Eva was astonished by the diversity of Alex's abilities. She could already imagine the vast potential and different ways to use this power.
Alex's focus, was on the platform flying and moving at high speed required intense concentration. He instructed Vlad, the vampire who was now within him, to emerge for protection should any attack occur.
Seeing Alex's focus, Eva activated her power as a safeguard against any sudden threats.
The two remained silent throughout the journey. Alex concentrated on guiding and controlling the platform while staying alert to potential attacks that could come at any moment.
Eva kept a keen eye on their surroundings, observing battles unfolding everywhere across the city. She had a feeling that this trip would not be a quiet one.
After passing several large buildings, they heard a tearing sound in the sky. Both Alex and Eva immediately looked up to see two towering pillars descending from above, as if they had emerged from an interdimensional rift. That was the first thought that crossed both their minds.
The pillars were enormous—so large that they could be seen clearly even from dozens of kilometers away.
"This day keeps getting crazier," Eva muttered as she stared at the pillars. At this point, it seemed nothing would shock her, no matter how insane it appeared.
Alex felt a strange sensation the pillars emanated a deep sense of danger.
Suddenly, a portal began forming between the pillars, with hundreds of engravings on the pillars themselves beginning to glow. It appeared to be absorbing some kind of energy from its surroundings. Gradually, a gateway formed between the pillars, still hovering hundreds of meters above the ground.
"This…," Eva began, but before she could finish, a ship appeared—a massive vessel seemingly made of wood, about two hundred meters long. It had huge sails and oars on either side, but what stood out most was that it was floating in the air.
"What in the world is going on?" Eva couldn't believe her eyes. She was certain these ships weren't of human origin.
After the first ship emerged, it positioned itself calmly near the portal, as if guarding it. Then, a second ship appeared, followed by a third, until a fleet began to assemble. After ten ships had gathered, Alex could barely contain his shock.
"They seem like invaders of another kind. But how could they arrive so quickly?"
Alex felt an intense threat coming from the fleet. As he pondered his next move, he looked to the sky and noticed something approaching the fleet.
Within moments, a missile struck the heart of the fleet. It moved so fast that they hadn't even had time to react. A colossal explosion erupted on impact, like a miniature sun descending upon the Earth. Shockwaves spread in all directions, and the high heat distorted the air.
The scene resembled an apocalypse.
"A nuclear missile… Has the government taken action?" Alex wondered aloud.
Even from dozens of kilometers away, they still felt the shockwaves. Eva used her power to prevent any debris from hitting them.
After a few minutes, the explosion subsided, revealing the portal and the pillars. Both were unharmed, but the fleet had been obliterated, leaving not even dust behind.
"The power of nuclear weapons is terrifying. But so are the limitations on their use."
The portal, which had formed outside the city, had caused significant damage to its surroundings and to parts of the city itself. If the portal had appeared in the middle of the city, the explosion would have killed millions and rendered the area uninhabitable.
"Let's go. Things are escalating fast," Alex said as he propelled the blood-made platform forward, increasing their speed. The platform soared tens of meters above the ground.
