The blood-red scythe materializes in the air. A strong sensation of endless bloodlust spread. There are traces of fiery red flames that surround the scythe, screeching of the air, and desperate screams, wailing shook the eardrums of everyone present.
"MERGHHHH!!!"
The eyeballs on the mess of a creature that is Eleven rotated crazily. The air seemed to ripple at the sheer malevolence displayed by the two beings.
"Make it fast. I don't want unnecessary casualties." With an aloof expression, the prince crossed his arms.
The lips of the priest of the Storm God were raised. "Too showy. You're moves look flashy as always but lack substance.
"Shut the fuck up you hypocrite righteous prick." A black line appeared on the general's knotted forehead.
The priest's expression turned blue from the insult but he chose not to continue the petty squabble.
Luke turned his eyes to the blood-red aura in the air and at the abomination. Then, he distanced himself from them. This battle is not something he could participate in as a normal person with broken ribs, right?
Klay and the other two followed Luke hastily, panting with labored breaths.
"You said something about Partially Formed Abomination? What are these damned things?" Luke turned to Klay which prompted Klay to open his mouth and answer: "Partially Formed. The host lacks the necessary conditions to be a complete one..."
"First of all time, an abomination needs a full three days to fully mature. Compared to partially formed, a true abomination or completely one can morph any part of their body while a partial one can only morph selected body parts, one or two."
"Just like this one. It can only morph its head and arms. And the strength and durability of partially formed ones are a lot worse than complete ones. Lastly, the five senses of complete abomination are ten times greater."
Luke and the other two were dumbfounded. One of them couldn't help but ask: "How do you know so much? Well, forget it. It's not something I want to involve myself in." Just like Luke, he understood that Klay must have a powerful backing behind him.
Klay just shrugged. "Yeah, better not put your nose in my business. It's better for everyone here."
"Damn..." Luke didn't know what to say. He felt his cognition of the world was subverted.
Existence of monsters, supernatural creatures out of Lovecraftian horror, and esoteric abilities. This made Luke both fearful and awfully excited. Luke had to admit that he was indeed fearless but also reckless. It's one of the flaws in his character which is why even among the best construction workers, he has the highest completion rate of dangerous jobs!
Just like that, the impending confrontation between the General of the Army of Zhao and the partially formed abomination began.
With a fierce roar, the general of the army's legs bulged, showing the strong muscles underneath. His figure was so full of vigor that the ground on his feet cracked explosively.
The abomination's two arms and the tentacle made from the eyeballs lashed out. They appeared like a stream-lined whip in the air as they aimed at the general's vital points.
The general seemed to be amused as his figure swayed left and right, barely dodging the four consecutive whip attacks with ease. The keyword was "barely" as every dodge was uncannily at the distance three centimeters away from his cheeks. How amazing was this? Or, how ridiculous is this?
It repeated four more times. If the first one were a coincidence, the following were perfectly timed and calculated!
"He's beyond us. A perfect combatant Beyonder. As expected of the General that purges the calamity class Abomination on the War of Dawn." Klay dropped a fact casually. "It seems the rumors are true. The general had reached the Honored State like the priests of eight churches."
I'll be damned! Why is this bastard casually revealing secret information? I feel that this man wants to deliberately reveal information so others would think that I know too much and silence us. What is this guy cooking by saying all this? Although I want information, not this easily... It feels like everything is so smooth.
It made Luke uneasy as he thought of this. Being silenced from knowing too much is so common. As an adult, Luke knew that you could get killed by this. Yes, information is crucial to him. But only information investigated or gathered by him, and only that information that doesn't involve any top brass or the risk of his being found floating in the river the next day, would be too high...
However, he didn't do anything that offended Klay for him to target him, right? Or at least, Klay didn't seem to be the kind of person to scheme for no reason. What benefit would he get?
So, Luke felt that the details revealed by Klay weren't really confidential or secrets. Well, at least, not for the public. He still knows that the existence of "Beyonders" and "Abomination" is just known by select circles or those unlucky to come into contact with them. The information Klay revealed casually can be labeled as "Not for the public" but also "Not confidential" to the point of being silent about knowing it.
As Luke thought deeply. He realized that he had overthought. Well, it's better to be safe than sorry, right? Too many people had been killed because of "What ifs". As a veteran construction worker, Luke was aware of the importance of the balance between being Brave and Cautious. Sometimes, braveness can become a poison once it steps on the border or a reckless or impulsive zone.
Luke can still distinguish when bravery is needed or when bravery is a fool. Yeah, might he be a fool? After all, he idolizes The Fool, the king of yellow and black, the lord of the fog that signifies the mysteries.
At this moment, the general completed a series of obscure hand seals in a flash. The crimson scythe appeared on the neck of Abomination. A few seconds later, with a sweeping motion that made the very air crackle, a burst fountain of blood splashed in the air. The head of the Abomination was severed cleanly like butter, and it plopped to the ground with a deafening thud that shook the floor.
Luke was dumbfounded. "What kind of ninjutsu did this general perform? Or am I caught in Genjutsu?"
Klay raised an eyebrow. "..."
What is ninjutsu? What is Genjutsu? Is this guy beside me going senile due to fear?
Klay suddenly felt a little concerned. He actually had a good impression of Luke due to his steadfast demeanor and bravery.
