For almost a century House Targaryen has ruled over the lands of Westeros and in their time bringing both peace, prosperity, and tranquility to the land. King Jaehaerys I Targaryen, "The Old King", "The Conciliator", ruled for nearly sixty years over the lands of Westeros with his sister-wife, Queen Alysanne Targaryen. During this time they helped to expand House Targaryen's reach and influence over the realm, helping to prevent multiple conflicts and wars within the realm and built upon the legacy that Aegon I Targaryen and King Aenys I Targaryen put into place.
However, whilst Jaehaerys and Alysanne may have found it easy ruling over a realm that always seamed to want to tear itself apart, ruling over their family was a different story.
Over the many years that Jaehaerys and Alysanne were married they had many children, each a different personality from the others yet all still a headcase and unfortunately never outliving their parents. Despite having thirteen children, none of Jaehaerys and Alysanne's children would live long enough to outlive their parents. Yet they still managed to set the stage for the next Targaryen generation, one that would not only outlive Jaehaerys and Alysanne but prove more wild and uncontrollable than their parents and unfortunately bring upon a war greater than any has every seen in Westeros.
It began in 77 AC.
In the year 77 AC, Princess Alyssa Targaryen, daughter of Jaehaerys and Alysanne, gave birth to twin sons with her husband, Prince Baelon Targaryen. Twin sons whom they named Viserys and Aegon. The firstborn named Viserys and the second-born named Aegon. The day was more than a happy one, Alyssa and Baelon were now parents of their own and Jaehaerys and Alysanne had their first grandsons, their eldest sons Aegon and Aemon having only daughters.
Viserys and Aegon grew up in the company of their cousins born to their uncles Aegon and Aemon, and later in the company of their younger siblings born later after them. Many thought that the twins would take on similar personas yet their personalities couldn't be more different.Â
Viserys was a kind, caring, and considerate child. Thoughtful and gentle towards all who lived in the Red Keep. Almost to gentle. Though many loved Viserys' caring and thoughtful deminer, they also thought it was quite unusual as Viserys was quick to please people and did not like to upset people.
Aegon was the opposite. He was not kind nor was he caring. He did not care if he upset people, in fact he almost seemed to enjoy it. He was not humble, rather he was entitled.Â
