"Talking"

"That was cool!"

"Yeah, you just pew! Pew! And then all of them are dead!"

I chuckled awkwardly at the group of adventurers now buzzing around me like excited kids after witnessing my performance.

After battling through what felt like an endless wave of monsters, I had finally found a group of people I could talk to—or at least tolerate.

I had come across them after hearing a scream in the distance. Without hesitation, I dashed toward the sound, finding a group of adventurers cornered and outnumbered by a horde of monsters.

Of course, taking down the monsters was child's play with my trusty heavy machine gun and Paddy's Pod Program. Watching Paddy's precise "aimbot" accuracy as he mowed through the monsters was as satisfying as ever. It felt a little like cheating, considering I still had to aim manually, but hey, I wasn't about to complain.

When the dust settled, I was met with their profuse thanks and gratitude. It felt a bit weird receiving praise for dealing with what I considered weaklings, but I took the opportunity to ask for a guide to the surface. They were more than happy to oblige.

The moment we finish making quick work of the monster around us I receive their thanks and gratitude from them. Since it feels weird being thanks just from fighting such weak monster I take advantage and ask them to help me guide me to the surface which they were more than happy for.

I was grateful since not having a guide in this massive cave is fucking pain. And I am already sick of seeing this cramped cave.

As we walked, the group's curiosity about me became increasingly obvious. But there is something that leaves me more curious than them.

"So... are you guys a player?"

"Huh? What the heck is a player?" One seems like a brute who has an axe and shield spoke.

"...So you are not a player?" I stare in disbelief at hearing this

"Maybe he means you are a playboy, you always think with your below instead of your brain dwarf" Elf smirked at the brute who glared back at the elf.

The fact these people do not knows the word Player already confirmed these people are not real people but AI.

I even checked their real identity by using the Hud, and my Hud was telling me that these people were not players at all but NPCs. Something that I just noticed a moment ago.

It goes like this.

[NPC_Gorou Ironbeard] [NPC_Ayaka Starleaf] [NPC_Haruto Shiranui] [NPC_Michiru Nightfang]

Now usually I won't be having problem if the people were AI since my own Paddy is also AI, but the real problem was that these people were able to talk with me like I was talking with a real person.

They were also able to have a voice and express emotion. Something I consider imposible for good reason since most of the AI in real world were still at the beggining stage and can't even express emotion on their face correctly or even moving properly like a real person in VR.

If these AI understood what kind of emotion or expression need to be express everytime they talk according to how I reply then they might as well says that the world have been taken over by AI.

Every single work in existence can now be replaced by AI, maybe some places still need some human work but most of the world will be replaced by AI.

That's why my mind went rampant with many theories that could make sense of this.

Did I accidentally step into one of those secret projects where someone finally managed to replicate human behaviors in a virtual world?

That means I have to get out of here as fast as possible.

Me being here already screams trouble and if the admin of this server notices me... God pray me I have a painless death. Maybe even the CIA will track my Ip and hunt me down until the end of the earth just to keep this a secret.

The elf girl's gaze traveled up and down my form as if she were conducting a thorough examination. "Say thishave been on my mind but mister, you have an unusual set of armor," she remarked.

Before I could react, the four adventurers gathered around me, inspecting me from every angle.

"Coated in black color.."

"Covering all parts of the body.."

"And with a weird floating box that can talk..." One of the adventurers poked the floating box, which remained silent for some reason.

"You are a very strange guy," another concluded. "I never see these types of armour or these strange what was it you call again? Right a machine."

Right... Maybe they are right since I wore full body armour and gask mask. Since I do not not knows what kind of enemy I have to face I prepare myself with everything that I think I need to face in the dungeon.

The armor for extra protection since I can still feel pain which I try my best to avoid, and the gas mask to protect me from contaminated or poison gas since I was poisoned a moment ago by a certain monster. I don't know how I was poisoned, to be honest.

Anyway the armour I am wearing is pretty common that soldiers would wear, but I guess these NPC see it as strange which Is kind of obvious since they were wearing armor that is from the medieval age like leather armor and iron armor.

But since they were a bit curious, I began explaining a little. "This armor is to protect me from projectile attacks since I don't really have to worry about physical attacks, and the mask is to protect me from poison. So I am sorry if it seems strange to you."

Everyone hummed or nodded at my explanation. The elf noticed the weapon I was carrying and immediately inspected it by touching it lightly. "Now that I think about it, I've never seen a weapon like this. What did you call it again? A machine gun?"

I looked at the machine gun she was examining. In my arms was the H.M.G. 46 Heavy Machine Gun.

Since It felt heavy carrying machine guns everywhere so I tried my best to use lighter weapons while trying to avoid the monster, but since I had to guard this group of adventure I decided to go all out and use the heavy gun.

It slows me down since it's heavy, but the firepower is always worth it.

"It is indeed called a machine gun," I explained, "but specifically, it's the H.M.G. 46 Heavy Machine Gun. It can shoot 800 to 1,200 rounds per minute."

"800 rounds per minute..? Is that even possible?" she asked, her eyes wide with astonishment.

"It is indeed"

Everyone looked at each other nervously.

"What's wrong?" I asked, sensing their unease.

"I thought a gun could only be used once per minute?" one of them said hesitantly.

Huh? Once per minute? Are they talking about muskets, like the ones the British used that could only fire once at a time?

"It's different it uses what's called a bullet" I show a piece of bullet from the magazine that I keep on my chest

I held up the piece of ammunition for them to see. "This is a bullet. Most firearms use these instead of small iron balls, and they can be fired in rapid succession thanks to advancements in technology."

The elf was fascinated by the bullet in my arms, and was about to grab it before I put it back and continue "It's extremely useful since It's small and easy to carry, not to mention it has a good firepower."

"That is so cool!!" The elf's eyes sparkle "Can you make me one? Of course I will pay them!"

An elf with a machine gun? Absolutely not. The image alone was enough to send a chill down my spine.

The last thing I want is an elf that is usually full of pride to suddenly go in gun blazing.

I gave a small, rueful smile. "I wouldn't recommend it. Guns are extremely expensive to make, and each bullet is single-use. Unless you're filthy rich, you're better off sticking with bows and arrows."

"But the ability to shoot 800 rounds per minute?" She spread her hands wide, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "That's too powerful to pass up! Just think about it—no one would mess with me!"

I let out a soft sigh. "Look, I won't stop you if you're dead set on getting a gun. But finding someone who can craft the ammunition for you? That's a whole other issue. Ammo isn't just expensive—it's painstakingly time-consuming to make. Do you really think any smith would prioritize that over forging weapons or repairing armor?"

Her shoulders slumped, and she pouted. "I guess that makes sense," she muttered, almost under her breath.

Before she could continue her argument, a gruff voice from the front of the group cut through the conversation.

"Alright We have arrived people"

The announcement jolted us back to reality, and I realized we had reached our destination.

The moment we went beyond the entrance my eyes laid upon a huge open terrain, the floor was massive with a huge forest like before spread around. And also I noticed huge crystal were above the cave shining their light upon the whole floor.

"Welcome to the 18th Floor," the adventurer said with a grin.
