Chapter 10 - Chronology: Fallen Angel

Valerie walked into the unusually quiet bar. She was filled with sorrow and anger, mostly anger She wore a black hoodie which covered her face already drenched in sweat.

She couldn't believe the man she had known for fifteen years would lie to her face. She was literally living in a lie. Her whole life was a lie.

But how could a lie be so damn good. A lie which never forgot her birthdays or missed any of her events or did anything to make her sad and at the same time supported her with every fibre of his being.

It felt cringe, but there was nothing she could do about it. He wasn't her dad and now she knew that. "Why is this happening..." she thought with pain.

As she sat down in one of the inconspicuous spots of the place she spotted an odd looking man staring at her from the counter.

Unlike the other men who wore sleeveless shirts or leather jackets, he was rather in a black suit, looking like he had just come from the matrix. His aura was quite intimidating and alluring.

Their eyes met but he quickly averted his. She rolled her eyes with annoyance. He noticed it. After few minutes of awkwardness he finally walked over and sat in front of her.

"Hey princess, mind if I join you?" he asked placing his drink down. "You already are, so..." she said shrugging whilst shifting her gaze to another contrivance.

"What is your name?" he asked with a smile.

She looked at him with suspicion and remained silent. "Look I get it, you don't trust me, but this is not a fun way of getting to know each other?" he commented, gulping down his drink, his eyes momentarily fixed on her.

"Its good you know that I don't. Now if you wont mind, I would like to be alone." she said pulling the hood over her head even more.

"For starters, my name is Liam Vandermolt. You are?" he asked extending his hand to shake her but she ignored his attempt. "Hmm" she scoffed. "Vandermolt? sounds made up. What is next, Madenbury?" she asked almost laughing, but she managed to control herself.

"Very smart for a girl your age. I must say, I am impressed, Valerie Hansley." he said with a devious grin. "How did you know my name? she asked with bewilderment.

"Its written on your bag tag." he said pointing at it. She quickly snatched it away from his observation. "Don't you have other things to do apart from stalk me" she asked with irritation.

"Yes, he will be here in a few minutes. Its just that you seem interesting and absorbing. I would like to no more."

"Leave me alone." she said with a gruffy voice. "Fine I will." he said rising to his feet. He took out a business card from his pocket and placed it on the table.

"Call me when if you need anything." he said with a funny gesture. He winked at her and walked off. She shook her head and stared at the card with uneasiness

Finally, she took the card and examined it. It had the initials LXW written boldly on it with the contact right under it. She wondered what the acronym mean't

The door opened and a charming young man walked in. He wore a dark turtle neck over a pair of dark grey trousers, topping it all of with a long black leather coat.

He had a buzz haircut which made him even more astonishing.

He looked young and robust and his stature clearly showed he was a friend of the gym.

He looked around the bar and spotted Liam in the extreme corner. A few tables away from Valerie.

Their eyes met but she quickly averted hers with shyness. He ignored it and walked over to Liam's table.

Their conversation from Valerie's point of view was secretive and tense. They both cast several odd glances at her and it made her uneasiness grow.

The handsome young man got up from his seat and walked over to her. He greeted her and he sat down without waiting for her affirmation.

"Hi, I am Francis. And you are? Let me guess, Valerie?" he stated with a smirk.

"Yes. What do you want?" she asked trying not to sound cold. "Your contact. If that will be possible." he said handing her his phone.

"Straight forward, wow.... I was expecting some drama you know. Its captivating but I'm sorry, I don't give my contact to strangers." she said with an insincere smile.

He sighed and withdrew his phone. "Fine. No rush. But I can promise you that at nine pm tomorrow, I will be waiting for you, right here" he said with a smile.

"So what are you expecting?"

"You, here with me. Please don't keep me waiting." he said rising to his feet. He extended his hand to shake her but she ignored it again.

"Very well, I will take my leave. Hope to see you next time, fallen angel." he said grabbing her hand. He kissed it softly and winked. His type was just amazing.

He walked off leaving the young girl astonished.
