Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

For Akira, who was a bit of an otaku, studying quirks at home was very meaningful. So far, he had become familiar with the basic use of his electricity quirk and air manipulation.

Opening his right hand, blue electric currents crackled in the air. With a thought, the blue current instantly hit the glass on the sink five meters away.

As expected, the glass shattered, and the pieces started falling to the floor. Akira waved his left hand, and an invisible force appeared, lifting the shards and guiding them into the trash can.

Looking at his hands, each possessing different powers, Akira smiled slightly. "It's time to apply to study in this hero-filled country," he said.

The country he planned to visit was full of powerful individuals. Currently, the major forces were still in a period of relative stability. However, once the "Sludge Incident" occurred, a new era would begin.

Akira didn't worry about the language barrier. The former owner of his body had been proficient in eight languages and excelled in academics. Naturally, Akira had inherited these talents.

There was an organization back home that supported underprivileged yet high-achieving students like Akira. They were more than willing to help him achieve his goals.

Traveling abroad was primarily an issue of obtaining a visa. Because he was going for studies, the visa had been extended. However, the local office reminded Akira that he would have to support himself once he arrived, as they couldn't fund his monthly expenses indefinitely.

Akira had assured them that he would manage on his own once abroad.

The process of studying abroad went smoothly. This world was different from the one he knew—things that seemed complicated were simpler here.

With only a week left before his departure on October 15th, Akira anticipated stepping into the land of heroes and exploring the world he knew only from stories.

Akira was eager to see if he could change things in this reality that were set in stone in the anime.

While Midoriya might be the main protagonist here, Akira had his own role to play. Whether he could match or surpass someone wielding One For All was still unknown.

A week later.

Akira had packed his bags and boarded the plane. Over the past few days, he had saved a significant amount of money by engaging in minor tasks using his quirks. Now, with 160,000 yen (around 10,000 yuan), he felt prepared for this new chapter.

He knew that being in the homeland of heroes required discretion. He couldn't make money by dubious means and needed to maintain a low profile.

Upon landing, he was ready to take a taxi to Hiraoka High School when an explosion caught his attention.

"Boom!"

"Get out of my way! I'll kill this guy!" a man shouted. Through the dissipating smoke, Akira spotted a man with oversized arms towering over another man, who was trembling on the ground.

"Are quirks used so recklessly here?" Akira muttered, rubbing his forehead. He hadn't even left the airport and already encountered such chaos.

Japan, as the hub of heroes, indeed had a high crime rate.

Back home, Akira had spent over a month without witnessing such a crime at the airport. Now, here it was, right before him.

"Don't kill me! I'll give you all my money!" the panicked middle-aged man on the ground pleaded.

The attacker, who had a strength-based quirk that allowed his arms to enlarge and gain immense power, sneered in anger. "You tried to leave behind my back. Unforgivable!" He raised his arm for a powerful strike.

Akira usually didn't meddle in others' affairs. But with the rescue system he had, he couldn't simply ignore this scene.

As he approached, building up power, a silver blur rushed past him and sent the attacker flying with a powerful kick.

"Apprehend the suspect!" the silver-clad hero commanded, then offered a hand to the frightened man. "Are you hurt?"

"Thank you, Ingenium!" The man sobbed, clutching the hero's arm in gratitude.

The police quickly secured the assailant as a crowd gathered. They erupted into cheers when they recognized the hero: "Ingenium! Ingenium, the hero!"

Akira whispered to himself, noting the hero's presence. He hadn't expected to encounter the well-known hero Ingenium, the leader of a prominent hero agency in Tokyo and older brother to Tenya Ida.

Although Akira had been ready to act, he wasn't sure if he could have subdued the criminal with just one move. His lightning quirk was still at level one, capable of repelling an opponent but not necessarily knocking them out.

"Please keep calm and disperse," Ingenium said as the scene cleared. He guided the criminal into the police car but paused to glance at Akira, who was standing nearby. The young man had seemed poised to intervene earlier, which intrigued the hero.

However, seeing Akira now, Ingenium couldn't discern what his quirk was and assumed he was just a bystander.

As the police car drove away, its sirens blaring, Akira bought an orange drink from a vending machine and sipped it as he walked out of the airport.

Outside, people were still buzzing about the incident, demonstrating their admiration for heroes. It seemed that in this society, as long as heroes were around, nothing was beyond resolution.

The people's trust in heroes was clear, and crime didn't seem to faze them. However, Akira knew that the era of stability was about to change, and darkness was on the horizon.
