Chapter 36 - MARRIAGE PROPOSAL

Harlow got up the next morning still in shock about Grandma Hamilton's confession. She still couldn't believe the woman had been reincarnated too. But for one to be reincarnated it means they died right?

Did Garth kill the elderly woman too?

Did the family kill her too?

"Good morning granddaughter-in-law." She raised her head to the woman before her.

"Grandma, lash night, you said something about Alex being your grandson?" Harlow asked.

"Who's Alex?" The old woman asked back and Harlow shook her head. She should never have taken anything from Grandma seriously. She might be going through one of those phase. In her past life, Grandma Hamilton had been the one to choose the name Alex for her, when Alanis was unavailable.

"Never mind grandma, let's clean you up." Harlow led her to the bathroom and let the maids do their job.

While she was still in the bedroom, someone barged in, "Ava." She called surprised to see the woman in here so early.

"Young miss, your father demands your presence this instant," Ava stated, panting.

"Do you know the reason why Ava?" She shook her head. "But I know he was having a conversation with your stepmother, and then demanded for you." Harlow wondered why her father would demand to see her so early. What has that woman told him this time?

She had been so adamant about dealing with her last night. But it doesn't matter, she will never let anyone bully her ever again.

"Take care of grandma's needs Ava, I'll be back soon," Harlow said.

"Be careful young miss, your father didn't sound happy." Harlow nodded, taking her words as a piece of advice.

If her father doesn't sound happy, that means that the witch has been all in his ears last night, whispering her deceptive words to him. Harlow frowned and started walking away.

When she reached the private lounge, she took in a deep breath and stepped inside it. In there was her father and Elisa, both seated together like newly married couples, eating fruits and drinking wine.

"Harlow dear, come," Elisa said the moment she saw her stepmother. After whatever had happened last night, Harlow knew this warm welcome was fake. It's the trick the woman always used on her.

Most times in her past life, she would meet Elisa to advise her about marriages and what to do if another woman is after your husband. Harlow saw Elisa as her mother, but she had no idea the woman never saw her as one.

"Ava said you wanted to speak to me." Harlow started.

"Yes, yes, it's about an important matter," Frank said.

"What is it?"

"You see, Elisa and I have talked about this last night. A... And we have..."

"You have brought great shame on our family Harlow. Your divorce from Alanis Hamilton shook the company. Our investors do not trust us anymore." Elisa said shaking her head like a disappointed mother whose child had done something terrible.

"What does my marriage with Alanis have to do with anything? And who placed it on the news?" When she saw those news outlets, she knew it was another plot against her. She wasn't a social media girl, no one was there when she divorced him.

Unless...

Harlow smiled. Claudia had been the one to publicize her divorce.

"Child, your divorce has made us a laughing stock in the society. I have received thousands of calls and text messages about you."

"A divorcee can no longer find a decent man in the society anymore. Harlow you have passed your flower age, no young man would want you anymore." Harlow smiled at her words. She knew where this was going, but she wanted to hear it herself.

"So we have decided..." Frank started the words heavy in his mouth.

"In other to erase all of the shame you have caused us Harlow, we've decided to marry Nathan Eagle." Harlow scoffed so loud this time.

She knew Nathan Eagle so well, one of her dad's business partners. A sixty-year-old widower with six children. Elisa wanted her to be married to a man who was older than her father.

Frank had thought about it, but he didn't want to offend his wife further after their settlement. Even if he loves Harlow, he has done a lot for her, it was time he focused on Elisa and her daughter so that they wouldn't feel neglected.

"Father you're in support of this. You're in support of your wife marrying a man older than you?" Harlow asked the confused man.

"You married a younger man and how did it end Harlow? After weeks of relentlessly begging to be married to him, I granted your wish, and let you disgrace our family." Frank stated and Elisa's lips curved into a small smile.

"So me divorcing Alanis Hamilton Barely 24 hours after marriage is a taboo, but Claudia proposing marriage to my said ex-husband even when we're yet to finalize our divorce is okay?"

"Harlow Blackwood," Elisa called. "You know that's not what we're talking about. Your sister's marriage isn't announced on the news yet so there's no marriage." Elisa defended her daughter.

"Then since she's not married yet, I'd like to go back to my husband. Claudia can have Mr eagle. She's past her flower age and is already looking so old. No young man would want her either." Elisa frowned deeply at Harlow's words.

"I'm afraid that's too late either, the Hamiltons have accepted Claudia to be their daughter-in-law Harlow. It's either you marry Mr eagle, or you lose your inheritance."

"Elisa," Frank called and the woman raised her hands to shut him. "We have let her bad attitude go for too long Frank. It's time to teach Harlow some discipline." Elisa said staring at the girl.

She knew Harlow valued her inheritance, marrying Nathan Eagle would soil her name further and turn her into a laughing stock in the whole of Hawkhalls.

Harlow pursed her lips, she stared at her father one more time and he shifted his gaze from her.

"I'd rather lose my inheritance than give you the satisfaction you need Elisa."
