"Mom, can you drop me off at school?" Lena asked.
standing before her mother and her impeccably dressed sister.
In stark contrast, her own school uniform was a patchwork of wear and tear, frayed and marked in places where Elara had accidentally burnt it with her powers. Despite its condition, Lena had cleverly mended it as best as she could.
Brittney shot a disgusted glance at her daughter, her expression sharp as she delivered a stinging slap that sent Lena crashing against the wall.
Though she appeared unassuming, Brittney belonged to the Kraelion race, known for their inherent strength.
The force behind that slap was far more than Lena, already fragile, could handle. "Don't ever call me mother. I could never be the mother of such filthy trash like you."
Natalie, with a mocking laugh, chimed in, "Mom, I still don't understand why she hasn't been sent away. Can't we do something about that?"
Brittney turned to Natalie, a warm smile spreading across her face. "No, sweetheart. The world outside doesn't deserve to see such filth. She might end up in danger."
"That would actually be better, Mom. I can't believe she's my sister," Natalie said, turning away. "Come on, we don't want to be late. The KVA are coming to scout me today."
Brittney's expression brightened. "Yes, darling, we should leave early."
They walked out of the house, leaving Lena sprawled on the floor, with Brittney not forgetting to spit on her as they passed.
Lena sighed as they departed
This treatment was familiar to her by now, a routine she had come to accept. Slowly, she picked herself up and began her journey to school.
The distance was considerable, but technology had made traveling easier.
She hurried along, recalling that they had chemistry and other tests that day—her only strong suits, thanks to her kyrennei ability. As she ran, she bumped into several people before reaching the public teleporter, a large, round structure bustling with others eager to board.
After a moment's wait, she squeezed in and found herself transported to a different area.
Without hesitation, she dashed forward, weaving through the crowd, passing massive billboards that advertised the upcoming KVA examinations for young talents.
Lena let out a small sigh; she had always dreamed of joining the KVA, but her ability grade had dashed those hopes. Still, she would not abandon her kyrennei gift, which granted her sharp intuition in critical moments. Perhaps that was why she excelled in tackling challenging questions.
She got to school just as the bell for the first lesson rang.
she got into the huge class filled with students of different races and the whole class turned to look at her each casting a gaze of disgust towards her
"Look who it is " A dark haired boy said loudly "if it isn't the most useless kyrennei in the whole school"
And the whole class bursted into laughter each of them not forgetting to add their own sarcastic remarks and awful Snickers
"Just go to hell Lena"
"Why are you still breathing"
"You, useless peice of F-grade trash"
"That's okay" A voice boomed out from behind Lena and a huge male Kraelion with strict characteristics- their history teacher walked out from behind her"go have a seat Lena, and settle down everyone for your tests"
The whole place went silent and Lena walked to her seat, thankful that Mr Drevik had come to her rescue...
Not that she had been ashamed or anything after all you can't break an already broken person
The test started and Lena lay down to sleep with the other students casting her disgusted glances
"Yeah she might be empowered here but what about on the battlefield"One said his face dripping with annoyance and disgust
"She would be as good as dead" Another replied and they all laughed
"Usless F-grade trash"
Lena glared at them and one of them said
"you, you filth how dare you look at me like that"
"I'm sorry" Lena said and looked away obviously not angered by their demeaning words which she knew were true as she lay down on her desk and closed her eyes.
15 minutes to handover the test, Lena woke up her eyes scanning the struggling students, some where writing seriously, others were discussing seemingly less concerned about the test.
those were definitely people who had high hopes of entering into the KVA she started writing.
Lena's kyrennei ability "Mind spark" was a passive one and didn't need to be activated which was specifically while it was graded as an F grade ability.
it didn't have any offensive or defensive technique making it useless. As some people are naturally born to be smart and how could that even be an ability
After 5 minutes she was done, and went to handover her script, this was her fort and she couldn't lose to anyone
