More days had passed by since Alisa became a married woman. It still hadn't sunk in her that things were going to change. She was worried that they their first day would become a mess due to their incompatible personalities since both of them were quite alike. However, her wild thoughts were unfounded as Raphkiel never once stepped into her house after they got married so it was peaceful and quiet. She actually felt annoyed at him with all the days that passed where he was ghosting her.
Not wanting to get stressed out for the sake of her baby, she eventually shoved him in the back of her mind and focused on her career instead. Running a company was hard, but thanks to her trustworthy best friend, Sylvia, she barely had anything to do in the company. In fact, her presence wasn't even required to be there. Even the employees didn't know about her. It felt like she was like a hidden boss— or more exactly, she was already one. Sylvia revered her like her goddess so she couldn't allow her pregnant friend to get tired from working.
They even argued about it before since Alisa was so bored of doing nothing in her office but sit all day. When Sylvia explained that she wasn't needed to do anything in the company unless former encountered a troublesome matter or fellow she couldn't solve and she had another role to do, she was curious. Now, the two of them were seated in the soft, comfy sofa while having coffee.
"Tell me, what kind of role are you really planning to give me?"
Sylvia grinned mischievously and said, "You'll be doing selling crucial information!"
Alisa was speechless. She eyed her friend suspiciously and thought that she had hidden motives. The latter laughed nervously upon getting seen through. "Wh-Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I can see that you're plotting something. Spit it out or I'll get angry."
Sylvia finally relented even though she was reluctant to do so. She even looked like she was about to burst in tears as she pleaded her. "I'm sorry. It's like this, Lissy. I want to build a secret network agency with you that would uncover crucial information. Although I can run the front company to the best of my abilities, I wouldn't be able to guarantee it that we're safe from dirty tactics of our rivals. But with your profound martial arts skills and intense hacking skills, I'm sure we can provide a solid defense for our company behind the scenes. Please...?"
Alisa took a deep breath. She had expected that it would be something shady as spying since it was supposed to be a hidden company, like something that belonged to the illegal circle. She looked seriously at her that caused her friend to slightly tremble. "You do remember that I'm pregnant, right? Although I am very strong, it's not good too much while I'm carrying my baby. I don't want anything to happen to my precious child."
"Don't worry, Lissy. You don't have to keep running and fighting enemies. You'll just be gathering information. I promise I won't put my friend in harm's way. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night either if something happened to you."
Sylvia was finally crying. Alisa's gaze softened as she tried to coax her while caressing her hair. "Alright, I'll agree to your plan. I can't promise it will run properly, though."
To her surprise, Sylvia immediately stopped crying like nothing happened and grinned widely at her. "You said it, okay? No taking it back now! Teehee~"
The way she stuck her tongue infuriated her. She had been fooled by her acting. Her eyelids twitched violently and slapped her head lightly. "You're really such a good actress. I won't mind putting you in so that we can benefit from your excellent talent."
"P-please, have mercy?"
"I'm gonna beat you to death. Come here, you fool."
Alisa attacked her with a tickle which made her rolling on the floor laughing so hard that tears came out from her eyes. After getting exhausted from their little playful cat-and-mouse game, the two slumped on the couch once again.
Alisa then spoke to her in a panting manner, "Let's leave it for now. I'm quite curious with managing the our available actors and actresses. How about I try it?"
"Eh? Aren't you afraid they're going to find out you're the boss?" Sylvia questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"What's wrong with them finding out? It's not like I'm some wealthy woman from a hidden family."
"But you're too beautiful! I doubt those lechers lurking in the company would be able to stay silent once they get a glimpse of your beauty. Even I pale in comparison to you."
Sylvia's serious and protective actions were so cute that she couldn't help herself but giggle. It felt so nice to have someone care for her. Alisa suddenly hugged her which surprised the latter.
"Then you're going to be my bodyguard for the whole duration of my pregnancy."
"Why don't you ask the child of the father to protect you instead? You just suddenly dropped a bomb on me, saying that you married someone a few days ago. Hmph!" She pretended to pout and ignored Alisa, but she only looked cuter than ever.
After their mixed discussion of several things, Sylvia finally agreed to let her help in managing the company under one condition. She didn't tell her and instead brought her to a secret dressing room installed in the office which was full of cosmetic products, branded dresses that costed several thousands of dollars, sets of wigs for both genders, and many more. What a cunning woman! She even dared to make the office her own wardrobe. The rich had weird ways of enjoying their wealth, she thought.
"What are we doing here in your wardrobe?" She asked with a frown.
"I've expected that this was going to happen sooner or later so I came prepared. You're going to disguise yourself as a man while you're managing the company. I'm way too smart for my own good, Aren't I?" She proudly patted her chest while smirking victoriously.
Alisa thought that this girl was quite delusional. However, she only chuckled in response as she didn't want to ruin Sylvia's little happiness. She had it rough with her family too. This was only the time she had been freed from the shackles of family matters.
"Whatever you say. Let's get on with it. I'm excited for my first day in work."
Sylvia did her makeover, moving her hands faster like a professional in styling her new appearance and applying light make up to make her look slightly different. In just a few minutes, Alisa drastically transformed into a handsome young man, with her girlish persona barely unrecognizable. She stared in awe at her like she was mesmerized by her own creation. Alisa could swear that her cheeks were slightly blushing right now. Did she really look too handsome?
She turned towards a mirror and she was shocked by what she saw. In the mirror, her reflection still portrayed an air of beauty, albeit in a more subtle, mysterious form filled with mixed masculinity and femininity. If she had to describe herself accurately, she was like a pretty boy since she didn't carry the obvious toned muscles of a man. The wig hid her loose, long silky hair that was tied neatly in a bun and was replaced by a short one that was neither too manly nor girly.
"I think I'm going to fall for you. Please divorce your husband and marry me." Sylvia cutely pounced on her but she pushed her face away.
"Enough with your playful antics. I get that I'm so handsome, but could you have just made me a little bit ordinary?"
"Eh, even if you say that, your looks are already topnotch and there was no way to reduce its alluring beauty." She pouted and complain.
She sighed in defeat. "Time to go."
The two marched out of the office and went down the floor where the artists were supposed to be meeting the CEO for their first day of work. Several eyes of the employees of Moontear Entertainment were fixed on the two of them. They wondered who was the handsome young man walking alongside their goddess, Sylvia Jiang.
Sylvia smirked proudly and gave off a thumbs up to Alisa, who could only shake her head in frustration. Lately, her already astounding beauty had even bloomed more after she found out that she was pregnant. People did say that a woman changes appearance frequently as how many times she changes her clothes.
As they arrived in the working studio, the artists lined up and greeted their new boss who poached them from the previous entertainment companies they were working with.
"Good morning, Miss Jiang!" They greeted in unison.
Some were curious and stared at the person beside Sylvia but couldn't dare to ask her who he was.
"Today will be the first day you're working for Moontear Entertainment. I expect you all to do your best and produce satisfying outputs. By the way, this guy here will be your talent manager. He is Ali—"
"Ahem!" Alisa panicked when Sylvia almost blurted out her real name, who also thought it was a slip of the tongue, and cleared her throat to interrupt her.
"Meet Alex Heindler. Be sure to listen to him, alright?"
"Yes, Miss Jiang. Nice to meet you, Mr. Alex!"
Alisa felt her blood burned. While it was embarrassing and hard to lie, she tried her hardest to act naturally. It was also quite exciting to be handling a real job that was so different from the daily bloodbath she always had.
"Today, I will be overseeing your acting so you better do a good job if you want your career to soar in greater heights, you understand? I'll do everything in my power to bring out the best of you."
All of them agreed with vigor, be it artists, crewmen, or the director of the movie they were going to make. It was such as sight that Alisa was pumped up for the rest of the working hours.
