Chapter 47 - Chapter 47

[1st POV]

"It seems I've killed all of your subordinates, beautiful stranger. I suspect you're here to avenge their deaths?"

The clone said with a smile.

She didn't answer. Not a single muscle on her body twitched, her hands were clasped behind her back as she slowly walked toward my clone.

My instincts gave no warning of danger.

I saw no intention of a hidden attack or trickery, and I didn't think she needed that.

She approaches the clone one step at a time. He did nothing, just grinned and stared at her. She stopped a meter away from him and tilted her head to the side.

"You're not the Isaac Dinklage I need. Where is the real one?"

Lady Shiva said slowly, in a voice pleasant to the ear.

"I can't see him, but I can sense that he's nearby."

'Damn it! How did she manage to figure that out?'

The clone was just as confused, and before he could say anything, she continued her monologue, starting to circle him.

"You look very, very much like the original. Is this some special illusion? I've never seen anything like it before. You really are full of surprises, just as it was in that file."

"What file are you talking about? You managed to dig up information on me that intrigued you this much. Why?"

"You are worth the effort that the Master ordered me to put into verifying your information in this city. Although I still don't understand much."

She completed a full circle around the clone, returning to her original spot, and with a sharp kick, she dispersed him.

Lady Shiva immediately closed her eyes and continued, "I don't want to talk to copies. I need the real you."

It looks like this lady won't let up. I'll have to act and come up with a battle plan.

I created three clones and equipped them with katanas and some firearms.

Then I walked toward her.

She opened her eyes and stared at me intently as if seeing me for the first time.

"Here I am. So, why did you attack me? And are you planning to avenge your subordinates?"

"They aren't my subordinates. I simply gave them orders and they weren't that valuable. They lost to an normal fighter. Alone. However, that does you credit. You are, in any case, worthy of becoming a member of the League of Shadows."

"League of Shadows?"

I pretended to hear the name for the first time.

"A nightclub or a rock band?"

"Hm. Wrong guess but you shouldn't play the fool. This isn't that kind of situation."

"Alright. So, what is this League of Shadows?"

"Come with me, and I'll tell you about it. I'll even introduce you to the head of the organization."

"So, you want me to go with a possibly experienced assassin to an unknown place I've never heard of, where I don't know what's waiting for me?"

I raised an eyebrow.

"That sounds... stupid, don't you think, beautiful stranger? And by the way, I still don't know your name."

"You haven't earned the right to know it. We haven't even faced each other in battle yet..."

"Then let's not delay it for too long."

I smiled even wider, pulled out two daggers, and, with a swift motion, aimed both at her head.

She looked at me somewhat disappointed and quickly blocked, stopping my "strikes" just a few centimeters from her temples.

However, I immediately released the daggers, and they fell behind Lady Shiva.

A second... two... Lady Shiva began to swing her knee, aiming for my stomach... I grabbed her shoulders with both hands and clamped down with an iron grip.

The daggers clinked to the ground.

She struck me in the stomach and tried to pull her leg away from me, but her eyes widened instantly, realizing that something was holding her leg at my stomach.

It was chakra.

I didn't let go.

Then, a moment later, Lady Shiva felt a sharp pain in two places from behind, with two blades sticking out of her chest with blood.

One had definitely pierced her heart, and the other her lung. I added a headbutt to her nose with all my might.

Surprisingly, she managed to pull her leg away from my stomach, quickly got to her feet, and then swiftly punched me in the jaw, sending me flying five meters and dispersing both clones in the process.

At the same time, she quickly pulled the blades out of herself and reached for something in her pocket.

But then my clone, who had been hiding in wait, stopped her with a burst of machine gun fire, grazing her right arm and leg.

A vial containing something green shattered on the ground, and she had to roll away from the attack.

My clone stopped firing at her and switched targets to five assassins who had arrived to assist her.

Meanwhile, reinforcements were approaching from the opposite side and coming for me.

Batgirl and Robin descended from the roof.

Batman and Nightwing didn't just drive up, and they flew in.

I need to get myself a cool car like that.

Then, my clone was dispersed by a precise assassin and their shuriken.

"Are you okay?"

Batgirl asked in a slightly distorted voice.

"Good."

"Why did you need Detective Dinklage as well?"

Batman asked coldly, addressing one of the assassins and giving Lady Shiva the same vial she had dropped earlier.

"We also wanted to make him an offer to join the League, Batman."

The apparent leader of the five replied in a rough voice, "But it seems he declined in..."

He glanced at Lady Shiva, "quite a extreme way."

"I refused because no one properly explained what this 'League of Shadows' group is about with all mysteries and secrets."

I grimaced, rubbing my jaw.

"Kha-gh..."

Lady Shiva coughed up blood.

'How did she not drop dead?'

"L-Lady... Sh-Shiva."

"What?"

"L-Lady Shiva... call me that."

Lady Shiva said with a weak smile.

I couldn't help but notice a strange sensation.

Every time I beat up a woman, they seemed to start treating me better.

This is a strange world.

"Nice to meet you."

I smiled.

Then, the whole Bat-family, and even a couple of assassins, stared at me intently.

'Why were they staring at me like that?'

"We're leaving. If you want, we can continue the fight."

Batman was silent.

A few seconds later, an unknown assassin threw a smoke grenade and disappeared with their fallen assassins.

However, my senses told me the direction they had taken to leave.

They were gone, and I was left alone with the Bat-family.

Batman quickly closed the distance between us and, with a swift kick, sent me into the warehouse wall.

He was by my side just as fast, lifting me off the ground by my chest.

"Who. Are. You?"

Batman asked with emphasis.

I was caught.

It seemed he realized that something was off with me, that I wasn't an ordinary person.

It looked like he had seen my clone even from a distance or maybe something else...

"First of all, you should ask clearer questions. Secondly, for assaulting a police officer, you're looking at a cell and possibly prison time. Thirdly, put me down on the ground, and we can have a proper conversation if you want to hear something from me."

"Who. Are. You?!"

Batman repeated with even more force, not letting go of me.

"Hey, Nightwing?"

I turned my head to Nightwing, "Did anyone hit him on the head today? He's got eidetic memory, yet he doesn't recognize me."

I then turned back to Batman.

"Nice to meet you, Detective Isaac Dinklage, unless you've got some kind of memory loss."

'He was starting to annoy me!'

"You'd better stop clowning around."

Jason Todd "advised" me, "He's on edge right now."

"I'm on edge too."

I bared my teeth and activated my Fear Aura to try to make an impression, but I doubted it would affect someone like him.

But still, it was something. I also infused the air with chakra to add some pressure on him.

[+6 Fear Aura]

Never mind.

"And I'm already in a bad mood. I'm saying this for the last time, Batman. Let. Me. Go. And. We. Will. Talk!"

After a few seconds of waiting, Batman finally let go of me, stepping back a couple of paces.

"Wonderful."

I relaxed a little, "So, where exactly do we begin?"

Then, we were interrupted by the wail of a police siren.

Bad timing.

"Hmm. I can talk now, or some other time. It doesn't matter to me. But I don't want to blow my cover in front of my colleagues."

"Got a lot of secrets?"

Batman asked.

"Probably not less than you."

"Another day. But you won't escape this conversation."

"I wasn't trying to."

I replied, already looking at their backs.

At the same time, I received messages about declining relationships with everyone except Nightwing, which, on the contrary, had improved.

To be continued...
