Chapter 117 - Chapter 117: Capturing Lawrence Alive

Inside the command center of the Hurricane, Ai Er had just arrived from the T4 Scorpions, using beam-transfer technology to reach the ship. Walking through the long corridors, she made her way to the bridge. After identity verification, the command room doors automatically opened, and she stepped in, standing beside Feng Mo, head lowered like a child caught in wrongdoing.

Feng Mo glanced at her briefly without a word before turning his full attention to the radar display. At Lawrence's command, the Demon Fleet had split into two groups, with over 800 ships launching a desperate charge toward the Storm and Chu-Hua Fleets.

This kind of close-quarters fleet combat was typically a last resort when supplies of energy and ammunition were running low, or in suicidal interception scenarios. Watching the eleven enemy ships stealthily leaving the battlefield, Feng Mo nodded. Lawrence, despite his cowardice, seemed to genuinely care for his subordinates—Horlaw, Sylund, and now the Demon Fleet soldiers willing to make a suicidal advance just to secure his escape.

However, Feng Mo could only offer his regrets; the Spark System mission required him to eliminate Lawrence personally. His fate was sealed.

"Attention, fleet! The enemy is initiating close-quarters combat. All T4 Shields, it's time to show your worth—don't bring shame to the Storm Fleet! Silia, assume command of the fleet."

Having issued the command, Feng Mo glanced at Ai Er beside him, pulling her to a seat nearby before continuing, "Release the engine limit on the Hurricane. Target: the enemy flagship. Pursue! They won't get far. Two T4 bio-ships, follow us."

Ai Er, slipping seamlessly into combat mode, began rapidly typing commands on the holographic display, her fingers moving so quickly they left afterimages.

"Hurricane engine limit lifted. Current speed: 470 star knots. Ready for orders."

Feng Mo snapped his fingers. "Good! Charge the quasi-T5 star-killer cannon!"

The Hurricane surged forward like an untamed stallion, hurtling toward the enemy flagship.

"Warning! A ship is approaching at 470 star knots—scanning complete. Identification: Storm Fleet quasi-T5 flagship Hurricane," blared the mechanical voice on Lawrence's command deck. Cursing under his breath, Lawrence realized Feng Mo was relentless. He doubted he could face Feng Mo head-to-head, but with a quasi-T5 ship and ten T4 escorts, he decided to stand and fight, barking an order:

"Turn the ship around! Prepare to engage! Main and secondary cannons, charge!"

Feng Mo noted the flagship slowing down and turning to face them, a smile crossing his lips. Lawrence was challenging him to a "real" man's duel—a one-versus-eleven showdown. Feng Mo's urge to pummel him rose exponentially.

"Commander, quasi-T5 star-killer cannon fully charged. Awaiting orders!"

"Target: enemy flagship. Fire! Main and secondary cannons, prepare to charge!"

In an instant, an orange glow gathered at the cannon's muzzle, forming a massive ball of light that coalesced into a blazing beam, slicing toward the Demon flagship.

The beam struck the flagship's shield. Although its energy levels had recovered to 45%, it was no match for the power of the star-killer cannon, which tore through the shield and pierced the flagship's hull. Feng Mo's latent luck talent activated again, and the shot struck the ship's energy core directly. The cannon's concentrated energy triggered an explosion in the energy chamber, followed by a secondary explosion.

Inside the quasi-T5 Vulture-class Battleship, alarms flashed red, with sparks and shrapnel filling the command center. Many crew members were killed instantly from the shockwave, while Lawrence barely survived, his quasi-T5 genetic enhancements enabling him to withstand the impact. The ship, however, was crippled, leaving him with no choice but to wait for death.

"Warning! Hurricane locked by multiple energy attacks. Maximum shield output engaged," reported the mechanical voice on the Hurricane's bridge. The ten T4 Rhinos escorting Lawrence's flagship had fired their main cannons, though Feng Mo didn't bother dodging, knowing the damage to his shields would be minimal.

"Commander, main and secondary cannons charged and ready," Ai Er reported.

"Target the ten T4 Rhinos. Fire!"

Upon Feng Mo's command, twenty-two beams of light hurtled toward the enemy escorts. Eight main and eight secondary cannons crippled eight T4 Rhinos, while the two remaining ships, despite being hit, could still function. Moments later, they were destroyed by two bio-electric plasma blasts from the T4 bio-ships.

"Ai Er, take Tianyi and head over to the quasi-T5 Vulture. Check if Lawrence is still alive. If he is, bring him back here."

"Yes!" Ai Er answered, quickly leaving the command room.

As Feng Mo monitored the radar for updates, he saw the fleet's combat intensifying, with ships colliding in the chaos, many forced to halt due to damage. The forty T4 Shields were like ancient, unstoppable warriors, using their formidable prows to slice through enemy ships, ripping them apart.

Each T4 Shield was equipped with a massive blade made of dark-matter alloy, making them costly investments—each one more expensive than a T4 Kangaroo destroyer. But Feng Mo loved close-quarters combat, and these pricey weapons were proving invaluable now.

While the Storm Fleet pushed forward decisively, Chu Yunjian and Hua Yucheng's fleet struggled somewhat. Though both were talented commanders, they lacked experience in close-quarters ship combat. Initially caught off guard, they were soon backed by their seasoned military advisors, who took charge. The entire fleet then surged forward with renewed vigor, effectively suppressing the Demon forces.

Satisfied with the situation, Feng Mo relaxed slightly. Just then, the command room doors opened, and Ai Er and Feng Tianyi entered, flanking a captured Lawrence.

Lawrence was in a miserable state—his limbs twisted into unnatural shapes, his hands and feet reduced to bloody, mangled masses. These precautions were necessary to prevent him from attempting to resist once in the command center; after all, a desperate quasi-T5 genetic warrior could be highly dangerous.
