The elevator was a few floors away from the ground floor when it stopped to pick up some other people and at that moment my heart began to beat faster than normal. I was scared that my cover would be blown and I might be caught by one of Sorin's guards since they always worked undercover and they were always anywhere he was. Since I had seen one of them upstairs, I knew that there would definitely be more of them around the hospital but I was hoping not to run into any one.
As the doors opened, I pulled my hood over my head once again, while using my hand to hold it over my face to prevent my face from being seen.
A few medical workers walked in and thankfully, they paid me no mind. They immediately continued gisting as soon as they got in and the doors closed. I guess they had been discussing right before they got in and so, decided to continue with their discussion like I was invisible.
"Jane, have you heard?" One of them, who I found out was Sarah, asked.
"Heard what?" Jane responded.
"The latest news, of course!" Sarah responded to her.
"What news could that be? You always have one or two to share." Jane replied and the third one, called Megan, cut in.
"You mean, she always has one or many to share." She said teasingly and they all laughed.
"Exactly! Once we want to hear the "latest news", we all know who to go to." Jane added and they laughed once again.
"Whatever guys." Sarah said with a cute gesture.
"Do you want to hear the latest news or not?" Sarah asked further.
"Do we have a choice?" Jane and Megan replied at the same time. Surprised, they both looked at each other and laughed.
"Thank God you know you don't have a choice." Sarah responded before she began her story while I stood there, in the corner with my head bowed and my hood still over my head.
"You know how I've been in the Accident and Emergency Department Building all week." She began, while her friends listened with rapt attention.
I also paid great attention because, I must say, she was indeed a good storyteller but they didn't know I was listening in on them.
"Just yesterday, there was an Emergency, I saw how all the doctors ran around the moment the ambulance got there, so I felt it had to be someone of great importance." She continued, while her friends were so engrossed in her story.
I also went out and that was where I saw the greatest shock of my life." She paused for a while, leaving her friends and of course, me, impatiently waiting for the concluding part of the story.
"Hmmmm… You won't believe who I saw." She finally continued, leaving us hanging once again.
"Can you speak already! What's all this suspense for?" Megan snapped while Jane just looked on.
Jane was more interested in the story and was willing to patiently listen till the end, no matter how long it took but Megan on the other hand, was too much in a hurry to know who Sarah was talking about and why she decided to add some suspense to the story.
"Calm down, will you?" Sarah snapped back at her.
"Just talk already. Ugh!" Megan exclaimed.
"You both have to calm down, no need working ourselves out over another person's story." Jane said, trying to calm both parties down.
"Sarah, please continue." Jane added.
"Fine, I'll continue." Sarah finally said and continued her story.
"So the victims we…." She continued but was cut off by Megan.
"Victims? They are two? Oh my goodness!" She exclaimed, while Jane and Sarah rolled their eyes at her.
"I'm sorry, you can continue. I won't cut you off anymore." She added and Sarah continued.
"When I got to the ambulance, there was blood everywhere, infact I almost couldn't recognize the victims. Their obviously expensive clothes were soaked in their own blood and there was shattered glass sticking around on their bodies. The couple were already unconscious when they got here."
"I moved closer to get a better look and I was utterly shocked. What I saw sent shivers down my spine. I kept wondering what could have caused such a serious accident." Sarah kept on narrating what had happened but still had no idea who she was talking about.
"Sarah? Who are the victims? Megan finally spoke up.
Sarah sighed before she spoke again.
"Mr and Mrs Zaveri!" She exclaimed.
"What!" Megan and Jane screamed at the mention of the names of the Zaveris.
"You mean, the Billionaires?" Jane asked
"Exactly! The owners of one of the best companies. One of the Elites!" Sarah responded.
"No way!" They both exclaimed!
They were in so much shock that they had to cover their mouths with their hands.
"How did that happen? How was it possible? Who was driving?" These were the questions both Jane and Megan kept asking.
"I have no idea. Infact, the last time I was there, I heard that they were in the Intensive Care In Unit(ICU), they're still in coma." Sarah explained.
"Although I felt bad about the situation, I got to see their son too, Sorin. Urgh! He really is so handsome and well-built like they said. I wish I could just pounce on him and eat him up like I would eat a bowl of my favourite ice-cream." She added.
"Oh my God! You got to see him? I wish I was there too. I have hopelessly had a crush on him, almost all my life. Phew! You need to see my room, I have pictures of him everywhere and on my phone too." Jane said to her.
"Me too, Gosh!" Sarah replied, while they both held hands and blushed at the thought of Sorin.
"Girls!!! Get a grip! We're talking about people fighting for their lives at the moment! Geez!" Megan snapped at them.
In the twinkle of an eye, memories of my first meeting with the Zaveris flooded in and at that moment, I remembered who they were. Immediately, I began to remember all I had forgotten and how I got to the hospital. I also remembered that I was referred to as "Mrs Zaveri" because I was a part of the family.
At that moment, it became crystal clear. I was extremely shocked, I didn't know when I roughly grabbed Sarah's arm, making her turn to me.
"What did you say? Who and who were involved in the accident? Where are they?" I began asking questions.
She angrily yanked her arm off me and looked at me with disgust.
"What the hell! Have you lost your mind? Do I know you?" She responded angrily.
At that moment, the elevator made a chiming sound and the doors opened. We had gotten to the ground floor.
I immediately ran out of the elevator and I could faintly hear the ladies talking to themselves about me.
"Do you know her?" Megan asked.
"Nope! I am not sure but I feel like I have seen her somewhere." Sarah responded
"What a weirdo!" Jane said.
I didn't care, I just kept running like a crazy human. I didn't know where I was supposed to go, I just kept running. I then suddenly remembered that the ladies were talking about the ICU and the Emergency Building, so I immediately raced off to the Building.
After asking a few people for directions, I finally got there.
Getting to the waiting area, I found Sorin sitting in one of the chairs, with his head buried in his hands and Kelvin was standing right beside him.
"Ma'am!" Kelvin suddenly said, making Sorin look up towards me. He immediately looked away too, like he saw nothing important.
Kelvin walked towards me and helped me to sit on a chair beside Sorin.
"Where have you been ma'am? We've been looking everywhere for you." Kelvin asked me as I sat down.
"Nowhere." I calmly responded while trying to look at Sorin who paid me no mind.
"How are they doing now?" I asked but Sorin didn't respond leaving Kelvin no choice but to respond.
"We can't say for sure yet, we are waiting for the doctors to come out and tell us something." Kelvin told me.
"Oh... Okay." I responded.
Hardly had I sat for a few minutes when our attention was called towards the clanking sound on a female's shoe heels approaching us. As the person got closer, the image got clearer. It was Daisy Cole!
