Amira
'Argh!' I woke with a jolt and heaving as I glanced around trying so hard to see in the dark space where Annie and Liam will appear from.
It takes a moment before everything starts registering in my brain as I check my head where she had hit me with a stool for any sign of blood but nothing was there and my head was fuzzing.
My hand went over to my neck, feeling it for any abnormality or sting but I wasn't feeling any.
'What's going on? Where are they? And… wait… where is Stephen? How did he know what was happening and more especially, how did he know my house? What did he do to them and how did I survive? Did he take me to the hospital?' all these questions kept flooding my mind with no tangible answer.
This place is so dark but the soft sheet under feels like a mattress and the cool, inviting atmosphere and the masculine scent lingering in the air made me realize I am in a room.
But who's? And why am I not dead? No one survives a lethal injection.
My heart leaped in my throat at the thought of who, did they leave me here to come finish off later?
The pain all over my body was so intense that as I tried lifting up a finger, I couldn't. What the fuck? What's going on? Or is this some afterlife shit that dead people go through. I remember a pastor once said we will be healed in the afterlife.
I tried again but it's like all the organs in my body weren't working. I am really dead. Is this it? I will never get my revenge and no one will know what happened to me.
I was still in my agony trance that I didn't notice someone struggling with the door or a jiggling of keys until the door pushed open and a silhouette was tiptoeing to where I was.
Is this the angel of death? Do they walk? I thought they were supposed to be flying. My hand fisted on the bed sheet and I realized that I could move but the way my whole body is trembling right now, I don't think I can.
The person kept getting closer till they rounded the bed to the left before starting to make some noise as if fumbling with something.
Bright light illuminates the entire place and almost blinded me. I squinted till my eyes adjusted before I started taking in the scene in front of me.
I am in a big ass room, on top of the softest mattress I have ever laid on. The room is all blue interior; blue cotton, blue center table, blue bedside lamp, blue chandelier, you name it.
The room looks vaguely familiar.
I tried sitting up and this person rushed to help me, making me yelp and the person drawback, also yelping.
My eyes trailed up to see, it's a girl, probably in her twenties, in a uniform of some type with her hair tied in a ponytail. "Who are you?" my voice was croaked out and my throat hurt.
"I… I am Penny, the boss assigned me to take care of you." She explained, her voice barely above whisper but what she said confused me.
"The boss? Where am I? And who is the boss?" I fired at her, my gaze pleading when she looked at me like I had grown another head all of a sudden.
"uhhh, ma'am, you are at Serenity Estate and the boss is Sir Jason Johnson." She fidget.
Instead of her explanation making sense, it confuses me the most. Could it be that I am not dead? And she just said Serenity Estate and that could only mean one person. My Dad
I looked around the room, my brows furrowed in confusion because this looks like my room, before getting married. Did I travel back in time? The universe must be playing some tricks on me. "What day is it?" I asked her.
"Today is Wednesday. You have been unconscious for two days."
"Two days? What happened?"
"Uhm… well, you got drunk after your engagement with Sir Liam and you got in trouble with your dad. That's all I know as I am still new here." She explained and it finally clocks.
"Oh also the other workers said you don't do well with alcohol." She added, scratching her nape.
If what she's saying is true then I think I have been reborn, still finding it hard to believe, I asked again. "What date is today?"
She walked to a nightstand and stared at what seemed to be a standing clock. Before she came back. "Today is 13-06.2021, ma'am."
My eyes widened, "What? Are you sure? Did you check it well? I asked to be sure because it's exactly three days after Liam proposed and he dragged me and Annie to the club and I ended up getting drunk.
And it's also a week after I rejected my dad's proposal to marry Stephen King.
"I am sure ma'am."
"So you're telling me we are in the year 2021?"
"Absolutely ma'am. But are you alright? Should I call the doctor?"
I have truly gone back in time and now I can right my wrong. the universe want me to take revenge on those two cheap fuckers.
"What did you say your name is again?"
"Penny. Ma'am."
But I have never seen her before, 'yeah, that's because you don't care about the workers in your house enough to know them.' The voice in my head mocked.
"Penny, you said you are new?"
"Yes ma'am. I only started working here a week ago." She further explained.
13-06.2021 was supposed to be three years ago, when my dad had wanted me to marry Stephen, which I declined, making sure to taunt him that he was not my type and will never be. He only laughed then and left my house but I could feel the anger radiating off him.
Being reborn wasn't bad after all. I love it and would make sure to settle scores with them.
But how? Suddenly an idea struck. An even better one.
Stephen had come to save me in my past life. Does that mean he'll be my savior from this tragic fate again?
I will get married to Stephen but before then I would have to speak to mom about Annie's mother. I hope she tells me everything she knows.
It wasn't completely bad and I get to have my revenge in a better way since Liam is working for him. I would make sure to play them in their game. I would use Stephen's influence to crumple them.
Speaking of him, I turned to see Penny playing with her fingers as she shifted from one foot to the other. He never came back to my house since I humiliated him. "You started working here a week ago. Do you know Stephen King? And where is my mom?"
"I have heard of him ma'am but never seen him in person and your mom rushed out earlier, she is still not back."
"Alright then. You can go." She turns to leave when I remember something. "Oh and get me something to eat. I will be going out also. I will take a shower first."
"Alright ma'am. would you need help with showering?" she asked
"There won't be any need for that. I am perfectly fine doing it myself. Thank you though" I said, giving her a smile.
She smiled back before walking out of the room. The pain in my body had subsided and I could move. I swung my legs over the side of the bed, my feet making contact with a plush rug, so soft that my feet got lost inside. I stretched, arching my back and extending my arms above my head, feeling the subtle creaks in my joints.
I walked to the bathroom door and opened it to see it was one hell of a beautiful bathroom. Just how I remember it.
Undressing, I quickly took my bath and rushed to the attached closet I saw when coming in. There were so many new dresses. I had gone shopping with Annie a week before Liam proposed.
Just when did this happen? I am still in shock from how everything turned out. But I don't have time to dwell on it.
After settling on a short fiery red dress, feeling confident and beautiful. It hugs my body perfectly showing off my curves. After my marriage to that asshole, I wasn't allowed to dress the way I wanted because according to him. It doesn't speak well for him as my husband. So I always end up dressing as if I am a mother of seven.
I let my hair fall on my back, carefully accentuating my figure. Before stepping out of the room.
I was so lost ogling at the hallway and reminiscing about old moments while humming a lullaby till I reached downstairs and made my way to the dining hall to see Penny arranging plates full of food on the dining table.
She noticed me just in time. "ma'am I was about coming to inform you that food is ready."
I gave a smile. "no worries penny." I dug in the food as my stomach made a gurgling noise, making itself known.
I couldn't finish my food because of how eager I was to put my plan into action. "hey penny." I called.
She rushed into the dining room. "if my mom comes back. Tell her I am out and I won't be back early."
"ok ma'am" she nodded and went back in.
With a surge of determination, I walked to my black McLaren 720s. My destination was Paragon Corp & Co…
Upon arriving at the company. I walked into the lobby and the receptionist rose up immediately and she sighted me. I don't know if she remembers me since the last time I was here was with my dad for a business meeting.
"Welcome, Ms. Johnson. How may I assist you?" She greeted me with a warm smile.
I returned her smile briefly before glancing around the lobby. He is really good, I'll give him that. "I am here to see Stephen."
Her eyes widened slightly before she composed herself. "Do you have an appointment, Ms?"
"No, I don't. Just let him know it's me. Amira and I have something important to discuss with him."
"Alright Ms. Johnson. Please have a seat." she said and led me to a seat before she entered the elevator by my right.
I waited at the lobby, my foot tapping lightly on the floors as I watched people come and go. My mind flooded with everything I went through at the hands of my most trusted people. Anger flowing from the pit of my stomach as everything played like it's just happening.
The elevator dings open and the receptionist appears but she's not alone but with Stephen secretary. I can't remember his name.
His forehead marred with a frown as he stood in the elevator. Not coming out and not going back in until she touched him slightly. Before he walked up to me. "Good evening Ms. Johnson. Please follow me."
Which I did, the ride to the top floor was a short and quiet one. We reached his office in no time and the secretary looked at me one more time. "He is expecting you." And went back to his office.
I didn't bother knocking and just turned the handle, poking my head in and there he was in all his glory, working on his computer. Why didn't I notice how handsome he was before?
Probably because you were too blinded with Liam and Annie's lies
"Are you going to come in? Or you prefer to just stand there." his voice boomed through the office, deep and commanding, making my knee go weak.
Walking in, I made myself comfortable on one of the couches. "Hello Stephen. It seems you are busy. So I won't take much of your time." I made sure my voice was calm and collected.
He looked up from his desk. Surprise etched on his face. "What brings you here?" he asked, his voice laced with curiosity.
"marry me, Stephen." I said, my eyes locked in his.
"What?"
