This chapter contains a lot of information about the history of Elmanar. Basically, this chapter is an info dump.

After a short nap, I woke up feeling pretty good mentally. Physically... well, sleeping on a desk isn't the most comfortable, but whatever.

Looking at the time, it seemed like the teacher was about to come. I adjusted my clothes and sat properly, waiting for the teacher to enter the class.

The theory teacher was a rather pleasant person, the complete opposite of Aveline. He was a teacher with many years of teaching experience. Even though he only taught dry theory subjects, his teaching method was not boring. The scores his students achieved were almost all very good.

His name was Herm-

*Swoosh* the sound of the door being pulled open echoed.

'Here he is'

A distinguished elderly gentleman entered the room. His silver hair was impeccably groomed, and his amber eyes held a depth of wisdom. Dressed in a comfortable yet sophisticated manner, he was the epitome of elegance.

Stepping up to the podium, he spoke softly.

"Greetings class, my name is Herman Revaz. I will be teaching you world history for the upcoming period. I hope you will cooperate."

As he spoke, a warm smile appeared on his lips, a smile that no one could resist.

After the introduction, he began his teaching process. His lecture only consisted of basic knowledge about history. It was extremely boring. But under his teaching style, that boredom turned into charm.

Perhaps others would not know, but Herman used his skills in his lessons. His skill allowed him to attract attention and convey information in a way that was easy to understand for the audience. It was only a low-level skill, but he used it very precisely. It helped the students absorb the dry lessons more easily.

...

"Now, let's talk about The First Great Catastrophe. Does anyone here know about it?"

'The First Great Catastrophe...' I thought to myself.

Glancing around, Herman's eyes suddenly stopped on me. He smiled, and I felt that something bad was about to happen.

'Don't-' the corner of my eye couldn't help but twitch.

"Danz Grayson, right? Can you tell me what you know about the First Great Catastrophe?" He glanced at the class list and called my name.

'Ugh...' I sighed inwardly. I stood up very reluctantly.

I didn't know much about that great disaster, the novel didn't mention it much. Hopefully my answer won't have too many mistakes.

I pretended to be thinking and slowly replied to Herman.

"The First Great Catastrophe marked a turning point for the entire world. It was the era when the Elves and Dwarves first appeared on our planet. Simultaneously, our planet's volume expanded dramatically, leading to numerous natural disasters for an extended period. Hence, it was named the Great Catastrophe."

The original novel didn't give any detailed information about that cataclysm, what I said was just the most basic information that everyone should know.

Herman looked at me for a while and smiled.

"Alright, you can sit down."

'Phew'. I sighed in relief.

Then, Herman's voice continued to speak.

"As our classmate Grayson said, the First Great Catastrophe was a huge milestone that marked the complete change of the world."

"Going deeper into the cause of that event, we have to mention the Elves and Dwarves. They are the core cause of the change of the world."

Oh? This is new. From what the original novel tells, I only know that the Elves and Dwarves appeared at the same time as the great disaster. I didn't know they were the cause.

"This is not really a secret, because when those two races appeared, it caused quite a stir."

"According to historical documents, the Elves and Dwarves joined hands to experiment with creating a long-distance teleportation gate. The gate can teleport between planets regardless of distance by paying a large amount of resources. The reason why they created the gate has not been revealed. Both races always kept their mouths shut when we humans asked them about it. According to scholars, their planet experienced some kind of disaster that caused them to create the gate and migrate to another place to live."

Whatever the reason is, it must not be good, I guarantee it. No one would leave their mother planet to go somewhere else unless that planet is no longer habitable. Maybe those hypotheses are partly correct.

"According to their stories, the appearance of these two races on our planet was a mistake. An unforeseen anomaly caused their world to collide with ours during the activation sequence, resulting in a planetary merger."

I see, I see.

"As you know, our planet was previously a normal planet, without mana. Humans did not have any Status Board or awakening. Thanks to the fusion with the mana-filled planet of the Elves and Dwarves, mana began to slowly enter our planet from the universe"

"The fusion led to volumetric amplification and geological changes on this planet. That caused many natural disasters, which continued for a long time before stabilizing"

"The entering of mana also led to many species of creatures mutating. Animals became more aggressive and dangerous. Plants became larger and stronger, and some species even produced new toxins. Humans also mutated, which we call awakening. The rate of awakening people also increased over time as the amount of mana in the air became thicker"

"After the natural disasters subsided, the geology stopped changing. The world was divided into four continents that have remained to this day."

Herman then projected the image of the current world map.

On the projection is an image of four large continents separated by a vast ocean.

In the upper left corner of the map is the continent of Vedast, the continent where humanity lives. This is a large continent formed after the fusion of the continents in the world before the great catastrophe. Simply put, it is the entire land of the previous world combined together plus some lands rising from the sea.

In the upper right corner of the map is the continent of Athene, the territory of the Elves. This continent was formed after the fusion of two worlds. The Elves decided to choose it as the settlement of the entire race.

Below the continent of Athene is the continent of Romulus, the land of the Dwarves. Similar to the Elves, this continent also appeared after the two planets merged.

And the last, most mysterious, and unexplored continent, also the largest, is Uvis. No one has ever returned from there alive. All explorers sent there have disappeared without a trace, except for one who came back severely wounded both physically and mentally, and died shortly after. Since then, Uvis has been called the Land of the Dead, or simply the Forbidden Continent, Forbidden Land.

All 4 continents are separated by the ocean. The only way to move from one continent to another is by the Teleportation Gate. Currently, the territories of Humans, Elves, and Dwarves are connected by teleportation gates. Only the Forbidden Land does not have one. The only way to enter the Forbidden Land is to cross the ocean.

Well, there is another way, but I will definitely never use it, and I can't use it either, so I don't need to mention it.

"I'm sure everyone here knows about these four continents, so I won't go into it further". Herman continued.

"Back to the First Great Catastrophe. After stabilizing the economy, politics, and society, the three races held a meeting together. Through that meeting, the races decided on their own territories, and the planet was renamed Elmanar, thus starting the first year of the Elmanar calendar."

"After the meeting, the Elves and Dwarves returned to their territories, and humanity also started a new life. That was the end of the First Great Catastrophe."

'And that's the end of class'. I looked at the time on my BracePhone and thought to myself.

"It seems like the class is over for today. Let's end the lesson here, see you next time". Herman said and smiled warmly, he closed the thick history book in his hand and walked out of the classroom.

'A useful lesson'

That's my honest thought. I lack a lot of basic knowledge of this world. Thanks to Professor Herman's lesson today, I learned a lot about Elmanar that the novel didn't mention.

Well, I probably won't use this knowledge much, but I have the right to be curious and learn, right?

Author here. This chapter contains too much information. I had to think a lot to avoid the information being disjointed when explaining. And it's pretty hard for me to exactly explain it in English...If there's anything you don't understand, just comment and ask and I'll try to explain it more clearly.
