Chapter 117 - Chapter 117: Human-faced Eel

  "What sound is that?"

Lu Fei and Hu Zi exchanged a glance, immediately turning off the flashlight and standing guard at the door.

  In the darkness.

The sound of something crawling out of the water was abnormally clear.

A wet body slowly slithered across the floor, making a sticky, muffled sound as it gradually approached the storeroom.

Lu Fei and Hu Zi, without prior discussion, tightened their grip on their weapons.

As the creature drew closer, a damp, fishy aroma wafted through the crack in the door.

This smell was exactly the same as the steamed Wangyue eel!

Could it be that the Wangyue eel has crawled out of the pond?

  Lu Fei's brow furrowed.

Can an eel still move after it's out of water?

That wet thing paused for a moment at the door, then suddenly pushed it open and slowly crawled into the storeroom.

Something cold and slick slithered past his feet.

  Moist and slippery.

Lu Fei's whole body broke out in goosebumps. As soon as that thing crawled in, he immediately shut the door and turned on the flashlight.

  "Huzi!"

The moment the flashlight lit up.

Huzi raised his heavy ghost-head saber, not caring what the long shadow wriggling on the ground was, and struck down on it with full force.

  "Ssss—"

The long shadow opened its mouth to let out a hoarse and grating cry, its snake-like body struggling and twisting. It slid away from the blade and turned its head to bite Huzi.

  Hu Zi quickly jumped back.

The thing whooshed under the cage, leaving a trail of sticky, moist marks behind.

"Damn, what the hell is that? A python? Its skin is really thick; not even a mark from a knife slash!"

Hu Zi held the knife, his shock and suspicion palpable.

  ""

Lu Fei bent down and shone the flashlight at the dark mass under the cage.

The creature was coiled up, with dark black skin covered in slippery mucus, as thick as an adult's thigh, resembling a python.

  "Hiss——"

Feeling the light, the creature turned its head and let out a hoarse roar.

  "Shit!"

Seeing the creature clearly, Lu Fei and Hu Zi both felt their hair stand on end.

It turned out to be a face that strikingly resembled a human's!

"Holy crap! What, what kind of monster is this!" Hu Zi exclaimed in horror.

"Could it be an eel that has become a spirit?"

Lu Fei, suppressing the tingling in his scalp, took a few glances at the creature. He found that although its body was very similar to a python, it had no scales and wasn't as long as a snake.

Instead, it looked like an eel magnified many times over.

The humanoid face, with clear yet twisted features, had a flat nose and a wide, large mouth, revealing sharp teeth inside.

It was like an unbelievably large eel with a human face. Though it resembled a human, its pitch-black fish eyes did not show any human expression, only the ferocity of an animal.

The lambs in the cage, when this monster appeared, all huddled to the other side, trembling even more, their eyes filled with indescribable fear.

"Don't tell me the lambs are meant to feed this monster..." Hu Zi paused, a wave of dread washing over him, "No, it's the children..."

The bald man was using live children to feed the monster!

  "Kill it!"

A chill burst forth from Lu Fei's eyes as he approached the bizarre human-faced eel with his lightning-struck jujube wood stick.

Who knows how many innocent children have already perished in the jaws of this monstrous creature.

Not killing it would be an affront to heaven!

The iron cage that confined the lamb was not large; as long as Lu Fei stretched out his arm, he could reach the human-faced eel with his lightning-struck jujube wood stick.

Lu Fei bent down and got close to the hiding spot of the human-faced eel.

Tiger used debris to block the warehouse door, ensuring the monster had no chance to escape.

  "Hiss——"

The human-faced eel continuously opened its mouth, emitting a threatening, hoarse cry.

Its two pitch-black fish eyes stared straight at Lu Fei, the gaze extremely eerie, as if two black holes that could swallow Lu Fei whole.

Ordinary people simply cannot meet the gaze of a monster; just one look would terrify them to the point of losing their wits.

But Lu Fei, having dealt with evil creatures and witnessed numerous harrowing scenes, could still steady his mind despite his racing heart.

He channeled his magical power into the thunderbolt jujube wood staff and struck at the human-faced eel.

Seemingly sensing the threat, the human-faced eel wriggled its slick, thick body to dodge nimbly, its dark skin secreting a layer of mucus like clear snot.

A strong, exotic fragrance then spread out.

Just a whiff made Lu Fei feel dizzy and weak all over.

  "Corpse incense!"

Lu Fei immediately channeled his magical power to his Baihui point, quickly clearing his mind.

"Huzi, bite your tongue, don't be entranced by the smell!"

Huzi was already swaying, his eyes becoming dazed. At Lu Fei's shout, he opened his eyes again and hurriedly bit his tongue.

Under the刺激 of pain, Hu Zi suddenly shuddered and instantly snapped back to reality.

"This thing is really damn weird!"

The little lambs in the cage all went limp and collapsed directly.

"Oh no, what's wrong with them?" Hu Zi was shocked.

"They've been drugged!" Lu Fei said calmly, keeping his eyes fixed on the human-faced eel that was crouching in the corner, "We must kill this demon first, or we won't be able to save the children."

"Boss, tell me, how should I kill this thing?" Hu Zi gripped the large knife tightly, with anger overcoming his fear.

Lu Fei tried to get closer to the human-faced eel with the lightning-struck wood, but this creature was very cunning and agile. It could evade and even turn around to bite back.

As soon as Lu Fei dodged, it would seize the opportunity to bite the unconscious lambs in the cage.

Lu Fei had to guard it at all times.

This is not a viable solution to keep going like this!

Eels are slippery and the hardest to catch, especially this demon-faced eel that has become a monster.

"Its skin is thick and protected by mucus, making it impenetrable to knives and impossible to grab," Lu Fei narrowed his eyes. "Salt! This fish is most afraid of salt! As long as we use salt to dissolve the mucus on its body, it won't be able to move."

"But we didn't bring any," Tiger said, frustrated.

"Did you forget where we are? Would there be a shortage of salt here?"

"That's right! I'll go get it right away!"

Tiger slapped his forehead, moved aside some clutter, and opened the storeroom door.

"Tiger, be careful. Don't alert them before the children are rescued," Lu Fei said in a low voice. "Until we find a way to break the beast creation spell, they can kill the children at any time."

  "I understand!"

Tiger nodded, then carefully slipped out of the house with a knife in hand.

He first glanced at the small building where the bald man lived, and finding no movement, he ran towards the kitchen at the back of the manor.

Lu Fei was guarding the human-faced eel in the warehouse.

This evil creature, with a human face, cowered in the corner, still secreting a fragrant mucus as much as it could.

The strong fragrance filled the entire warehouse, even spreading to the pond.

The eels in the pond seemed to sense something, continuously making splashing sounds.

Lu Fei kept his mind clear with his spiritual power, not giving the creature any chance to bite the little lambs.

  Splash! Splash!

The sound of water in the pond grew louder, as if more eels were climbing out and heading towards the warehouse.

The rustling sounds of multiple crawling creatures made one's scalp tingle.

Lu Fei threw a ghost-repelling character at the human-faced eel, and while it dodged, he quickly grabbed some debris to block the gap in the door.
