Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Chapter 6

"Tsk tsk tsk! What a handsome face! Even with these glasses, he still looks incredibly handsome, and they add a touch of elegance!"

Li Ye gazed at his reflection in the mirror, a smile spreading across his face as he admired his own appearance, feeling a swell of narcissism.

Dressed in casual attire, Li Ye stepped outside.

As he wandered the streets of America, he couldn't help but notice how different they were from his own home. The streets were sparsely populated, unlike his own, which bustled with crowds at night.

After aimlessly strolling around and finding little of interest, Li Ye decided to utilize the invisibility power granted by his snake charm. He became invisible and took to the sky, soaring above the city to admire the vibrant lights of the most prosperous city in the United States beneath a blanket of stars.

Suddenly, Li Ye noticed a red figure darting swiftly between the towering buildings. The figure moved in an unusual manner; it wasn't flying like him but seemed to be swinging instead!

'That red figure, swinging between buildings… could it be… Spider-Man?'

Li Ye thought of the familiar superhero, but then he hesitated—wasn't he in a world based on movies? By this timeline, Spider-Man shouldn't be appearing yet!

Despite his confusion, Li Ye decided to follow the figure, maintaining a careful distance so he wouldn't be noticed while ensuring he wouldn't lose sight of it.

As he trailed the figure into a secluded alley, Li Ye could clearly see a group of gangsters surrounding a terrified student.

"What do you want? I don't have any money! Please don't come any closer…" the student pleaded, panic evident in his voice.

"Shut up, you little brat! You think you can play us for fools? Get him!" the gangster boss barked, gesturing at his underlings to advance on the student.

"Ah! No, please!"

Just as the gangsters were about to make their move, a few strands of white spider silk suddenly descended from above, ensnaring the two thugs and lifting them off the ground.

"Who's doing this?!" the gangster boss shouted in alarm.

"Of course, it's your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!" came the playful voice as Spider-Man dropped down from above.

"Didn't you know? I own New York City! And around here, we don't tolerate violence!"

"Spider-Man!!"

"Wait, you mean that superhero? Where? Where? I'm such a huge fan! I need his autograph! My entire family loves Spider-Man! Oh, Spider-Man, the hero of New York! I adore you!"

Spider-Man feigned a shocked expression, placing his hands over his head, still momentarily distracted.

"Let me go! Or else I'll be forced to take action!" the gangster snarled, pulling a gun from his pocket in a threatening manner.

"Oh! I'm so terrified!" Spider-Man replied sarcastically, then swiftly shot two strands of webbing from his wrist, pinning the gangster boss against the wall.

"Kids shouldn't play with guns! You'll all end up in prison!" Spider-Man scolded them, striking a heroic pose with his hands on his hips, as if he were teaching a lesson.

"Spider-Man, please! I can't go to jail! Don't do this to me!" the gangster pleaded, tears welling in his eyes.

"Zip it!" Spider-Man shot another web that sealed the gangster's mouth, silencing him effectively.

"I don't negotiate with criminals! You better accept your fate and go to prison!"

"Thank you, Spider-Man! You're my hero!" The student exclaimed, rushing over with gratitude shining in his eyes.

"Anytime! Just remember, this alley has its fair share of punks. Avoid it next time!" Spider-Man advised, sounding almost like a concerned guardian.

"I will! But I was just taking a shortcut home after my friend left me behind…" the student admitted, looking a bit ashamed.

"Promise me you won't come this way again!"

"I promise! Hey, Spider-Man, can I get a picture with you?" the student asked, pulling a small camera from his bag, excitement bubbling in his voice.

"Wow! You actually have a camera?" Spider-Man responded, his eyebrows raised in surprise.

"Yes! I taught myself how to use it. I want to be a photographer one day!" The student shared his dreams eagerly.

"That's awesome! Keep at it, and I know you'll achieve your dream!" Spider-Man encouraged him, flashing a thumbs-up.

After taking a few pictures with the enthusiastic student, Spider-Man called the police to report the gangsters and then swung away on his webbing.

As he swung high in the air, Spider-Man suddenly heard someone call out, "Hello, failed man!"

"Wow!" The unexpected voice startled him, causing Spider-Man to lose his grip momentarily and plummet from mid-air.

"Whoooosh!" He quickly shot a webbing to grab hold of a tall building, swinging himself back up.

"Who's there?!" he yelled in surprise.

After a moment of silence, there was no response.

"Could it be a hallucination?" he wondered aloud.

"You're not imagining things!" Li Ye declared as he withdrew his invisibility, revealing himself mid-air.

"Whoa!" Spider-Man exclaimed, taken aback.

"You… I can't believe my eyes! Were you invisible just now? And how are you flying? That goes against Newton's first law—this is incredible! Hey, can you teach me how to do that? I mean, I have my webs to swing from buildings, but if I could fly, I would never need to rely on this! Oh, wait, I forget—I'm a spider! It must look strange to see a flying spider…"

Once Spider-Man regained his composure, he began to chatter excitedly.

"Stop!" Li Ye interrupted, raising a hand in a stopping gesture, a little annoyed.

"Oops!" Spider-Man exaggeratedly covered his mouth with both hands, finally taking a moment to really look at Li Ye's appearance.

"I remember now! You're the Superman who appeared last night!" Spider-Man said, eyes wide with surprise.

At that moment, Li Ye removed his glasses, nodding in acknowledgment.

"That's right, it's me!"

"My God! I can't believe my luck! I'm meeting Superman in person! Are you here to find me?"

"That's exactly it! I wanted to meet some of New York City's famous superheroes!" Li Ye replied enthusiastically.

"Hahaha! I didn't expect to be so popular!" Spider-Man chuckled.

"Of course! I read about you in the Daily Bugle!" Li Ye said.

"Jameson has a mustache! I can't believe he's giving me so much publicity while also blackmailing me!" Spider-Man remarked, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Didn't you sell him some of your photos?" Li Ye asked casually.

"That's right! But that mustache is too greedy! He offered only two hundred dollars…"

Suddenly, Spider-Man paused, realization dawning on him.

"What did you just say?"

"I asked, didn't you sell him your own photo?" Li Ye clarified.

Even though Li Ye hadn't spoken out loud, Spider-Man read the shape of his lips clearly and gasped in shock, "Peer! De! Pak!"

"Who the hell are you? What do you want from me?" Peter Parker, under the Spider-Man mask, asked, his expression turning pale and anxious.

"Calm down! I have no harmful intentions!" Li Ye reassured him.

"I'm a hero out of pure interest! Allow me to introduce myself—my name is Li Ye, and I reside in Queens, at No. xxx!"

"You actually revealed your real name?!" Spider-Man exclaimed, wide-eyed.

The significance of his secret identity weighed heavily on Spider-Man; he understood that if others learned who he truly was, it could endanger his family, particularly his beloved Aunt May.

"Why would I hold back?" Li Ye replied confidently.

"Don't you fear for your loved ones?" Spider-Man pressed, still cautious.

"Of course not! I have no relatives in this world, and I'm powerful enough to defend myself. Anyone who dares to challenge me will face their reckoning!" Li Ye stated coolly.

"Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to touch on such a sensitive topic…" Spider-Man stammered, realizing he might have overstepped.

"Don't worry about it; it doesn't affect me at all!" Li Ye waved dismissively, his demeanor relaxed.

With both of them aware of each other's true identities and a newfound camaraderie beginning to form, Spider-Man felt his inner vigilance dissipate, leading them into an engaging conversation.

"I'm curious—do you spit out that web yourself, or is it some kind of device?" Li Ye inquired, wanting to verify which version of Spider-Man he was dealing with.

"It's a device I designed myself! It can shoot out various types of webbing depending on what I need. For instance, when I need to swing, I can shoot out a long line of silk. If I need to ensnare someone, I can shoot out a web-like strand…" Spider-Man explained proudly, his excitement palpable.

After all, he was just a young man at this point in his life, brimming with youthful passion.

"Amazing! You're a genius!" Li Ye praised wholeheartedly.

'He doesn't seem like Tobey's version of Spider-Man!' Li Ye thought to himself, observing Spider-Man's enthusiasm.

"Li Ye, I watched the video of you defeating those two monsters last night..."
