POV: ELLE
We didn't get drunk off our asses.
We went back to her place only for us to continue our sad stories. I told her about Mason. She saw the positive side that maybe he had changed. And the marriage may work out. I really hope so. It was fun with her tho. We talked about anything and everything.
It was lazy Wednesday for me. Tired from last night event, I woke up by noon after I got back home from Bernice's place. I showered, and went to the kitchen to fill my stomach.
"You look terrible" my mom said
"Thanks for the kind words mom" I said sarcastically.
She laughed. "Come eat something and stop whining". She made Butter roasted chicken with grit waffles. "Thank you, it smells good" I said taking my seat. I ate, did the dishes then went to join her in the living room. Re-run of Love island was on.
I didn't see Dylan around and asked about him. My mom said he's in school. I had forgot people still go to school.
"We're having dinner at the vampire lord's house on Friday, hope you didn't forget?" She asked after sometime. I nodded "Yeah I remember" A nervous feeling starts to bubble within me. I shake it off, not in front of mom.
"Mason is going to be there, you know, you both haven't seen each other for a very long time" she said slowly, glancing at me.
I made a face. "Why'd look at me like that?"
"Like what?" she said innocently. But I can see right through her. "You're acting awfully suspicious." I narrowed my eyes at her.
I let out a loud gasp "Did u read my letters?" I asked. she was quiet. "Why would you do that?" I asked covering my eyes with my hands " You weren't supposed to read them"
The contents of those letters were embarrassing. I didn't want anyone to ever read that but I don't want to throw them away.
"I'm sorry Elle. I didn't mean to. They were just there, looking at me. I was tempted"
"What'd mean you were tempted? I hid them underneath my highschool notes and textbooks." I said exasperated.
"That too"
I sighed loudly. "Forget it, what's done is done. I know you're DYING to ask a lot of questions, so ask away" I said leaning back at the sofa.
"Is Mason really treating you badly? Do still want to get married to him? Have you heard from him lately?. I know it's an arranged marriage but if you're having second thoughts about it, let me know alright?" She said, all in one breath.
Why did she have to read those letters? I should probably hide them so NO ONE reads them EVER. This is really embarrassing.
"It's fine mom, really I can handle it. Besides, calling off the engagement will cause tension amongst us. I can handle it, don't worry. I mean it's been so long, we're adults now, maybe things will change" I assured her even though I'm seriously trying to believe my own words.
"If you say so. But I'm here if anything comes up alright?" I nodded. She stood up, kissed my head and left.
That nervous feeling I shook off came back once more. I kept asking myself how Friday is gonna go. I don't even know what to expect from him. I need to stop thinking too much about this.
I didn't have work to do until after the marriage so I was bored. I settled for bing-watching some series on my laptop.
~~~~~~~~
It was finally Friday. I was nervous as hell. it was 6:30pm and my parents were already yelling for me to come down.
I wore an elegant high-low cocktail dress in a deep navy blue color. It has a fitted bodice with a V-neckline and three-quatter-length sleeves. There's an embroidery in silver or light gray on the front. I wore sliver heels to match. My hair was put in a low chignon bun.
I was ready, I guess?
I finally came down. My parents and Dylan drowning me in praises. We got in the car and headed for the vampire lord house. We passed the house where I was to live with Mason after the marriage. It was huge and beautiful.
The style of the houses here were different from ours. The houses here were extravagant and classy, while ours were kind of ordinary and homey. Don't get me wrong though, we were rich so probably just a difference in taste? I may be bias though.
Nervousness churning my stomach reminding me of where we were going. I was going to be normal and neutral and wait for him to give a lead of how the night is going to go.
We arrived at the Caddel's house. It was huge too. It was my first time being here. Mr and Mrs caddel were outside waiting for us.
The vampire lord and my dad shook hands and exchange greetings while my mom and the Mrs caddel hugged. I didn't pay attention to what they were saying tho, my eyes were stuck on Mason's.
He was still handsome. Tall with his dark hair styled in a loose natural waves. The length falling just over the forehead, framing his face and emphasizing his facial features. He wore a black three-piece suit. He was really handsome. I couldn't stop staring. He was looking at me.
Someone cleared their throat and we broke out of the staring competition we seem to be engaging. I turned to look at my mom and she raised her brows.
Elle, it has been a long time. You've grown to be a beautiful young woman. We're so lucky" Mrs caddel said, flattering me.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see Mason slightly rolling his eyes.
"Thank you Mrs caddel, you look gorgeous as always" I replied
"A polite beautiful young lady" she said patting my hair. I just smiled.
"Mason you look handsome, more than you were as a boy" my mom said
"Thank you Mrs Benjamin. You look lovely as well." he said. His deep voice made my heart flutter.
"Let's not keep them outside" Mason's dad said, ushering us inside.
Mason and I were left behind. He gave me a smile that even Dylan could tell was forced.
"Elle, it's been a long time. Let's go in" he said and walked inside.
This isn't going well.
