Alex sat at his desk, fingers hovering over the keyboard as he contemplated the vast knowledge he'd accumulated. His focus darted between files—research on advanced tech, snippets of hidden codes, and genetic data he had unraveled over recent months. So much potential lay within his grasp, yet one question loomed above all else: what was the best way to use it?
"Eva," he began, pausing to think. "We've made breakthroughs in both tech and genetics. The hidden code could revolutionize everything… but it's risky. I don't know enough about the effects on people yet, especially when it comes to ability users."
Eva's voice chimed in with her usual smooth efficiency. "Would you like a summary of your current knowledge on ability users?"
"Yes," he nodded, leaning back as he listened.
"Thus far, you have data from Eze's uprising, plus a limited number of recorded samples on ability users," Eva summarized. "But detailed analysis on their cellular structure, endurance, or recovery rates is incomplete. A deeper understanding of the effects on various genetic codes would require more comprehensive sampling and controlled studies."
Alex frowned, absorbing the limitations. "I'm not willing to push something without knowing the consequences. We can't afford unexpected side effects or… creating new ability users unintentionally. That'd just add to the chaos out there."
He sat in silence, considering. If he wanted to make a tangible impact, he'd have to focus on something more direct, something proven. His mind shifted to medicine and the idea of curing diseases, developing advanced treatments, even finding solutions for ailments caused by ability users' powers. It was a path that didn't carry as many unknowns, but it was just as ambitious.
"Alright, Eva. Let's go with medicine," he said decisively. "Focus on developing pharmaceuticals and treatments to cure genetic disorders, serious illnesses, and even poisons from ability users. If we can treat nearly anything, we won't need to rely solely on healers among the ability users. This way, anyone could access real healing—no ability required."
"Understood," Eva replied, seamlessly adapting to his decision. "Would you like me to draft a proposal for Max, outlining this direction for the company?"
"Yes. Let's be thorough," Alex instructed, leaning forward. "Start with how we can use my DNA research to target and treat genetic illnesses. Then move to treatments for poison, resistance formulas, and everything we've developed so far."
Eva paused, processing. "Shall I mention your recent findings on enhancing cellular repair and reversing degenerative diseases?"
"Absolutely. And stress that we're looking to expand into medical health, not just treatment but prevention. The pharmaceutical branch could lead a new era in health science," Alex said, the excitement in his voice unmistakable.
Within minutes, Eva had the report drafted. Her voice came over the speaker, confirming, "Report prepared. Would you like me to send it now?"
Alex thought for a moment, formulating his message to Max. "Make it clear that this isn't just a business opportunity, Eva. Tell Max… this is about creating a real difference. It's about giving people hope, even in this turbulent time."
He could practically picture Max's reaction—skeptical yet intrigued. Max had always been a businessman first, but even he couldn't ignore the potential of such a project.
"Message delivered," Eva confirmed after a moment. "Max should receive it shortly and review it within the next few hours."
Alex leaned back, feeling the weight of his decision settle over him. This new direction wasn't just a career move; it was a chance to change lives. He imagined the possibilities: treatments that could help ordinary people overcome the effects of powerful abilities, drugs that could neutralize poison or boost healing, solutions that could reach the masses, even if they didn't have an ability user around.
Eva interrupted his thoughts. "Alex, I have received a reply from Max. Would you like me to read it?"
"Go ahead," Alex said, intrigued.
Eva's tone became subtly more businesslike as she recited, "Max's response: 'This is ambitious, Alex. I won't lie, the market for advanced medicine has potential, but are you sure we're ready to pivot from power generation to pharmaceuticals? This would be an enormous shift. I'll need more than a report to convince the board.'"
Alex chuckled, expecting Max's practical resistance. "Alright. Tell him this: 'Max, I understand your hesitation. But we're not abandoning power generation—just expanding. And with our current resources, we could quickly rise as leaders in medical tech. The world needs this.'"
"Message delivered," Eva confirmed.
Satisfied, Alex turned back to his desk, where stacks of notes and diagrams awaited him. This new direction was uncharted territory, but he had the tools, the research, and the motivation to make it happen.
As he continued jotting down ideas and refining his vision, he can literally feel ideas running around in his mind.
