Chapter 3 - The Cursed Redhead

Far from the capital city, just beside the seashore, lies the Blue moon pack.

*SLAP!*

She fell down immediately, after receiving the hit on her face and she could already taste blood in her mouth. Her cheek was aching so badly, but she dared not lift her hand to touch it.

Her eyes laid on the floor beneath her, she could feel tears well up in them, but she knew better than to let them flow. She slowly closed her eyes to make the tears disappear before opening them back.

"You wretched girl!"

She could feel the disgust exceeding from all of them. But she was beyond used to this. Getting hit had become a mere plaything.

"CRASH!"

She closed her eyes to avoid any piece of the plate, broken right in front of her face, from entering her eyes.

The one who had thrown the plate was no one other than Valerie, the wife and Luna of Alpha Jederek.

One could see the anger, hatred and disgust glistening in her eyes even as she glared at the girl on the floor.

"You worthless thing, do you wish to never be useful? How dare you spill juice all over my dress? KNEEL!"

Lily, who was almost on the verge of losing consciousness, quickly brought herself up from the floor and knelt down in front of the Luna.

Valerie suddenly lifted her chin up to clearly see the hatred burning in her eyes for her as she smiled.

"You're lucky i have found myself in a good mood today. And I should've known that a cursed soul like you would want to ruin it. So I will let you go. But know this," she cranked her chin higher.

"If you ever make such mistake again, I will have your blood wash this dress."

"Yes Luna, it won't happen again," Lily said.

She felt her chin being released and immediately bowed her head.

Valerie grinned maliciously, satisfaction written all over her face. How could she ever get tired of the satisfaction, from watching the daughter of the former Alpha on her knees. Looking almost lifeless, at her mercy?

Valerie's hatred towards Lily was beyond measure and unexplainable. And the same goes to her husband, Alpha Jederek.

"Valerie, that's enough. Come, let us continue eating. We are running late."

Valerie glared at Lily once more before raising her right leg and using it to shove the girl back to the ground, where she knew she would always belong.

Before she turned around to answer her husband's call.

The family which was currently of four instead of five -as the eldest son was away, continued to enjoy their lunch. Ignoring the existence of the girl on the floor. Lily sighed, thanking the heavens that she didn't receive the beating of a lifetime. She gathered herself the moment she heard an order from the Alpha.

"Get the head maid and come back with her," he said.

She bowed her head before leaving the dinning room to call the head maid.

Lily walked down the hall and soon reached the kitchen. She entered and looked at the head maid, "your presence is needed mrs Jane."

The maids stopped their work to glance at the girl, some with pity and some with hatred. One of them suddenly spoke.

"Oh….our poor Lily. Were you hit again? I can see your lips bleeding," hearing her, Lily finally realized her own lips were bleeding.

"Poor thing, it must hurt. But at least it matches the color of your hair perfectly. That's something." Rose smirked and a few others laughed out loud.

Lily silently glared at her but she knew not to retort or mention anything, she no longer held any power or right. She was now a lowly maid, just like them.

From the daughter of an Alpha to a servant.

Lily couldn't forget who she was before, but her real life has now become a past to her and she has long accepted her present.

The laughter of the maids filled the kitchen until they heard the head maid's stern voice.

"That's enough."

The head maid was one of the reasonable ones here, she always held an indifferent face and treated everyone as they should be.

She turned to Lily, "let's go."

They both left the kitchen and went back to the dinning room where the family was done with their lunch but still seated.

"Yes Alpha." The head maid bowed her head, along with Lily, who stood behind her.

"Jane, come with me."

"You," he pointed at Lily.

"Clean the table."

The family left the dining room along with the head maid, and Lily quickly proceeded to clean the table.

While she was cleaning the table, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned around to meet Tessa, the youngest daughter of Alpha Jederek walking up to her.

Lily bowed her head when she stood in front of her, not knowing of what evil she had in mind for her this time, as she could see the sinister grin on her lips.

Until Lily heard the 'clink' of a glass cup and suddenly felt water splashed on her face and down her body. She lifted her head to meet Tessa glaring at her.

"That's for almost ruining mother's mood today," she said before walking away.

Lily just sighed and continued to clear the plates and clean the table. After she was done, she went to change her clothes into another which also was no different to a rag. But at least, she wasn't wet in this one like she was in the previous one.

The day flew by fast and the moon had arrived. The household had grown silent. After a heavy load of chores, Lilly could finally rest.

She could feel every inch of her arms and legs. They were so sore. But before the next morning, she would be fine.

She gently laid her head on the bed that only felt like a plank of wood. It was not in the least, soothing to her aching body, but at least she wasn't sleeping on the floor like the other servants did. That was the only difference between her and the servants, perhaps that was why they hate her so much.

She wondered why the Alpha even bothered to give her a room. Maybe it was their own way of still acknowledging who she really was and where she came from, that she was once a noble, and she once had a princess-sized bedroom. But this wasn't even a bedroom, it was more like a rat hole with a human-sized door.

Lily was the daughter of the late Alpha, Raiden Auryn, who -according to rumors, was poisoned to death.

Lily also had no choice but to believe the rumor because she was there that day, seated on the dining chair as she watched her father cough out blood and slowly lose his life.

That day, Lily had felt like killing herself and going along with her father. Who could blame her though? When she lived in a world where she was hated and known as the cursed redhead, just because of her unique red hair? Even during her father's rule, they didn't bother hiding their hatred for her, blaming her for the death of the former Luna, his wife.

Ever since the day of her birth and the death of her mother. People had begun to call her cursed, because her mother had died immediately after giving birth to her. And to make matters worse, Lily was the first and only wolf to ever be born a redhead.

The pack blamed her for the death of both her parents. After the death of her father, it became worse as the rumors of her actually being cursed began to intensify, because no one ever found the real culprit behind his death. They didn't even try, believing it to be the curse of the redhead. To make matters worse, Lily wasn't born with the ability to shift, despite both her parents both being shifters. She had no wolf, so there was barely any difference between her and a human. Many called her names, but 'the cursed redhead' was their favorite. Many saw her as a weak being, who was nothing but a mistake that should never have been born.

Immediately after her father's death, his beta, Cruden Jederek, became the new Alpha and his wife was the new Luna.

Since the pack didn't acknowledge the existence of the late Alpha's daughter in the first place, the Beta had the opportunity to decide her future for all the people cared. Resulting in her present life.

Alpha Jederek has three kids, and they hated her. Except one, the eldest child, Adrian. Apart from the family, Adrian was her friend. Whenever he was back home, he would always try to seek mercy from his father each time they wanted to punish her. And since he was his father's favorite, he was always listened to.

Adrian always tried his best to bring her food every night, which was the only way she wasn't starved to death. But now that he has been away for the past three years, she had suffered from hunger, only eating whatever was thrown to her.

Sometimes she wondered why her life had to be like this. No one outside these walls knew how horrible the life of the late Alpha's daughter was, because she was long forgotten by them.

The tears which she forced back, back at the dining room now flowed freely down her cheeks but she wiped them away and closed her eyes to try to get some sleep ahead of tomorrow -another miserable day.
