Lily's eyes widened, standing motionless. The head maid frowned and snapped at her, "what are you waiting for? Get to work!"
Lily snapped out of it and quickly went to work.
Time flew fast and young master Adrian had arrived.
The Alpha and his family stood at the entrance of the house gate along with all the servants as they all waited for the carriage. Everyone was eager, but the one who was most eager, stood behind them, her heart racing. She was a bit nervous. Perhaps because she hadn't seen Adrian for three years now and she had missed him.
She didn't even know when her hands had already begun to straighten her hair and wrinkled up dress, which looked oversize on her tiny body, trying to look neat at least.
The carriage entered and the gates closed. Adrian got out and turned around, the sun immediately resting upon his face as if to welcome him home as well.
A smile grew on his dashing face upon seeing the entire household outside, waiting for his arrival.
However, no one knew what was the real reason behind his smile. His eyes silently raked the maids, searching for a certain someone.
But just as he kept looking, he heard his father's voice.
"Ah... Welcome home son!" Alpha Jederek went up to him and patted his back, as well as his mother and sisters, smiles on all their faces.
He greeted them back and glanced at the servants again, still searching for who he wanted to see the most. But, he didn't find her among them, which created a slight furrow of disappointment between his brows. The servants smiled and gently bowed to greet him.
And just as they all bowed their heads in unison, it revealed the little lady standing behind them. The eyes of the young master slowly widened as well as the girl's. They both held each other's gaze, neither of them wanting to look away.
Lily stared at him Just as he stared at her and when a smile suddenly beamed all over his face, it caused a blush to appear on her pale cheeks as her lips slowly curved up into a slight smile. Adrian was the type who could make any girl blush without even trying, and all the maids could testify on that. He was a dreamy young man after all, his shiny blonde hair and beautiful brown eyes.
His family noticed their son just standing there like a statue, a beaming smile on his face as he stared at Alpha Raiden's daughter and their smiles died. Especially Valerie, who glared at the girl with pure hatred. Alpha Jederek too was displeased with his son smiling at the girl like she was someone whom he had dearly missed.
"Ahem* son, why don't you come inside? The food is getting cold."
Adrian came back to reality just as he looked to his father beside him. He slowly nodded and turned to look at Lily again, but all the maids had left the door to prepare the table. He turned to his family and forced a smile as they led him into the house.
Lily, who was washing the dishes, couldn't wipe off the little smile on her lips, remembering how a smile beamed on his face when he saw her. He was the only one who wasn't a monster in their family, and sometimes she wondered why he was born into a family like them.
When her life turned upside down, she hated the whole family so much. But over the years, Adrian showed her kindness and forced her to forgive him.
She could remember what he said to her that certain day, after she had told him to stop being nice to her, it only caused her more trouble. And she could never forgive him and his family.
"Lily, I won't stop until you forgive me and become my friend. Believe me, if I had the power, I would have killed my family for how they're treating you."
Lily chuckled, remembering how determined he was to seem different from his family in her eyes. He was only a little boy then, and she wondered if he still had that same spark of determination in him to set her free as he had promised.
The day Lily finally understood that he was only a young boy who had no power to stop his family, was the day she forgave him.
*Bam!*
Lily snapped back to reality when she heard a loud noise, she blinked to meet Rose standing in front of her with a scowl on her face.
"What's a lummox like you daydreaming about? I've been calling you." Rose said.
Lily looked around, to see all the maids staring at her weirdly. She turned to Rose who's face seemed contorted with anger and disgust.
"Oh.....could it be you're thinking about your life and wondering why the hell you were cursed?" she smirked.
Lily silently glared at her, making her smirk the more, something malevolent flashing in her eyes for a split second. "Anyway. They want you at the dining table and hopefully this time, don't spill juice all over Luna?"
Lily ignored her and left for the door instead.
She reached the dining room and met the family eating whilst talking to Adrian, asking him about his training and studies.
Adrian kept on talking and answering their questions, he was always a cheerful person.
Until he sighted Lily and he stopped talking, the family also turned and Valerie smiled.
"Ah…Lily, come fill my cup with juice," she said.
Lily grabbed the jug and walked to where she sat, then she poured juice for the woman, her red hair cascading down her back and shoulders like calm red waves as she bent slightly. Adrian watched her silently, with an unhappy expression on his face, he was always uncomfortable seeing her work for his family like a low born. Yet, there was still nothing he could do.
The youngest daughter, Tessa called for her to also pour her juice. Lily went to her and stood beside Rose who was busy serving them food. Rose noticed her and suddenly smirked, that same evil look from earlier appearing on her face again. All of a sudden, she nudged at her, making Lily lean forward and having the juice spill all over Tessa's dress.
There was a loud shriek from the youngest daughter as she immediately stood up and slapped Lily hard on the face that it was only little for the jug to slip out of her hand and break.
"Tessa!" Adrian rose from his seat as he barked at his sister.
