rolled my eyes and laughed.
Walking through the front door we take
off our shoes and put them in the cabinet and hang our floats in the coat
closet next to the door.
"Oh hello hunny you're home," My dad yells
from the kitchen.
"You're late" my mom says walking out
of the kitchen coming up to hug us. "I'm glad you're home safe."
"Wow, you guys bought a lot." My mom
said smiling.
"Yeah, I might have went a little overboard,"
I awkward laugh rubbing the back of my head.
"I actually expected more, especially
since Josie was with you guys."
"Wow, Meredith, thanks for the love."
Josie joked putting her bags in the living room.
"No, I'm happy you actually spent money
Seri." My mother said "You never ask for anything really."
"I just don't want for much, you guys
give me a good allowance, so I buy things I really want. So I've never had to
ask."
"You're such a filial daughter." My mom
gave me anther big hug. "Let's go your fathers warming up dinner right now."
"Why are you guys so late?" My dad
asked.
"Traffic was bad leaving Redding, and I
had to make a lot of bathroom stops because of all the coffee I drank today." Josie
answered with such confidence in her lie.
Impressive, I always forget how
talented a liar she can be.
"Well drink less coffee." My dad joked.
"You're asking an awful lot of me
Joseph." Josie joked.
"Why'd you guys change clothes?" My mom
asked.
"We made a mess eating lunch at the
taco place so we bought new clothes to wear so we didn't walk around with nacho
cheese on our shirts." Josie answered.
Sitting at the table my mom asked
question after question about our day.
Josie took on the responsibility of answering most of the questions.
My dad does most of the cooking in the
house, since my mom could burn water if she is left unattended.
For dinner he made my favorite meal,
spaghetti and meatballs. My dad would make the pasta and sauce from scratch. He
also went to a butcher and would get the highest quality of beef and sausage to
make the meatballs. He picks up garlic bread from our neighbor who bakers in
exchange for work around the house. My dad liked to help out and the lady was
well in her 70's.
"Mr Kinsington, you make the best
spaghetti." Brooke praised my dads cooking. Her compliments always made him
soak in his glory. One of Brooke's dad's was a professional chef so it meant a
lot getting a compliment from her.
"You always know how to make everyone
smile." My mother said reaching over the table to pat Brooke's hand.
"So we have a surprise you." My mom
says getting up and walking over to the freezer. Pulling out a a cake, she
lights the candle and begins to sing in her out of tune voice and then everyone
joined in:
"Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to Seri,
Happy Birthday to you"
My friends and father clapped as my
mother brought the cake to the table.
"Make a wish." My mom said.
I take a deep breathe and close my eyes
'I wish for adventure come this new school year'. I wish to myself and blow out
my candle.
"What did you wish for?" My dad asked.
"If I tell you it won't come true, you
know the birthday wish rules."
