Kaede and Mirei sit close at Mirei's room but with an emotional distance between them, both grappling with the events of the day. Kaede's mind races, overwhelmed with the pain of not debuting, the impending separation, and the uncomfortable reality that Mirei's dream would now mean less time for them together, but she also wants the best to support Mirei. She also feels an unsettling sense of guilt, the last thing she wants is to hold Mirei back. Mirei, sensing the depth of Kaede's inner turmoil, glances over with a caring look and breaks the silence.
"Wait here," she says gently. "I'll bring us some water."
Kaede watches as Mirei disappears into the kitchen. The flood of thoughts consumes her, everything feeling surreal, from her missed chance to the new, unavoidable distance that would separate them. She stares at the floor, mulling over her emotions, her hands lightly trembling as she wonders if supporting Mirei means stepping away.
Mirei soon returns, carrying two cups. She sits beside Kaede, handing her a glass. "Here, drink," Mirei encourages softly, offering a comforting smile. Kaede manages a small "thank you" before taking a sip, letting the coolness of the water ground her. They fall back into silence, though the air feels lighter now with Mirei by her side.
After a long pause, Kaede finally breaks the quiet, her voice hesitant. "So... when will you be moving to the dorm?"
Mirei checks her schedule briefly. "Tomorrow," she replies, her voice tinged with regret. She looks down, clearly not wanting to leave Kaede behind.
Kaede feels a pang in her heart. "That soon?" she whispers, trying to hide her shock. She takes a deep breath, forcing a weak smile. "I guess that means we'll have less time together… you'll be so busy now…" Her voice falters. "And it'll be… harder and dangerous for you to… you know, have a relationship…"
Mirei's eyes widen, understanding Kaede's unspoken words. "Kaede," she says, moving closer and lifting a finger to gently silence her. "Stop. Don't talk like that. Don't you dare doubt us." She gives a soft, affectionate smile. "You're not ruining anything."
Kaede sighs, trying to hold herself together. "I… I just want to support you as best I can, but… I don't want to be the one that gets in the way of your career. I... I-" Her voice quivers as she continues to let her emotions spill out, her words coming out jumbled and rushed until Mirei places a gentle hand on her cheek, guiding her into a tender, heartfelt kiss.
The warmth of Mirei's lips melts away Kaede's doubts, but for a brief moment, Kaede instinctively pulls back, worried about their situation. Mirei, however, only leans closer, deepening the kiss and pouring all her reassurance into the embrace. They both feel each other's heartbeat, a rhythm that seems to echo their shared desire to hold on despite the odds.
Finally pulling back, Mirei rests her forehead against Kaede's. "Kaede," she says, her voice filled with tenderness, "calm down, please… I love you more than anything. I won't give up on you." Her voice grows softer. "Unless you want to give up on me…" A tear slips down her cheek, betraying the vulnerability she'd been trying to hide.
Kaede's heart tightens as she sees Mirei's tears. How could she be so foolish, she thinks, to let her doubts cast a shadow on this precious moment? "I… I'm so sorry," she whispers, brushing Mirei's cheek. "I was such an idiot to let those thoughts get to me. I would never give up on you, Mirei. I love you more than words can say." She pauses, her voice trembling. "I'm sorry for making you cry on a day that should have been filled with only happiness… I want to be there for you… I just…"
Before Kaede can finish, Mirei leans in once more, silencing her with another kiss—this time deeper, and filled with both comfort and passion. Their emotions meld together as they sink into the moment, the warmth of each other's presence dissolving any remaining doubts.
They lean into each other, hands clasped, hearts beating as one, in a quiet exchange that words could never capture fully. "Thank you, Kaede, it was all I needed to hear," Mirei murmurs, her eyes shining as she pulls Kaede close, their bond stronger than ever, filling the room with love and understanding.
In the quiet of Mirei's room, as Kaede's gentle touches and soft whispers melted into the night, their world felt suspended in a moment only they shared. After Kaede had slowly slipped off Mirei's shirt, she took a deep breath, steadying herself. Her usual shyness lingered at the edges of her thoughts, but the pull to show Mirei her love and devotion overcame it. She moved closer, pressing her lips tenderly to Mirei's, feeling the warmth of her skin, the gentle hum of her heartbeat beneath her touch.
Trailing delicate kisses down from Mirei's lips, Kaede moved to her neck, her breath warm as it fanned over Mirei's skin. She felt Mirei's hands come up to hold onto her, fingers gripping lightly as Kaede's lips brushed against her collarbone. Mirei's soft sighs were intoxicating, encouraging Kaede to continue. She hesitated. briefly, her hands finding the clasp of Mirei's bra. She glanced up, her gaze meeting Mirei's in a question, and Mirei's silent nod, the trust and affection in her eyes, erased any remaining doubts.
As Kaede let the straps slip down Mirei's shoulders, she admired Mirei's beauty, "You're beautiful...Mirei." Her breath hitching slightly. She leaned in again, pressing soft kisses over Mirei's chest, feeling her girlfriend shiver in response. Mirei, not used to Kaede's newfound boldness, felt warmth spread across her cheeks, but there was no denying the pleasure in her gaze as she let herself relax into Kaede's touch, savoring each tender moment.
Kaede's own heart raced with every touch, her usual timid nature quieted as she focused solely on Mirei, each kiss a gentle promise that she would treasure every moment they had.
With one final kiss, Kaede pulled back slightly, her forehead resting against Mirei's, their eyes locked in an intimate gaze. The intensity of their emotions flooded the space between them, unspoken words hanging in the air.
"I want to remember this," Kaede whispered, her voice thick with emotion, "every moment, every feeling."
Mirei smiled, her heart swelling with affection. "Me too. No matter what happens, we'll always have this."
They leaned in once more, sharing a kiss that was both tender and fervent. It spoke of promises, of dreams yet to be fulfilled, and the love that would carry them through the distance. Their lips danced together, igniting sparks of passion, but beneath it all was a profound sense of connection—one that transcended the physical and reached deep into their hearts.
As they finally broke apart, both gasping for air, they couldn't help but smile at each other, the weight of their emotions lingering in the atmosphere. Mirei brushed a strand of hair away from Kaede's face, her touch lingering, as if she were imprinting this moment into her memory.
"Whatever comes next, we'll face it together," Mirei promised, her voice steady.
Kaede nodded, feeling a rush of warmth surge through her. "Right," she echoed softly.
In that fleeting moment, they both understood that their love was a force that would guide them through whatever challenges lay ahead. With one last shared glance filled with unspoken vows.
