Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

CLYDE SERFMORE

....

"It is a well know fact that to everyone in the Zade kingdom that before one's body can handle the power of a beast he or she has tamed there must be an integration between the beast tamer and the beast in question. However before one can grasp such a realm as the beast tamer, the tamer must be proficient in the control mana. Mana is a form of energy that grants power to animate and inanimate things it is with mana that one that can awaken such realm",

Mr. Burg goes through the usual basic knowledge that is embedded into the hearts of every tamer. After all in this world there exist only two things that one must strive to gain.

It is either you fall or you rise.

You live or you choose to die.

Either you choose to survive or you fall not just at the hands of magical beast, no, even humans of the same kind would not hesitate to sacrifice each other at the same of earning more power for themself.

"Mr. Clyde can I bored your still active train of thought for a moment",

The teacher calls out to me driving my attention back to the subject at hand. As much as I know his full name is Van de Burg a man not known for only his power but his knowledge. He he is a middle-aged man well grommed in every way his total appealing look sets him apart from most of as since he is of noble blood. He points his stretched hand in my direction as an order to stand, humbly and nervous as I am I oblige.

"Were you sleeping in MY class young man?",

He heavily ephazise on the "MY" word even though I sense no air of anger or disdain from him. His entire self seem like nothing as if he is there yet he is not.

"No Sir Burg, I was wrapping my head around some theoretical things so hard that I lost focus",

I answered even though the thing I told him in a way is true while in another direction too is a lie. There is a slight smirk on his face, one that makes me feel uneasy. His eyes try to pierce through me but I evade his gaze, his smirk fades away.

"Liar"

One of the students say amidst the silent tension soon some follow up with a snide remarks.

"Level 1 loser",

I hear one say which doesn't bother me at all.

"Lowly orphan",

Someone says and I steer my head at the direction of the voice, it is a female not an ordinary one at that she is also a noble one I can't offend because I am a commoner with no background or even the backing of a powerhouse. I clench my fist at this the feeling of being powerless is one that I hate but can't do anything about.

"Control your anger",

Mr. Burg's said. Strangely enough my emotions settled I felt no reason to be mad at the words of these people who know nothing of me yet belittle everything I do. I bow lightly and apologize to Mr. Burg who still looks nonchalant as ever.

"Even if you are a commoner with a pitiful level of mana control remember to never lose yourself to anger or even fear",

"Geez, thanks",

His manner of speaking flatly about facts is one that tells everyone that he is a bad pep talk giver. He gestured me to take my seat. Within the next few moments class ended everyone left with me as an exception because Mr. Burg told me to wait behind. He stood in front of the class door with his hands folded and a serious expression on his face, the first time he had shown any emotion since I have known him.

"You must control yourself young man or else one day you might live to regret it",

He said bringing his emotions back to normal he produces a blue vial that one can sense the pure mana from it. The thing within his grasp is a mana essence a rare item that can be made from the life force of beasts with an incredible amount of mana, something like this is the only reason why very few commoners can exceed the expectations and rival those with royal blood.

"You are at the first level of level of mana control but with this your control should reach their level",

He stretches his hand forward in an attempt to hand over the vial to me, I stand still unmoved by the temptation to grow stronger with the help of a noble no less. I don't want to be anyone's pet and do dirty works for the Vans( the family of Professor Burg).

"Why would someone of noble blood help a commoner like me. Even if it helps and I grow stronger what benefit would you gain?",

I expected him to get angry and perhaps attack me out from his anguish, instead he forces the vial into my pocket. Taking a keen observation from his face there is a smile.

"I want you to survive"

He says.
