Chapter 80 - They Really Have a Thing!

A barrage of analysis came fast and furious.

At that moment, the young subordinate's intelligence surged to its peak. He suddenly shuddered, then exclaimed loudly, "I know! It's Miles! He's the one behind this!"

"What did you say?"

Anthony was equally shocked.

The young man trembled as he spoke, "Boss, who else in the Cloud City has the power to do this besides Miles? If anyone else had such abilities, he would've already dealt with them!"

If you asked him who he feared the most right now, Miles would unquestionably top the list.

In this apocalyptic world, power spoke louder than any title or status.

In the hearts of the people in Cloud City, Miles had become something of a god.

He controlled everyone's fate—no exaggeration: if Miles ever decided he no longer needed the zombies, none of them would survive.

Moreover, this man was no mere weakling!

Though he rarely initiated attacks, many had perished because of him.

First, there was Andrew, who had been tricked twice by him, then Tyler, followed by Sini, and later Sarah—all victims of his indirect actions.

Only now did Anthony piece everything together, and it left him shaken to the core.

The great figures of Cloud City were all eliminated by Miles!

When the truth hit, there was no anger left in Anthony—just a deep sense of regret.

Had he known earlier that Miles had an interest in Nicole, he wouldn't have dared to cause trouble, even if he had a hundred lifetimes.

But the problem was, Miles had never said anything about it!

It was all an entrapment, a classic case of baiting the hook!

Now, Anthony felt wronged. He felt like Miles was toying with him, like a cat playing with a mouse.

After pacing for a few moments, he gritted his teeth and walked over to the bed.

"Don't come any closer!"

Nicole, frightened, clutched the blanket tightly.

"I'm sorry, Miss Nicole…"

Anthony bowed deeply, speaking with utmost respect, "What happened today was my fault. If you wish to punish me, I'll accept it without protest!"

Nicole stared at him, her delicate, beautiful face filled with confusion.

Anthony continued, "Please, when you speak with Boss Miles, explain to him that I truly had no idea you were his person. This was all a misunderstanding."

His person?

Nicole finally started to grasp the situation.

She had heard of Miles—after all, who in Cloud City hadn't? Those who didn't were likely dead by now.

He had been surrounded by thousands of owners at first, then controlled the surviving ones, becoming the undisputed ruler of Cloud City.

He was the one who saved me?

Miles… Nicole repeated the name silently in her mind.

Every woman dreams of marrying a hero, and stars are no different.

But heroes usually exist only in stories or lie buried in graves.

In the real world, where profit reigns supreme, even heroes have long since lost their sharp edges.

But now!

The sniper who appeared just in time, without a doubt, was the greatest hero in Nicole's heart.

And his name was Miles!

Until now, Nicole had only seen Miles as a scheming manipulator—controlling the owners to be his pawns while hoarding supplies for himself, living freely.

But now, all her prejudices had been shattered, swept away by the very bullet that had saved her.

"Miss Nicole?"

She was lost in thought until Anthony's voice broke through.

Still bowing deeply, he said with utmost respect, "Miss Nicole, please, punish me however you see fit. I'll accept any consequence!"

To err was human; to face punishment was inevitable.

If a man couldn't even accept his wrongs, then Anthony likely wouldn't have made it this far in the world.

Thus, he knew that if he wanted to escape Miles' wrath, he had to admit his mistakes promptly. If he delayed, the next bullet might be headed straight for his head.

"You…"

Nicole initially intended to tell him to leave, as she just wanted to escape these devils as quickly as possible.

But as the words almost left her lips, she changed her tone, coldly saying, "I suspect you're not afraid of me, but rather my boyfriend?"

Boyfriend?

So they really have a thing!

At that moment, Anthony nearly burst into tears. He bent even lower, helplessly replying, "I truly didn't know you were Boss Miles' girlfriend. If I had, I wouldn't have dared to offend you, even if you gave me a hundred lives!"

Nicole snorted coldly, her face filled with icy disdain. "Do you think we need to report our relationship to you?"

"N-no!"

Anthony quickly shook his head, a pitiful expression on his face. "But you never said…"

Before he could finish, Nicole cut him off sharply. "I'm worried you might use me to threaten Miles!"

What?

Anthony suddenly raised his head and stared at Nicole in disbelief.

How did I not think of that?

Nicole herself flinched as she realized what she had just said. Anxiety stirred in her heart.

If Anthony really tried to use her to blackmail Miles, would Miles come to her rescue?

She imagined countless scenarios of the hero saving the damsel in distress, but she also knew that while those fantasies were beautiful, they were fraught with peril.

"What's wrong?"

Nicole sneered at Anthony, her eyes full of contempt. "You want to try it?"

That look made Anthony retract his earlier thoughts immediately.

"I-I wouldn't dare! I wouldn't dare!"

He genuinely feared it.

Not only was it uncertain whether using a woman to threaten Miles would even work, but he was also well aware that the sniper rifle was still pointed at his face.

Unless Miles intended to eliminate him completely, no one would willingly seek death.

However, little did Anthony know, he was overthinking it…

At that very moment, Miles was lounging on the sofa in his boxers, with Lisa, clad in a red lace lingerie set, massaging his shoulders.

It was an electric, sizzling scene, a battle seemingly on the verge of breaking out.

Miles had no interest in anything else.

Nicole's cold voice broke the tension. "We'll let this go for today. Once you leave here, you're not to speak of or reveal my relationship with Miles, understand? As for you…"

She glanced at him coldly. "I'll speak to Miles. If there's a next time…"

She was a star, and in order to avoid trouble with the soulless owners, her actions were not without merit.

Besides, Miles currently had a beautiful doctor living under his roof.

Not allowing Nicole to appear was likely also to prevent any conflict between the two women.

Anthony, not questioning her reasoning, even went so far as to embellish the lie in his own mind.

He quickly plastered a smile on his face. "Rest assured, from today on, you're like my own mother. If I show you any disrespect again, I'll slap myself to death before Miles even has to lift a finger!"

"That's more like it…"

Nicole nodded indifferently, then pointed to the door. "Close the windows and doors for me. If this happens again, you won't have the chance to live."

With a sniper rifle at Miles' disposal, killing someone was nothing more than child's play.

Anthony and the others no longer dared to linger. They hurriedly cleaned up the mess in the room, then respectfully withdrew.

Once the front door was locked, Nicole let out a long sigh of relief.

That was too close!

Had Miles not intervened, she would have been defiled by those men.

But why did he save me?

Nicole instinctively touched her fair, beautiful face, and a sweet smile bloomed on her lips.
