...
The two leisurely walked on the pavement side by side, with Muzan taking the outer side of the pavement limiting the risk of her getting hit by any cars, of course she would survive but what kind of husband would he be if he didn't take precautions.
"So where are we going? I assume since we're walking it's somewhere close, otherwise why would you make me walk at all when you have cars to spare"
She expressed, her tone barely hiding the displeasure, as she walked she maintained an incredible posture, and her delicate hands were placed gently on her lower abdomen as she walked at a steady pace.
She displayed an elegance and grace that would be expected of a beautiful noble lady.
"I figured since you usually sit in an office all day you'd appreciate a little walk, you also don't particularly like my servants and since it's one of them who usually drives me you probably wouldn't like it"
He explained as he gently grabbed her waist, halting her steps and moved to the side and allowing the other two people on the sidewalk to easily move past them.
"That's not entirely true, Rui and Akaza are always respectful so I don't particularly dislike them"
She said and paused before continuing.
"I dislike the rest because they look like trouble makers and make me uncomfortable"
She explained and he let go of her waist as they began moving, turning a corner and Muzan spotted a nearby restaurant.
In actuality he didn't plan anything, he had planned to see her much earlier in the day but Ume was being difficult and wanted attention so hence the late visit.
"hmm"
He hummed but inwardly he acknowledged that he did have a rambunctious bunch, although only about 6 of them actually serve him, three rebelled and seemed to create their own demons and took a some lowere moons with them which he didn't mind but it left him with only few reliable servants out of twelve.
"When you don't deny something, that makes it true, you know"
She said jokingly with a smile on her face.
"That's because what you said isn't false, and I'm not going to deny it and besides even if it was false I wouldn't force you to hang around them if you don't want to"
He informed her as they arrived before the restaurant, it was a good thing that her clinic was located near the nicer parts of Tokyo as such they could find a nice place for their date.
Although Muzan hadn't booked a reservation, a little bribe made sure to get them a nice table for two, it also helped that Tamayo was quite the beautiful lady and he was a handsome man, it made things quicker and easier.
"So how has work been? I believe it's been a few days seen we spoke face to face"
He began once they were properly seated, hhe looked over the menu as he was asking the question.
"It's been quite alright, one of my nurses has a fiance, which I think it's a bit odd since she started dating him about 3 months ago"
"That's certainly odd"
"Right? But I don't want to be the one who says anything as her boss"
"Well leave her be then, it's not like it affects you but if you want to offer advice be subtle about it"
He added and she rolled her eyes at him, she wasn't extremely close to her nurses, she maintained a moderate work relationship with them as such there are little things they can tell her and she can tell them.
"I'm not so close that I can comment on their personal lives, Muzan."
"You aren't close to them?"
"No, not that much"
He chuckled and she frowned wondering what was so funny.
"So you're an eavesdropper? Is that it?"
He laughed as he asked and she did her best to deny his accusations but she couldn't because she technically was, she heard the news from gossip amongst her nurses so she paid enough attention to commit the information to memory.
In the middle of Tamayo trying to justify herself the waiter came by and took their order, once that was done the two continued to talk leisurely, their conversation being more about mundane things and complaints.
…..
Up on the top of the Tokyo Tower, a beautiful landmark of the Tokyo area and has served as a place of interest for both locals and Tourists, a demon stood perched on its tip as the moon shone behind him, like some type of ninja as he focused his sight towards his targets.
Although typically Demons have superior eyes capable of seeing incredible distances ahead, this Demon in particular still had to use binoculars to properly see his targets as they were considerably far away.
"Alright, let's do this"
He said to himself, as he removed the incredibly pointy ice spear from his back and prepared for a throw.
Before he could fully commit, doubt crept into his heart, Attacking the demon king was surely a mistake, right?
"Nonsense, Muzan–Sama respects courage, the very fact you even tried will be enough to earn his respect, he might even gift you with his blood and make you stronger"
The voice was masculine, yet possessed a sense of seduction that made him question himself, although his "patron" was not technically with him right now however he could still hear his voice, via a telepathic link.
"I already took you side, why would he even consider showing me mercy?"
He questioned, and he heard the voice hum in slight displeasure.
"I gave you the spear didn't I? Not only that but you are a former lower moon and you've gotten stronger, with that ice spear made by my blood demon art, you're practically on par with myself, Muzan-Sama will see that and will want you on his side"
The voice spoke convincingly and Rokuro could not help but feel that his patron was correct, this was a gamble that would have rewards should it bear fruit.
The ultimate goal here was power, unlike the former upper moons, who had a higher upper limit when it comes to growth in strength, the lower moons had a lower limit, although they could get to same level of strength as an upper moon( provided said upper moon is complacent) they hit their limits of strength quicker.
This was why Rokuro needed Muzan's blood, because as the progenitor, only his blood could remove such limits. At least that was the theory he was told by his "patron".
"Well if you're a coward and don't want to grow anymore, then you're free to abandon this mission, I'm sure the other demons won't blame you at all"
Rokuro frowned, those who seek power often crave attention and recognition and Rokuro was no different, it also didn't help that now that there's no longer a rigid hierarchy the demons are more challenging and competitive.
If your reputation as a former lower moon falls, any demon could up and attack you simply because they think you're weak.
"No,no. I'll carry on, I'll get closer for accuracy too"
"Good idea"
He said, and the voice encouraged almost sounding sarcastic, but the demon didn't pick up on that. Rokuro moved swiftly, jumping from each building to the other with speed and stealth, making his way towards the targets
Even in the case that this gamble falls through, he was confident that he could easily escape because Muzan would most likely prioritise the safety of his lady over chasing him.
Rokuro found himself feeling a bit more confident, even if he fails should he manage to escape, he'll gain a new status within the demon circles and could possibly create his own small group.
It took the former lower moon little time before he was standing on top of a high rise building, and he was lucky that all the other buildings were had lower ceilings, giving him a clear view of his targets.
With a quick breath he took a stance and cocked back the spear on his hand, his grip tightened as his muscles did the same and with little hesitation he launched the spear and it whistled as it flew straight towards the intended target.
...
A/N: as you can see, it's not just the slayers that have an interest in annoying Muzan, but his former subordinates as well.
also his control over the demons isn't as absolute as in the OG, this is mostly because I thought it would be interesting,
