Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: A Web of Deceit

Arthur de la Morvayn couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Jerrold's warning had left him with more questions than answers, and he couldn't help but wonder what his brother's true motives were.

As he sat in his chambers, trying to make sense of Jerrold's words, there was a knock at the door. It was Randyll Wythers.

"My lord, I see you're still troubled by Jerrold's visit," Randyll said, his eyes narrowing with concern.

Arthur nodded, gesturing for Randyll to take a seat.

"What do you know about Jerrold's warning?" he asked, his voice low.

Randyll's expression turned serious.

"I think Jerrold is trying to drive a wedge between us, my lord," he said. "He's been acting strangely of late, and I fear he may be involved in something sinister."

Arthur's eyes widened in surprise.

"What kind of something sinister?" he asked.

Randyll hesitated, looking around the room nervously.

"I'm not sure, my lord," he said. "But I think it's connected to the nobles who have been opposing your father's rule."

Arthur's mind was racing with possibilities.

"Do you think Jerrold is working with them?" he asked.

Randyll nodded.

"I do, my lord," he said. "And I think we need to be careful. If Jerrold is involved with the nobles, it could mean that he's a traitor to the crown."

Arthur's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities.

"We need to investigate further," he said. "I want you to gather a team of trusted men and see if you can uncover any evidence of Jerrold's treachery."

Randyll nodded, standing up.

"I'll get right on it, my lord," he said.

As Randyll left, Arthur couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. What was Jerrold's game? And what did he have planned for the kingdom?

He stood up, pacing back and forth across the room. He needed to stay one step ahead of Jerrold, to anticipate his next move.

Just as he was starting to feel overwhelmed, there was a knock at the door. It was Sinji.

"Arthur, I heard about Jerrold's visit," Sinji said, her eyes narrowing with concern. "What did he say?"

Arthur filled her in on the details, and Sinji's expression grew more and more serious.

"I think we need to be careful," she said. "If Jerrold is working with the nobles, it could mean that he's in grave danger."

Arthur's eyes widened in surprise.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

Sinji hesitated, looking around the room nervously.

"I think Jerrold may be in over his head," she said. "The nobles are not to be trusted, and if Jerrold is working with them, he may be in grave danger."

Arthur's mind was racing with possibilities.

"We need to warn him," he said.

Sinji nodded.

"I agree," she said. "But we need to be careful. If Jerrold is working with the nobles, he may not be willing to listen."

Arthur's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities.

"We'll just have to be careful, then," he said.

And with that, he and Sinji set out to warn Jerrold, unaware of the danger that lay ahead.
