Chapter 3 - Lupir, the pet

The condition he was in was delicate, Lupir should plan his return well, especially the path that would be the most difficult, once he joined his clan he would seek to repay with interest everything he had been through, as a werewolf the better his condition the stronger the level his transformation reaches, When he faced his six pursuers alone, despite being badly wounded, he managed to kill three of them and escape, because of the conditions under which he was put to the test his performance had been excellent, but unfortunately his glorious transformation into a large, three-meter-tall bipedal werewolf had been reduced to this.

However, Lupir knew that his strength was still there, hidden inside him. He could feel its latent energy, ready to be unleashed again. And when it did, his enemies would know that Lupir was not a wolf to be underestimated.

He just needed to recover, to get stronger. And then he would seek his revenge, he would show them the terror of his fury.

While he was eating, Lupir heard footsteps coming closer and closer. When he turned his face, he saw only an old man who was keeping a slow, steady pace towards him.

He was wearing a simple white shirt and worn jeans, with a pair of comfortable shoes that looked like they had been worn for years. His face was wrinkled by time, with deep lines.

The old man's face was a map of deep lines, yet his features were soft and calm.

His nose was straight and simple, without any notable features. His mouth was small, with thin, pale lips that curved slightly upwards, giving him the air of a kindly sage.

His gray beard was neatly trimmed, highlighting the lines of his face and giving him an air of authority. His gray hair was cut close, revealing his small ears.

His crystal blue eyes, although tired, still shone with a soft light, those deep-set eyes watched him curiously, which made Lupir cautious.

He carried nothing in his hands, just a white handkerchief in his shirt pocket. There was nothing special or remarkable about him, just an ordinary man who seemed to have spent his life working hard.

When the old man approached Lupir, he stopped and looked at the wounded dog with an expression of disdain, almost pity. His eyes watched Lupir with a mixture of surprise and disapproval, as if he were seeing Na animal that had let itself get into this situation.

The old man shook his head slowly, his face showing a "poor me" expression. He seemed to be thinking: "How did it come to this? You were a proud wolf, and now you're here, wounded and helpless".

— You're in a bad way, my friend," said the old man, his voice soft but with a tinge of criticism.

Lupir felt a wave of shame as he looked at that old man, he knew he was in a difficult situation, but he didn't need someone to remind him of it.

And besides, that old man was crazy, why was he talking to a dog?

A quick thought crossed Lupir's mind: the old man knew who he was from the start

Just as he was about to answer him, the old man interrupted

— All right, if you don't want to talk, I'll just pretend I never saw you

The old man went on his way, leaving the poor Lupir stunned, staring at his back until he disappeared from view.

What is it with these people? There are wise men everywhere who can see my past with just a glance.

A few minutes later, the old man who had just crossed paths with Lupir was standing in a corner of the street staring at a bag of garbage.

— so why don't you answer me? — shouted the old man

This attracted the attention of a few passers-by

— Poor Mr. Lin, it seems that his illness is getting worse every day — someone commented

The old man continued;

— Everyone's going to give me a cold shoulder today, that's fine, I may be a lonely old man, but not lonely enough to be in such bad company — said Mr. Lin. He angrily kicked the garbage bag, which fell over on its side.

A few seconds later, Mr. Lin. Picks up a brick lying in the corner of a small wall under construction

— Boy, wouldn't you like to join me? — asked the old man

The Silence irritated the old man

— Another rude one! — angry again Mr. Lin. He grabbed the brick and threw it over the wall and went on his way muttering.

A muffled sound drifted through the air, a body fell unconscious with a trickle of blood on its head. If Lupir had been present, he would have recognized that the fallen man with a brick by his side was one of his pursuers, who had separated from the other two to cover more ground in his pursuit.

At the Phoenix building, I got up from my chair, stretching my arms and back after having sat all day doing paperwork. It was gratifying to see that most of what was booked for the whole week had already been done.

I looked at the screen of my cell phone and saw that it was already seventeen o'clock.

I said goodbye to my colleagues and my boss and set off on my journey home.

The sun had already started to set, casting a golden glow over the city, as I boarded the bus that would take me back home. The vehicle was almost empty, with only a few passengers scattered around the seats.

I found a comfortable spot near the window and sat down. The bus engine rumbled, and we began to move, out of the terminal and into the city traffic.

I looked out of the window and saw the busy streets, stores and buildings illuminated by the twilight.

The sun was slowly setting, casting long shadows on the asphalt.

As the bus continued on its route, the traffic slowed down and the number of passengers increased. A group of students got on the bus, laughing and chatting animatedly.

The driver announced the next stop and I checked that it was close to mine. There were still a few stations to go before we reached the next stop

The bus continued its journey, passing through main and side streets. I felt relaxed, watching the city go by out of the window and thinking about my day.

Finally, the driver announced my stop and I stood up, feeling relieved and headed for the next stop, where it didn't take more than a few minutes for the last bus of the day to arrive, Trevor was as usual in the driver's seat, I nodded as I got on, and he did the same, I positioned myself near the window, as it is my habit to watch the road even though I do it practically every day, I never get tired of it.

After a few stops, I arrived at my destination. Seeing the small store still open, I went there to buy some cheese snacks, I just couldn't resist.

When I got to the door of the market, I saw something that caught my eye. Na injured dog was lying on the ground near the entrance. It was whimpering quietly, and its coat was dirty and bloody.

My heart squeezed at the sight of the dog suffering. I crouched down beside him and looked at his wounds. I noticed a deep cut on his leg and there was a lot of clotted blood

I couldn't help but be moved

— what happened to this dog here? — I asked Mr. Davis

— It showed up here this afternoon," he replied, "it's probably a mongrel that got into a fight with some other street dogs.

I never believed that I could solve all the world's problems, but I firmly believed that I could solve this poor dog's. By fate, I would be his benefactor.

— I can take him home and look after him," I offered.

Mr. Davis smiled.

— Thank you, young man. You're very kind. Take him and look after him. If you need any help, I'm available

He thanked me and helped me lift the dog. I put him in my arms and

Carried him home

Along the way, the dog looked at me with sad eyes

And he seemed strangely frightened, which made me feel even more sorry for the poor thing who, apart from living on the streets, must also have suffered from human malice.

He was so docile from the very first contact, he's certainly a good animal, and I felt that I wouldn't regret this decision

— Don't worry, you'll be fine — I told him to calm down, as I could feel him trembling slightly.

Lupir didn't know what to do from the moment that frightening creature appeared, at first it looked like an ordinary human being, there was nothing remarkable about it, but Lupir realized as soon as he looked at its face that he was facing something that was nothing short of the god of death himself and when he touched it, he felt all that was left of his strength drain away, he barely had the strength to resist the injuries and now in his hands the chance of escaping was slim, all he had to do was wait, because his fate no longer belonged to him.

As he walked home, Desmond didn't notice the eyes following him in the distance.

— Are you sure it's Lupir? — asked the dark-haired young man

— It smells like him, let's go quickly," replied the burly, balding man.

This time you won't be able to get away, Lupir," he said, smiling as his eyes lit up with a demonic red glow.
