Chapter 1 - 01 Where I stand

Today is the day of the tea party with my fiance, which is held twice a month. I'm wearing a cream-colored outfit that matches my green eyes and light brown hair. My hair is decorated with a flower woven from green thread.

Her fiancé, Robert, politely arrived a little late.

We exchanged polite greetings, and then he escorted us to our seats in the gazebo in the garden.

Ask about his parents.

"The day before yesterday, we went to the estate together." His parents, the Marquis of Blacklake's estate, is one of the wealthiest places in the country. It takes only half a day to get there from the royal capital.

Next, I visit my sister.

"He's as energetic as ever and plays with me every day. He said hello to me today too," he replied.

His sister, Josie, is full of energy and has great athletic ability. Once, she was running around wildly... no, she was so excited that she fell down the stairs. It happened at a garden party. I was surprised when she suddenly rolled in front of me, but I managed to fix her sprained ankle on the spot.

At this moment, a carriage pulled out of the gate. Annabelle must have been leaving.

Here, he suddenly spoke to me of his own accord?

"Ah, it's time. I'm sorry, but I have an appointment later, so I'll have to excuse myself now. It was fun. There's no need to see me off."

I sat there and saw him off. I realized why he was dressed more casually than usual. He had dressed for the occasion.

I was happy about his thoughtfulness. Even though he had an appointment, he came to our regular tea party.

Our engagement was decided because our parents knew each other. My family is an Earl's family with a small territory on the outskirts of the royal capital. I have four children: an older brother who is the heir, me, a younger sister, and a younger brother.

I'm an Earl, but it's an old family. Some of my ancestors are foreign royal families. I have some of this country's royal blood mixed in. It's just a little bit... I heard that the prince and princess had nowhere to go, so we took them in. From whom? The previous Earl and Princess. Basically, my grandparents used to tell me about the history of the Earl family from time to time. It's the same story every year. So I know that the official history isn't always correct.

So, the engagement happened when our two families happened to be sitting at nearby tables at a garden party, talked it over, and decided that since our children were around the same age, it would be a good fit, so Robert and I got engaged.

His brother, Lord Ryan, is the heir to the Marquis and must find a suitable daughter. His sister, Josie, must also carefully search for a suitable fiancé to entrust her precious daughter to.

It's the same in my family. The heir, my brother. My precious Annabelle. And my adorable youngest son, Carl, can't think of a casual engagement. He'll take his time to choose his partner.

However, Lord Robert and I, Lily, could just get it over with. That's why I quickly arranged for Lily and Robert to get engaged to the person I happened to be talking to.

My sister, Annabelle, was already beautiful when she was born. However, she was a little weaker than average and would often get fevers. That's why both my parents and the servants treasured her and looked after her. I don't think they neglected her, but I'd rather not, and they're forgotten. Next time, next time Lily. These words were repeated countless times. But now they don't even exist. They've been omitted. In short, they've been forgotten.

When I was little, I was unhappy with that and said

"It's fine if you just cure the fever."

He got so angry that he hit me on the cheek. He yelled at me.

"What do you mean, it's just a fever? What do you mean it can be cured?"

I was in so much pain and confusion that I couldn't say anything. I could lower fevers and heal wounds. I thought that if I could do it, anyone could.
