Bang!
Lisa dashed back to her room, slamming the bedroom door with force.
Meanwhile, Miles sat awkwardly in the living room, torn between frustration and anger.
It seemed that no matter how well-behaved a woman was, she could still explode. It's clear I've been too lenient in my "training."
But at this moment, Miles had no time to dwell on that. He turned to the intercom and barked, "You're telling me Nicole is my girlfriend? Who told you that?"
"Of course, it was Miss Nicole herself. She said..."
Nathan began, but suddenly noticed Ryan's sympathetic expression directed at him.
"Ryan, what's wrong with you?" Nathan asked, confused.
"Nothing, go ahead, keep talking…" Ryan waved him off, and Nathan continued, "Miss Nicole said you went to the vixen's house today and gave me your address so I could find you here."
"Vixen…"
Miles instinctively glanced toward the bedroom, then hurriedly lowered the volume of the intercom.
Unfortunately, he was too late.
The sound of things being thrown across the room came from the bedroom — Lisa had clearly overheard.
What the hell!
Miles was genuinely furious now. He shouted at Nathan over the intercom, "What kind of idiot did you meet? She claims to be my girlfriend, and you believed her?!"
"Huh?"
Nathan was stunned by the insult, but Ryan couldn't hold back his laughter.
"But…" Nathan started to explain, but Miles cut him off, "But nothing! Hurry up and tell me why you're here, and then get the hell out!"
Originally, Miles had planned to show some kindness and let Nathan stay for the night, seeing as he was a new recruit. He thought combining kindness and power would be the best way to manage him.
But now, he was wishing Nathan would just drop dead on his way out.
"Okay, okay!" Nathan quickly responded, not daring to say more. "Mr. Miles, we discovered a large group of super zombies near the electronics factory yesterday…"
"Over thirty of them?"
Ryan was taken aback.
Back then, when they were hunting Andrew, they had to kill so many people just to capture him.
Now, more than thirty zombies appeared out of nowhere? Was there some kind of zombie rally going on?
"Are you sure?" Miles's tone grew serious.
If his guess was correct, super zombies were supposed to be incredibly rare. The idea that more than thirty had suddenly appeared was shocking — even three would be enough to make anyone jump.
Could it be that all the super zombies in the entire city had gathered in one place?
"I'm sure!" Nathan said solemnly. "I lost six brothers to those bastards! I'll make them pay!"
"So, you want me to help you take revenge?" Miles asked, his voice suddenly sharp.
Nathan was caught off guard and instinctively replied, "Aren't you the one who needs these super zombies?"
"That was in the past. I don't need them anymore…" Miles replied coolly. "But if you want revenge, I'll help you out once."
"I…"
Nathan was momentarily moved, but then froze.
Why am I feeling moved?
I came here to deliver a message, not to ask for help.
The zombies should have been Miles's problem in the first place. Why does it seem like he's helping me now?
"Alright, you can stay here tonight. Tomorrow, we'll go hunt zombies together."
Without waiting for Nathan's reply, Miles abruptly ended the conversation.
He walked to the bedroom door, turned the handle a few times, and found that it had been locked from the inside.
Miles shook his head in exasperation, laughing softly. "Aren't I your master? Since when do servants lock their master out of the room?"
"You are the master, but you're a terrible one — a big pervert!"
From inside the room, Lisa's sobs could be heard.
Click.
The door finally creaked open. Miles entered, his face breaking into a grin, only to see Lisa kneeling on the bed, her eyes swollen like a rabbit's.
"Okay, it's just a misunderstanding."
Miles sat down gently, pulling Lisa into his embrace.
Somewhere along the way, the relationship between this master and servant had shifted. It was no longer just that of a servant and her superior; it had become more like lovers, or even a married couple of many years.
Living together in the same room for over forty days, waking up to see nothing but each other every day…
In such an environment, feelings had inevitably deepened.
"Ugh~~~"
Lisa finally couldn't hold back any longer and burst into tears.
She clung desperately to Miles's arm, choking on her sobs. "From the first day, I knew I wouldn't be your last woman, but… but now that it's come to this, it hurts. It's like a knife cutting through me."
Although she had entered as a servant, she had given him all her most precious things. Taking reality aside, she had already fallen deeply in love with Miles.
"I know, I know."
Miles, equally moved, embraced her tenderly, his hand gently stroking her back as he whispered, "Perhaps I will have other women in the future, but you will always be my greatest love, my most trusted Lisa."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he froze, a sudden realization dawning on him. Is this what a scoundrel's lines sound like?
When did I become a scoundrel?
But — damn, it feels good to be a scoundrel!
Lisa buried her face in his broad chest and murmured, "Then promise me, no matter how many women you have in the future, you will never divide your love with them."
"I promise you."
Lisa finally lifted her head to look at Miles, but as she did, her tears started again, her body trembling.
Miles knew those tears were of helplessness.
No woman in the world would want to share her man with another. But now, she had no control over the situation. She didn't even have the right to call herself his legitimate partner.
On one side, there was the man she loved; on the other, the cold, cruel reality.
After all, would a man ever turn away a beautiful and popular woman?
With nothing left to do but cry and release the helplessness inside, she didn't know what else she could do.
"Let's talk about the future later. For now, I need to tell you something serious."
Miles cupped her tear-streaked face in his hands, his expression serious and stern.
"Are you planning to bring her here?"
For a brief moment, panic flickered in Lisa's eyes, but it was quickly suppressed.
She forced a smile and nodded, "I don't mind, let her come. I'll go back to the basement. If… if you no longer want me, can you please tell me in advance?"
In that instant, Miles caught a glimpse of despair in Lisa's eyes.
He understood her now.
This seemingly bright and clever woman was, in fact, one of the most stubborn people he knew.
If she had only come to him for survival, she probably wouldn't have willingly become his servant. She might have gone to the extreme and left long ago.
Miles sighed and quickly said, "Listen to me… I really don't know Nicole, and I have nothing to do with her!"
"You…"
Lisa's face showed a hint of disappointment.
She thought that at this moment, Miles could be cold, ruthless even, but he should never lie to her.
Miles raised his hand in frustration, his face a picture of helplessness. "I swear! If I'm lying and have anything to do with her, let the zombies tear me apart!"
Lisa looked down sadly. "But I heard everything she said, and she called me a vixen."
"Nathan's an idiot!"
Miles gritted his teeth. "I don't know which other idiot he ran into, but two idiots collided, and it triggered a dumb reaction…"
