He looked at the plain panel. Although he had a poor family growing up, less privileged, he still had a fair share of games. He knew that what was in front of him was those classic RPG panels that display stats and attributes.
However, Luke couldn't see attributes. Only state of being? Is this similar to the cultivation realms in those novels?
So, what's the function of this system? It mentions in the description that it can turn a temporary state into a permanent state. And turn a permanent one to zero? What the hell does this even mean?
I really lack comprehension.

Just like that, Luke began to piece the clues. For instance, there are two sections called "Temporary Buff" and "Permanent Buff". From a game perspective, what is a buff?
Buffs are like spells that either boost a player's specific aspect or reduce him. He had played League of Legends in the past. His teammates often called negative states "Nerf" and blessings "Buff".
What does this mean? Maybe once he acquires a temporary buff, he could turn it into a permanent??
This is only his speculation. So far, there's no evidence. It would remain as a mere castle in the air.
I have to do trial and error and investigate how it works. If it can really turn a temporary buff to a permanent buff and also turn a permanent negative state to zero (remove the negative state), then the function of the system is quite powerful, ain't it?

Luke heard a gruff voice and saw the general looking at him in daggers.
Opppsss... This is a misunderstanding! He had been so preoccupied with the newly emerged system that he hadn't noticed that he stared at the general brazenly...

Every time he presses the minus sign, the duration of the effect lessens by an hour. As for positive signs, obviously, it would add an hour. But who's sane enough to prolong their suffering? Isn't that bullshit?

Luke smiled. Hahaha! It really worked!
However, he didn't notice a change in his body though. The pain was still there. But he knew that the bleeding must have stopped now.
Then, Luke also removed the negative state of "Excruciating Pain," and boom. The pain in his ribs disappeared. He was certain that the injury on his ribs was still there. Yet, the pain and bleeding had been completely removed. How abnormal is this?
Then, he looked at the "broken ribs" negative state. There were no + - signs beside it. Curious, he clicked it.
Broken Ribs: Your ribs are broken due to a heavy blunt blow from a hammer.
Why can't he remove this? What's the difference between it and those two negative states that he managed to remove?
Well, it doesn't have a duration! He doesn't have anything to reduce or add.
So, the limitation of this is that the system only works for those things that a have time duration.

Now, without the bleeding inside and the absence of pain, he knew that he only needed to go to a surgeon to fix his broken bones.
It didn't have a duration from the system. It means that it really needs fixing. His body won't naturally align or fix them, right?
