Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

[1st POV]

After the night I spent with Pamela, I woke up to find her injecting me with some green substance.

"Pam, what are you doing?"

I exclaimed, genuinely alarmed.

I didn't think she meant any harm, but I didn't like that she was doing something to me without asking.

It felt like it could easily lead to something more sinister.

"What are you injecting me with?"

"It's special reagents and serums."

She explained.

"I mixed them together and weakened the original effect. This should help you become stronger. Don't worry, you won't become a meta-human. It will simply enhance your immune system and heal old injuries. I'm going to conduct a treatment course for you, and you'll notice the difference, but it won't be immediate."

"Alright. But next time, at least warn me before doing something to me."

I said, frowning as I realized I didn't feel anything bad, and the System remained silent.

"I'm sorry, darling. I just couldn't help myself."

She smiled.

After spending on the "herbal bed" for a bit, we finally got dressed and took a taxi to Wayne Industries.

Pam even put on a bit of makeup, making it harder to mistake her for the former villainess Poison Ivy.

The business suit she wore replaced her usual "greenery" outfit.

Surprisingly, we were allowed in.

It seemed that the ordinary employees didn't know Poison Ivy's real name, and Pamela had already enchanted the security staff.

The secretary on duty outside Wayne's office reported us to him, and Pamela entered almost immediately after the secretary left Bruce's office.

I stayed behind to wait.

They talked for quite a while.

After two hours of waiting, then another hour of discussions with secretary Maria and half an hour of sipping tea, I started to get bored.

With nothing else to do, I began asking her about various topics while also complimenting the young woman.

Because of this, I even leveled up my "Casanova" skill. If only there were some useful books here, I could work on boosting my intelligence as well.

Instead, I received a new skill that was quite unexpected for me.

We started a conversation about culture, and it turned out that Maria was interested in Japanese culture.

I managed to throw in a few phrases in Japanese, and then:

Attention! You have acquired a new skill:

[You have received a new skill: "Polyglot."]

["Polyglot.": Your ability to learn new languages will improve. The speed of language learning will increase by 2%.]

I was pleased with this result and realized I could also boost my skill level by speaking a bit in my language.

Maria sighed, gasped, and reacted dramatically but didn't seem to understand anything.

Still, it looked like she didn't mind. I gained another level in both "Casanova" and "Polyglot," and I felt quite satisfied with myself.

Afterwards, Bruce and Pamela exited the main boss's office door at Wayne Industries.

The fact that Pamela looked happy and cheery meant that the meeting went well.

Bruce, on the other hand, looked broken and tired, even though he tried to smile.

It seemed to me that his state was more related to the negotiations with her than his usual fight against crime.

Brruce's expression clearly said, "Get out of here quickly; you're driving me crazy."

He gave me only a few words and a handshake before we left together with Pamela.

The negotiations had gone on a friendly note.

Bruce recognized the potential of her research and acknowledged the changes she had made under my influence.

He assured her of a fruitful collaboration, offering her a separate lab and funds for her work and even helping her patent all her inventions.

In the end, everyone would benefit.

With this wonderful news, we headed back "home."

...

[3rd POV]

Gotham, underground base.

In a dimly lit room, a figure was strapped to a bed and connected by numerous wires and an IV drip.

The "patient" had long since awakened and was staring at the ceiling with his one remaining eye.

Two big, muscular guys in leather jackets walked into the room. One of them had a briefcase full of papers on him.

"Boss, how are you feeling?"

"Can't you tell?"

The figure said with a slight shadow of a smile as he propped himself up on his elbows to sit up.

"Have you found him?"

"Yes. The bastard who shot you is named Isaac Dinklage. He's new in Gotham but has already earned a certain reputation and gotten himself into a few situations."

He paused for a moment while his boss flipped through the pages in the folder he had provided.

"Should we deal with him? Or do you want to take care of him personally for taking your eye?"

"Do not take any kind of action. Not yet. I need you to find me all of the information about him. Everything about this man from the moment his mother realized she was pregnant to today. I need everything! Even the number of times he wipes his ass every single day. Spend every penny."

"Why is it important for you to know so much about him?"

 The second man inquired.

"There's something strange about him, Jacob. My instincts tell me something is off. It's not just that he was able to hurt me. It's that... something isn't right with him."

The two men exchanged glances but said nothing.

"Alright. For now, you can go back to your business. I have a medical exam coming up and find out when I'll be getting my eye transplant. I really don't want to be walking around like a pirate in the future."

"Consider it done, boss. We'll find a suitable donor, and if we can't, there are artificial implants available."

The patient nodded, and the thugs left.

"I will find out who you are, Isaac Dinklage."

The patient smiled before drifting off under the influence of the drugs.

To be continued...
