Grevan's piercing eyes seemed to see through him. "Is that so?
And what of the ancient carvings you reportedly discovered?"
Fowad's heart raced, but he kept his expression neutral. "Just carvings, sir. Nothing more."
Grevan studied him for a long moment before nodding.
"Be mindful, young tamer. The academy is a place of learning, but it is also a place of politics. Tread carefully."
As Fowad left the office, he couldn't shake the feeling that Grevan knew more than he was letting on.
Later that evening, Fowad and Helena met in a secluded corner of the academy grounds, away from prying eyes and listening ears.
"We can't keep this up," Helena said, her voice low but urgent. "The rumors are spreading, and it's only a matter of time before someone makes a move."
Fowad nodded, his jaw tight. "Then we need to get ahead of them. We can't let anyone else get their hands on the fragment."
