Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Disbanded

Shin Hyeok's family is the family of Admiral Yi Sun-sin!

A family that has protected and defended the Republic of Korea for generations.

A group that can make and possess swords with the permission of the state.

However, at the moment, Lee Kang-seok, the head of the Admiral Seoul Branch, dies, and his son, Lee Shin-hyeok, takes the position of head. But Shin Hyeok immediately declares the dissolution of the Seoul Branch. The head's word is law! At Shin Hyeok's command, the Lee family members move down into the city of Seoul and make a living by crafting and selling swords.

As they come down from the mountains and begin to live, they grow close to people in the city and, unknowingly, protect them while leading a quiet life.

Shin Hyeok no longer trains in swordsmanship, but he knows how to use a sword to some extent. He sweeps away everything from neighborhood thugs to gangsters, and people begin to think of him as a new gangster.

As time passes, Shin Hyeok goes through middle school and high school, turns 20 years old, and becomes the boss of an organization—not the head of a clan. Although he never specifically says he's a gangster, the black uniforms they often wear make them look like one. Although it's a group approved by the state, the general public doesn't know about it because it operates secretly. So now...

"Wow! It's a gangster, a gangster! Mom! There's a gangster guy walking over there!!"

"He's like a tiger, mommy, hehe," the child says, seeing him as a tiger due to his looks.

"Hurry up and come here. You shouldn't say things like that," the mother scolds her daughter as they continue on their way.

That's right, that "gangster" is Lee Shin Hyeok, who is now entering a convenience store. Shin Hyeok doesn't seem to care anymore and goes into the convenience store to buy something to eat, then leaves.

Shin Hyeok is currently 20 years old and unemployed. It's already been five years since he came down from the mountain, and he seems to be doing well.

Ring ring!

The phone suddenly rings, and Shin Hyeok answers, "Who is it?"

The person on the phone is Lee Do-jae, "Boss, today is the day to look around the shopping district in Gangnam, right?" Do-jae asks and continues, "The police contacted me because there have been a lot of incidents recently. I know you don't like swords, but, Boss, I'll take the sword with me!"

"Oh, okay!" Shin Hyeok replies, ending the call with an annoyed tone at the mention of swords.

"Swords... how annoying... Anyway, what time do I have to be there by?"

"The Seoul Branch has been disbanded, but I don't hate protecting people," Shin Hyeok says inwardly.

The department store located in Gangnam, where big and small incidents have been happening recently, already has police officers deployed everywhere. Recently, there have been many absurd incidents like random assaults and knife attacks, and the country has contacted the Seoul Branch of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and asked for support. Although the Seoul Branch has been officially disbanded, Lee Do-jae has been unofficially in charge of operations. Since they're an unofficial group to civilians, the sight of them with swords on their backs is intimidating, but since the police haven't stopped them, people just keep muttering. They look like cosplayers or modern warriors, walking around with swords on their backs. Some people laugh in surprise.

At 2 p.m. on a chilly afternoon, after lunch, many people are shopping in the department store, and several members from the Seoul Branch, including Lee Do-jae, are keeping an eye out for anyone suspicious.

"Hmm... The boss is really late," Lee Hyuk-pil, with his large body and fierce eyes, mutters to himself.

"First, act inconspicuously, blend in with the crowd, and watch the surroundings!" Do-jae calms Lee Hyuk-pil down and gives him instructions.

"WAAAA!" A scream is heard from the busiest area, and a man in his twenties runs toward the crowd with a weapon in hand, shouting, "Die! Let's all die!"

The members of the Seoul Branch, including Do-jae, quickly run toward the man, but they're too far away. The crazed man charges forward, swinging a kitchen knife, and a small child is standing in front of him, sobbing.

The man yells, "Get in my way, and I'll let you all die!"

In this life-or-death moment, the man threatens them with his knife.

Shooung! Thud!

Suddenly, the criminal is rolling on the ground, and then Shin Hyeok appears. "A crazy guy in broad daylight, huh?"

The criminal, knocked out by Shin Hyeok's flying kick, squirms on the ground.

At that moment, Lee Do-jae appears from the crowd!

"Boss! When did you get here?! Huh?! Did that guy knock you down, Boss?!"

Before Do-jae can finish speaking, the fallen man suddenly gets up and swings his knife at Shin Hyeok.

"What the hell are you?! Who are you?! You're getting in my way!" the man shouts, thrusting the kitchen knife toward Shin Hyeok.

But Shin Hyeok sees the knife and mutters, "I hate knives the most..."

As the man swings his knife, Shin Hyeok dodges, waiting for an opening, but the problem is that there are too many people around, especially children.

He grips his fist and thinks, "Do-jae, Ajusshi! Throw it! Let's finish this quickly!"

"Ah, yes, Boss!" Do-jae and the members respond.

What Shin Hyeok holds in his hand is the family sword, the Blue Dragon Sword. Shin Hyeok takes out the sword and closes in on the man, striking his shoulder with the back of the blade and knocking him down. With that, everything is over.

In the car on the way back, various social media and media outlets are buzzing, continuously showing videos of the incident and questioning why he had a sword. The police cover it up by saying he's a special police officer, ending the situation. Shin Hyeok, who has become an SNS star, is annoyed by the entire situation. "Ah... This is so annoying... This is all because of Ajusshi Do-jae! If you'd gone first, you could have handled it sooner..."

"Boss! When we tried to take care of him, you'd already handled it!"

"Heh heh... Boss, be honest. You used 'Swiftness,' right?!" [Swiftness is a technique of running at high speed in Admiral Yi Sun-sin's swordsmanship.]

"What Swiftness! I don't use that kind of thing! I just run fast!"

"Here you go again," Do-jae smirks, watching Shin Hyeok stubbornly insist he doesn't use the Admiral Yi Sun-sin technique.

"Boss, remember there's a deal at Incheon Port this week!"

"Incheon Port?" Shin Hyeok looks at him blankly.

"Yes! Incheon Port. The members of the Chungmugong Seoul Branch make and sell swords, as well as buy and resell rare items."

Remembering, Shin Hyeok replies, "Okay."

Knowing Do-jae would handle it, Shin Hyeok plays on his phone as their car heads toward Gwanghwamun, the unofficial temporary Seoul Branch.

A while later, the black sedan arrives at Shin Hyeok's house, and Shin Hyeok gets out without looking back. Do-jae follows and calls out, "Boss! Don't forget about the deal at Incheon Port!"

"Ah, got it, Do-jae. Hurry up and go! I'll go around the house and come back," Shin Hyeok replies leisurely.

"Then take this, Boss," Do-jae says, tossing him the sword.

However, Shin Hyeok dodges to the side with his hands in his pockets, letting the sword fall to the ground.

"No, this is ridiculous. You didn't want to use it earlier! Take it, I don't want it!" Shin Hyeok kicks the famous sword that Do-jae made.

Do-jae, with a fierce expression, rushes to block the sword, glaring at Shin Hyeok.

Feeling the intensity, Shin Hyeok carefully removes his hands from his pockets and steps back. "The famous sword I made! Growl! This is the Boss's sword, so take it!"

"But even so..."

"What do you mean 'even so'?! The reason you told me to throw the Blue Dragon Sword at the department store earlier was because that guy was threatening kids!"

Shin Hyeok hates everything in the world, but when he sees kids in danger, he reacts instinctively, remembering his deceased younger sibling, Shin-ju.

Seeing Shin Hyeok hesitate, Do-jae speaks again, placing the sword in his arms. "You saw it before! There are so many crazy people out there! That's why you carry it around—not just for yourself, but for others!"

"I understand, so stop nagging, old man. I'll take good care of it!"

With the Blue Dragon Sword slung over his back, Shin Hyeok turns away from Do-jae, preparing for the upcoming deal at Incheon Port. The two walk silently around the neighborhood for a while.
