Harlow couldn't understand what her sister was doing at the company today, of all days. It was as though fate had cursed her with an uncanny knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her family was searching for her, and if Claudia spotted her, she'd undoubtedly tell their father. The last thing Harlow needed was another confrontation.
Claudia, however, seemed oblivious to Harlow's presence, engrossed in conversation with a man. His striking brown hair framed piercing blue eyes that were impossible to ignore. He appeared to be in his forties, his commanding demeanor making him seem even more intimidating. As Harlow's gaze lingered, his eyes slowly met hers and she darted her gaze.
"Oh! I forgot something in the car, Grandma. I'll go get it quickly," Harlow said, her words rushed and deliberate as she began to retreat. She didn't wait for a response, as she made a beeline toward the exit. The further she was from Claudia, the better.
