Chereads / THE SECRET PACT / Chapter 41 - CHAPTER 40

Chapter 41 - CHAPTER 40

— SO LET'S WATCH THE NEWS...

It was already night and Gregory, like most of the agents, was still working hard on the investigation over the last few days. He couldn't get the questions about Fadiq's notebook out of his head. He visited the websites of the country's main newspapers, he wanted to analyze what the media was reporting on the computer.

Here was the solution to the strange puzzle that the video presented. The front-page stories in the newspapers were almost the same, all dealing with the Fadiq Al Faruj case and his heinous plan. The headlines had titles like: "Notebook found with information about the attack!" or "Personal computer may reveal facts about terrorist operations in the country".

The headlines said that the agents responsible for the case had located the homes of the two young men and carried out an operation to search for evidence and clues, as well as investigate their families. According to the news, it was only at that moment that Fadiq's notebook was found, where they discovered information about how he planned everything, the material he used and possibly clues about who had recruited him to commit the crime. They were still speculating that it was possible to dismantle an entire terrorist network that was being set up in the United States. Now everything fell into place for Gregory:

This was the notebook from the news!

The young man would not have given anyone a computer where he said he was going to commit a terrorist crime...

That was obvious...

As well as the false news that said the electronic device had been found in his house days later... — Gregory Evans thought.

The questions became very different from what he had imagined, from that moment on.

Who were these agents?

Did the young man really know what was going to happen?

Who was behind this false news?

As he thought about all these questions, another one came to mind:

Who was the one who had sent the video?

Using his methods, he saved the video in a hidden folder and quickly closed the notebook, putting it in his backpack and saying goodbye to everyone in a hurry.

I can't let Martin see this...

Not because he harbored any suspicions about him, but because he realized that the information he had in his hands was too dangerous.

A circle of trickery had formed and he needed to know who was involved before he ended up leaking information to the wrong people. Faced with such a revelation, everyone around him became doubtful, everything he was investigating was uncertain, and if he had one certainty, it was this: he was on the verge of a great conspiracy.
