Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Firepower Overload

When Storm Fleet arrived at the Bai family's main planet, over five hundred warships were already assembled there. Most of them were T2-class starships, with only around 20% being T3-class. This was because the Bai family had little time to prepare. When Yunshan Fleet locked down the star gate, the Bai family had only just received the news, and their main fleet was away on missions in other empires.

The merchant convoys' escort fleets were also away from Windmill Star System and couldn't return in time. The Bai family had to hastily gather all available starships from themselves and their allied families to defend their main planet.

Bai Muchen, the eldest son of the Bai family, sat in the captain's chair, fully aware of the circumstances. He knew that his younger brother, Bai Muli, was in the wrong, having been spoiled and left unchecked, growing up wild and undisciplined.

Still, Bai Muchen didn't believe the situation would become too serious. The Bai family's intelligence network had already provided detailed information on Storm Fleet. If the enemy wanted a fight, so be it. Bai Muchen was confident that five hundred warships could overpower fifty-seven, a significant numerical advantage.

He planned to fight, force the enemy to surrender, and then gracefully yield, giving General Gu some face and compensating Feng Mo with some star coins. That would be the end of it. Given the massive defensive advantage of the Bai family's fleet, along with the T3 planetary defense systems, their odds of victory were high. Yet, Bai Muchen's pride drove him to adopt an offensive strategy, aiming to keep the enemy at bay.

Rumor had it that Feng Mo was a genius in starship design and fleet command, and Bai Muchen wanted to see if those claims were true. Now, he had his chance. The enemy's formation was strikingly similar to Ai Er's previous triple-layered defense: a circular formation, with frigates forming the outer layer, destroyers and battleships making up the second line, and five T3-class carriers at the center.

Seeing this "iron turtle" formation, Feng Mo chuckled. In most starship battles, such a defensive strategy was the safest and most reliable, minimizing losses. But this time, they were facing Storm Fleet, equipped with two T3-class Puncher-class missile ships.

Perfect, Feng Mo thought. This would be the ideal test for the firepower of his newly built missile ships.

Ai Er quickly issued her orders: "T2 Black Bear-class ships, defensive mode, prepare to intercept incoming attacks. T3 Sea Lion-class, deploy drones. Two T3 Puncher-class ships, open all 500 missile launch silos. Prepare for the first volley: 1,000 star missiles!"

Feng Mo and Ai Er had no intention of talking things out with the Bai family, and they even ignored incoming communication requests. This was a show of force, and they wouldn't be distracted from their goal.

"Fire!" Ai Er commanded.

The missile silos on the two T3 Puncher-class ships opened, and one thousand star missiles roared forth, leaving blazing trails behind them as they streaked toward the enemy formation. With the Bai family's fleet arranged in an iron turtle defense, Feng Mo intended to crack open that tough exterior with sheer firepower.

In space, air resistance is negligible, allowing star missiles to fly at incredible speeds. Their unpredictable trajectories made them hard to intercept. Bai Muchen's eyes widened in shock when he saw the two T3 missile ships in Storm Fleet. His family's T4 fleet only had one such ship due to the enormous cost, and yet Feng Mo had two in a mere T3 fleet. How could they fight against that? In the face of missile saturation, even the sturdiest formations would falter.

"All ships, deploy close-in weapon systems and secondary batteries for interception! Missiles are easier to intercept than lasers," Bai Muchen ordered, making the best tactical decision he could under the circumstances.

Five hundred starships activated their defenses, creating a web of laser fire that intercepted the incoming missiles. Explosions lit up the dark expanse of space, but they couldn't stop all the missiles. Even with the defensive net, only about half of the one thousand missiles were intercepted.

The remaining four hundred missiles hit the enemy fleet's left wing, causing Bai Muchen's eyes to flash with fear.

Explosions lit up the darkness, engulfing starships in flames. The enemy's left flank was devastated, with many starships losing power and communication.

"Don't count the casualties! All operational ships, focus fire on those two missile ships! Now!" Bai Muchen yelled.

The best way to deal with missile ships was to attack them before they could reload. By striking hard and fast, he hoped to cause a chain reaction of explosions. However, Ai Er had anticipated this. She admired Bai Muchen's quick thinking but knew he was too hesitant to make truly ruthless decisions.

Instead of intercepting the missiles with secondary guns, Ai Er would have activated star shields and charged forward, sacrificing all T2-class ships if necessary to take down the enemy missile ships. But Bai Muchen hesitated, and that cost him.

A second volley of one thousand missiles streaked out, colliding with the Bai family's return fire. Space lit up with overlapping explosions. Ai Er had used the second volley to intercept incoming fire, while any remaining attacks barely scratched Storm Fleet's defenses.

Four hundred more missiles struck the enemy formation, wreaking havoc. Then came the third volley, followed by a fourth and a fifth. Feng Mo had committed nearly his entire arsenal, spending over two billion Yunshan coins' worth of missiles to make his point.

The result was devastating. The enemy formation crumbled, with ships either destroyed, disabled, or fleeing. The overwhelming

firepower had shattered the Bai family fleet.
