Chapter 36 - Annoying people and dangerous people _ Part 4

The prison guards had special equipment, different from any other prison in the country.

Most guards in other prisons in Aether were scarce when compared to the total of prisoners.

But in the special Spartan prison on Spartan Island, it was different.

To start with, there were very few people who could use PhySEC abilities when compared to normal humans.

And also, the security there was tight.

From start to end, each cell was made from antiPhySEC material.

-Prisoner 30-11-A.S. Mike Blood - Said a guard from behind an armored window.

At some point, he was told to advance by himself. The guards threw him into a hallway and closed the door behind him.

At the end of the hallway, there was another security door and a guard behind the armored window.

For any other prison in the country, this looked like a real one, the others were just small buildings, most of those in decay.

Yes, even the prisons all around the country were in decay, there was no budget to spend on prisons.

And the only budget they had, was placed on building this prison.

But why was the security so high in this place? It was because of the people who were supposed to be imprisoned here.

But something was not just right with this place when the guard behind the window was talking to himself.

-Ability user, I see, block 2 then...- He was ignoring Mike's presence.

-"Of course, I am an ability user man, why would I be sent here if not?" - He was thinking why a non-user would be sent to a special prison,

But found no answer.

-Well, all done, your cell is the number 11, leave now. - The guard, like all others, was wearing a black military uniform.

Weird, because the military doesn't use those uniforms in Aether, but this was a special kind of place after all.

The guard opened the gate by pressing a switch in the cabin.

He still had the handcuffs on, those ones were really antiPhySEC handcuffs.

It looked like all tools in here were antiPhySEC.

Mike thought the prison looked like a real one, worlds apart from the others in the country, but being in a different country he would finally see what a real prison looks like.

He reached a place where was ordered to place his hands in a hole in the wall.

-"Looks weird"- He introduced his hands there, and got locked up.

But in just a few seconds, a guard placed something on both wrists and took off the handcuffs.

By taking off the handcuffs, he got free and looked at what they placed on his wrists.

It was a metal wristband.

-AntiPhySEC I guess - he murmured.

-No shit! Really, genius?! - Said the guard behind the wall.

He wanted to answer the sarcasm back but knew that it would complicate things for him.

Using all his willpower, he swallowed his words.

After some minutes he finally reached the last destination, cell block number 2.

But before entering, he quickly got instructed by the guard in the next armored window.

It looked like the guards had no direct interaction with prisoners.

-You were told your cell number, now, when you get inside, go right there and go to sleep, don't you dare to stay outside the cell or will be punished, I don't care if you don't go to sleep, but be silent, is 4 in the morning

As if Mike didn't know it; it took time to arrive to the Island, they moved him yesterday, and was moved directly to the prison.

-Also, the alarm sounds at 5 in the morning or so, be sure to have your cell clean before 6 in the morning; whatever happens I don't care, but those who make trouble are doomed, that's my warning, now, don't lose time and go to your cell

The guard was not very friendly, and that was understandable, very much indeed.

He knew or not if the other was a real criminal or not, it would make no difference.

That was his job anyway.

And all guards used masks, exactly the same kind of mask for every one of them.

That way, no matter who they mess up with, they would not be recognized.

Each mask modifies the voice, making it difficult to identify them by voice, as their voices sound very similar.

As the door opened, he searched his cell directly, but while looking around, he saw people were already waking up in each cell.

Each time a door was opened it made a lot of noise, it was understandable.

Some of them were talking in low voices between them.

Mike even heard his name being told by someone.

There were very few prisoners in the cell block number 2.

There were 20 prisoners, including him, and each cell held only one prisoner, making a total of 20 cells, the maximum capacity of the cell block.

-Looks like the man finally arrived - Said one of the men in a loud voice without fear of being heard by the guard.

-Mike, his name's Mike, I remember correctly - Said another man in a lower voice than the other.

Mike could not help but feel that voice sounded very familiar.

Very very VERY close to his own cell, just before getting inside it, at cell 12 he saw the owner of the voice.

He stopped walking for a moment but had no intention of annoying the guards and kept walking.

But he saw the owner of that voice.

He could not clearly understand why that man was here.

-"Didn't he escape the police station before? What the hell? Maybe I saw it incorrectly, right?" - He was surprised finally.

While entering the cell block, he saw that the upper floor was inaccessible, at least from below in there.

He saw the guard patrolling from that floor, it looked like it was the floor for guards only.

The cell was closed automatically, probably was the guards in there.

He felt no need to sleep, and the people in the other cells were talking in low voices.

He decided to ask to quit his doubt at once.

-Aren't you the drunken one that wanted to kill that girl Rose at the city center?- He had no worries about talking directly.

If talking in riddles, when would the answers arrive?

-So, you remember me?-

-I knew it, so you never really scaped the police?- But instead of an answer only silence remained.

-Hey?

-Don't make noise, after the reveille at 5:30, for now, don't speak much

He noticed the people started to talk less until finally, only silence remained.

For him, it looked like the criminals were being silent and obedient.

-"Are they really criminals? Haha!... wait, are they really criminal?" - The first question was joking,

But after thinking about it, he found it strange.

The man in the cell beside his cell was really not a criminal, at worst he would be fined and be free.

And he was falsely accused of crimes that didn't really exist.

He was indeed somehow surprised for the first time in a long time.

Maybe not all prisoners here are bad people, and looking at the situation deeply, maybe even the real criminals here are not as dangerous as expected.

That was what he thought, but discarded this way of thinking while looking at the scene in the cell in front of him.

On the other side, meters away from him, in that cell, a man was looking at him with a weird smile.

He was... laughing.

He moved his lips like saying something.

Mike tried to read his lips, what was he trying to tell him?

He noticed that all prisoners had their metal wristbands on. It looked impossible to take it off.

The man trying to talk to him was no different.

He finally understood the words when a man started making hand gestures.

"You... Are... Dead"

The message was clear, and Mike was not the one who let others bully him.

He showed a strange facial expression like he was shocked for not understanding.

He truly was; why would anyone want to kill him? Especially someone he had never met before.

The other was laughing again but froze when Mike, without changing his facial expression, showed him his middle finger.

"Try... bitch..." That was his words.

And probably the man really understood his words.

He knew he was challenging a dangerous guy, but what could he do? Let the other bully him without even knowing why?

-"There are annoying people, those are idiots, and there are dangerous people too; the worse comes to worst, there are dangerous idiots"-

It was not like he was really fully shocked at why someone would kill him, there were some possibilities and he could think of a few names.

Erick Stone, the Shady bastard from the company armory, and even who knows, those from the house bomb incident before.

He had not many enemies, and there were a few more he could think but discarded them.

But one thing doesn't make the other less important.

The guy there was really dangerous, or he thought so.

But some problems can only be solved in the future.

For now... -"Would this thing really cancel the PhySEC energy?"- He was planning in his mind.

Every detail can be useful for future problems, or not...
