POV:MASON
I'm so glad that I've finally given her a piece of my mind. Who did she think she was, coming into the kitchen and taking my snacks? She thought she could deceive me with her stupid lying excuses. I'm not that 11 years old boy again.
I looked at the snacks I snatched from the counter, what will I do with them? I'm not really in the mood for snacks. I dropped them on top of the table and decided to work on some emails. But I couldn't concentrate, my mind was occupied with what solutions I could come up with to have less interaction with her. The house was big but it had one kitchen, theatre, garage and so on. There's no way I would not see her.
I thought for some minutes. I know now, we would separate the house. Make out timetable for one person at a time to be in these places, that way I would have less interaction with her. Yeah, that's what I'm going to do, I'll tell her tomorrow morning so it could take effect as soon as possible.
I really need to go to bed. It's been a long day. I switched off my laptop and went to bed. This marriage is in for a long ride.
But one thing I noticed is that, all the hatred I seem to have carried all these years melted away. It's almost like.... talking to her about it was the better option.
#######
It was seven in the morning and I could hear faint sounds of music coming from one of the rooms. I didn't have work today as I was given days off by my parents. I wondered who could be playing music at this time of the day.
I got out of bed and went downstairs. I could hear the music properly now. I followed the sounds and it led me to the gym room.
Elle was there in her gym wear with her hair tied in a messy bun. Working out to some artist song I don't know.
What the fuck is going on here?
I went to switch off the music, folding my hands and looking at her. She stopped the treadmill and came down from it.
"What are you doing?" She asked with a frown.
"I'm supposed to be the one asking you that, what the fuck is going on here" I asked
She looked around then back at me. "What does it look like is going on? I'm obviously working out?" She said like I'm stupid.
I didn't like that.
"Don't play dumb games with me. You know what I'm talking about. Why the fuck are you blasting music seven in the morning? I was sleeping."
"So? Who cares if you're are sleeping? I know I don't. I was working out and I do that with music" she said taking her bottle of water and from drinking it.
The rules I thought about was definitely happening. I can't stand a moment with her.
"We need to talk about the rules that are going to be put in place, because clearly I can't stand the sight of you. Let's talk in the living room" I said storming out of the gym room. I was getting angry now. She was really getting on my nerves.
I stood leaning at one of the sofa as she came out. She stood a couple feet from me. "What is it? I was working out before you came to disturb me" she said her hands on her hips.
"This spaces in this house that we necessarily have to share will be timed so we have less interaction with each other. I mean the kitchen, garage and all other spaces. We would set a time for one person at a time to be in those space and stick to it" I said proud of myself to have come up with that idea.
She gave a short laugh. My eyes twitched.
"What type of idea or rule is that? What? I have to wait for you to be done with the kitchen for me to use it? Or I have to wait for you to leave the garage for me to step out and use the car? No Mason, I'm not doing that" Elle said walking to the kitchen.
I followed her. " What do you mean you're not going to do that? I don't want to speak or be near you Elle, don't you get it?" I said getting agitated. She is REALLY getting on my nerves.
"Oh I do get it Mason, I got it clearly last night. But that doesn't mean I'm going to follow all the rules you make when its both our house and most importantly, the rules doesn't make sense and it won't work" she said said re-filling her water bottle.
"So what do you suggest smart pants?" I asked crossing my arms.
"I'm glad you asked. We don't talk to each other. When I'm in the kitchen and you meet me there don't talk to me. Pretend I'm not there, and I'll do the same. Simple. We don't have to wait hours for either of us to go in the kitchen or other places" she said as if she has thought about this before.
That was much better I'll admit, but I'm not gonna give her that satisfaction.
"Fine, I'll agree to it. But only because I don't wanna argue and be in this space with you" I said and she rolled her eyes.
"What are you going to do with that loud music of yours? You're not the only one here and I would like to sleep in the morning." I told her. Her music taste was terrible and I don't want my ears bleeding out so early in the morning.
"Oh come on, if you weren't given a week off I'm very sure you would be working out too" she said walking out of the kitchen.
"I still don't want to hear your terrible ass music in the morning"I said following her.
"Fine I'll reduce it" she said suddenly stopping and facing me.
Because I was walking behind her, when she stopped our faces were really close to each other. I looked into her blue eyes. They were still pretty like before.
I came to my sense. "Better" I said walking away.
I entered my bedroom shutting the door.
I went straight to the mirror. Get a hold of yourself Mason.
