Her breathing hurts. Hit after hit. Again. and again. and again. She wanted to to leave. She needed to leave. It was torturous. She was scared. Terrified. She didn't want to face him. The blood. It leaked everywhere. God it was all over his hands. The body. It just rotted where it was left. Killed. She helped. Was that a crime? She cleaned. He hid. The body was now gone. Blood out of sight. Blue lights shined. He smacked her. A bone snapped. She screamed. Police lights. He got away with it. She went to a psych ward. White walls. White bed. White sheets. Blood. Her wrist. She fought her way out. She hit him. Once. Twice. His nose twisted inhumanely. She looked like a monster. Was she?
Annalise hit the punching bag. She forgot gloves again. She didn't stop. One fist, then the next, she kicked it, then repeat. She hadn't realised Andrei was behind her.
"Annalise." he stated. She stopped.
"Captain." she replied.
It was now awkward silence. Andrei didn't know how to confront her. Annalise was lost in her distant thoughts. "Get dressed and meet me in the briefing room in 10. Everyone's waiting." the Captain said sternly, no arguments. Annalise didn't want an argument anyways. She was too exhausted for that. She complied, heading back off to her barracks. The shower felt like faint punches on her back. The soap felt like another layer of skin. She rinsed herself. She felt like she was being hit, though it felt oddly nice. She slid into her top and cargo pants. Her comfort clothes. She tied her hair up nicely, a tight bun, it pulled her hair to a satisfying, comfortable pain. She tied her boots. Walking down the hall, it felt endless, like a light at the end of a dark tunnel.
She opened the briefing room door. "You made it. Take a seat." Andrei spoke up, standing from his chair. She did so. The chair was so comfy. "Yooo- earth to Annalise? Anyone in there?" The familiar voice of Cairo reached her ears. "Of course there is." She replied. Xander snickered. "Sure thing Gold. Sure." She rolled her eyes, he was a prick. She still will never understand how he made it into the Task Force. "Enough." Andrei's bold voice made sure to keep everyone quiet. Probably the only thing she liked about him. "Now, to the topic at hand. We don't have too much to go on about. Well, we do have a new group of cadets who need to be trained for the forces, and this year it is now our duty to do so. No complaints, especially from you Xander." Andrei was very quick with what things were about. Unless it was about animals. He got so defensive over those it made everyone laugh, even Annalise. "Whatever you say Captain." Xander said sounding cocky. "Everyone dismissed. Except you Ann, stay behind for me." She nodded silently. Xander let out a teasing 'ooooo', Cairo just smacked the back of Xander's head as they left the room.
"Finally, those crackheads are gone... anyways Ann, I'm worried, and before you shut me down for this listen to me." God she already wanted to duct tape his mouth shut, she hated his little lecturing conversations. "Ann, you seem to be zoning out a lot, it's starting to concern me. It could distract you from your duties." Andrei stated. He wasn't wrong, but it annoyed her that she was being treated like a child. "Just stop already Captain." She stood up. "Annalise just listen-" He was cut off by a slam of a door. "Damn it Gold..." Andrei silently cursed. Annalise didn't hear it anyways. She walked. Her barracks opened. She looked at her bed. Just stared. It looked comfy. But it never felt it. She changed. Pyjamas. They were comfy. Cozy. It was cold. She fell onto the bed. It felt like nails. She closed her eyes. Blink. Blink. Blink. She still couldn't sleep. Ruffle. Her blankets moved. She turned over. She fell into the sleep. Exhaustion made her eyes glue shut. He body gave in. Numb. She couldn't feel. She fell into the black of sleep.
