Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Morning Bliss

Kaede blinked her eyes open slowly, adjusting to the gentle sunlight filtering into the room. As her vision cleared, she found herself staring at the delicate face of Mirei, her girlfriend - a realization that sent a flurry of excitement through her chest. Their hands were still intertwined from the night before, resting between them on the bed. Kaede's heart swelled with warmth at the sight. She had never felt so content just lying there, watching Mirei sleep peacefully. The world outside seemed to have vanished, leaving just the two of them in this serene bubble.

However, that peace was soon interrupted by the sharp ringing of an alarm. The harsh sound jolted Kaede out of her reverie. Mirei stirred, her eyes fluttering open as she slowly awakened. Kaede held her breath, feeling strangely nervous, even though it was only day one of their relationship.

Mirei blinked a few times, taking in her surroundings before locking eyes with Kaede, who was already awake. A sleepy smile curled up on Mirei's lips as she leaned in and gave Kaede a quick, affectionate peck.

"Morning," she greeted softly, her voice still groggy.

Kaede felt her cheeks flush immediately. 'Oh my God, how is she so effortlessly cute?' she thought, feeling her body turn into jelly. It was only the first morning, and already, Kaede didn't know how she'd survive this kind of sweetness every day.

After a moment of silence, Mirei stretched and broke the peaceful moment. "I'll make breakfast," she said casually, "You can take a shower first if you want. I'll lend you a towel."

Kaede nodded, still dazed from the kiss, and watched as Mirei climbed out of bed and headed downstairs. 'Get it together,' Kaede, she told herself, trying to shake off her embarrassment as she grabbed her clothes and headed to the bathroom.

Kaede stepped into the shower, hoping the cold water would cool down the heat creeping up her neck. As the water cascaded over her, she tried to process everything that had happened the night before, how she and Mirei had confessed to each other, kissed, and fallen asleep in each other's arms. It was surreal, like a dream she was afraid to wake up from.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the bathroom door. "Kaede! The towel!" Mirei's voice called from the other side.

Kaede cautiously cracked the door open, trying to hide her naked body as she reached out to grab the towel. Mirei, however, was in one of her usual mischievous moods. "Hmm, trying to keep secrets from me, huh?" she teased, leaning in slightly.

Kaede's heart raced as she quickly snatched the towel from Mirei's hand and shut the door. "Not fair, Mirei!" she muttered under her breath, her face burning from embarrassment. 'How am I going to survive this relationship if she keeps teasing me like this?' she thought, feeling flustered.

After finally drying off and getting dressed, Kaede headed downstairs where the scent of instant noodles filled the air. Mirei stood by the counter, her usual bright and lively self, despite the simplicity of their breakfast,

"Just noodles today, I hope that's okay," Mirei said with a grin as she placed the bowls on the table.

Kaede sat down and nodded, her stomach grumbling. "It's perfect," she replied, still a little shy from earlier.

They ate quietly for a few moments, the casualness of their breakfast together feeling surprisingly intimate. Kaede found herself sneaking glances at Mirei, still amazed that they were actually in a relationship now.

Suddenly, Mirei broke the silence with one of her unpredictable questions. "So, Kaede," she started, her eyes twinkling with mischief, "Since when did you love me?"

Kaede choked on her noodles, completely unprepared for the direct question. She coughed awkwardly, trying to compose herself. Mirei just smiled, clearly enjoying Kaede's flustered reaction.

Kaede stammered for a moment, thinking of an answer. "Uh... since I first saw you on the screen..." she began but immediately realized her mistake. 'Crap!' she thought, panicking.

Mirei looked at her with amusement, tilting her head. "On the screen? What do you mean by that?" she asked, her tone playful but curious.

Kaede waved her hands nervously. "It's nothing! I meant in person! It was love at first sight... at school!" She blurted, her face turning redder with each word.

Mirei chuckled, clearly enjoying how embarrassed Kaede was. "So, love at first sight, huh? And all this time, I had no idea," she said, shaking her head. "I'm sorry I didn't notice sooner."

Kaede quickly shook her head, waving off Mirei's apology. "No, no! It's not your fault. I was... well, I never made a move either."

Mirei smiled warmly, a hint of affection in her eyes. "Well, better late than never, right?"

Kaede smiled softly in return but then decided to ask something that had been lingering in her mind. "What about you? Since when did you love me?"

Mirei paused, her expression thoughtful. She leaned back in her chair, staring at the ceiling as if trying to remember something. After a few seconds, she gave Kaede a soft, almost shy smile. "I'm not sure exactly when it started," she admitted, "but last night's kiss... that's when I realized I love you."

Kaede felt her heart skip a beat. She hadn't expected such a genuine response, and the thought that their kiss had sparked something so significant for Mirei made her blush even harder. "Really?" she asked quietly.

Mirei nodded, her cheeks slightly pink as she chuckled. "Yeah, it hit me then. I guess I've liked you for a while, but that kiss made everything clear."

Kaede smiled, feeling warmth spread through her chest. "I'm glad," she whispered, unable to suppress her happiness.

Mirei's playful personality soon resurfaced as she leaned in closer with a teasing grin. "So... am I your first girlfriend?"

Kaede nodded shyly, not trusting herself to speak without getting flustered.

Mirei grinned and leaned back in her chair. "Oh my God, Kaede! You're too cute. I just want to kiss you right now."

Kaede, blushing furiously, leaned in slightly and whispered, "We're official now, so..."

Without needing any further encouragement, Mirei leaned in and kissed Kaede again, this time more passionately. Kaede could feel the intensity of the kiss grow, much more aggressive than the night before. When Kaede thought it was over, her heart raced as she felt Mirei's tongue slip into her mouth, exploring gently. She could feel Mirei's saliva in her mouth. The heat between them was undeniable, and Kaede felt her body tingling all over. It was overwhelming, especially for someone new to this.

When Mirei finally pulled back, she gave Kaede's lips one last teasing lick before breaking into a mischievous smile. "You're too easy, Kaede," she teased before standing up. "I'm off to shower now."

Kaede sat there, her heart still pounding, trying to process what had just happened. 'Was that... normal?' she thought, feeling flushed from the whole experience.

Before she could gather herself, the bathroom door opened again, and Mirei stepped out wearing only a towel, water still dripping from her hair.

Kaede's eyes widened as she nearly screamed, "Why aren't you dressed properly?!"

Mirei shrugged nonchalantly. "This is my place and I always get dressed in my room. Besides, we're both girls, and you're my girlfriend now, so it's no big deal, right?"

Kaede groaned, covering her face. "No, it's still embarrassing!"

Mirei chuckled at her reaction before heading to her room to get dressed. As the minutes ticked by, Kaede realized they were running late. "Mirei, we're going to be late if you don't hurry!" she called out, trying to shake off her embarrassment as she got ready for the day ahead.
