I know it sounds mad. But something I believe is that when a certain Raven gets close and stares at me, something bad is about to happen. And sure enough, exactly that happened. A Raven with white spots flew over me, almost hitting my head, made a turn and landed, only to hop over to me and stare into my soul. Its eyes were Scarlet red, like mine, though his were almost glowing. A warning. The tavern will likely be just the place. A grin found itself on my face. I brought out some bread I had in my
I rounded a corner and bumped into someone. A young woman with blonde hair, her face told me everything I needed to know. So I drew my sword and stepped to the side, letting the girl run past me. I took my ready stance as soon as I heard the footsteps inching closer. I barely had time to register what I was looking at, four people were rushing at me, each wearing what looked like a thick black robe, all wearing the same pale white mask. But that wasn't the weird part. What was odd was the weapons they were carrying. Those weapons were primarily made of gold. Not plated in it but made of it, each dagger having a curved blade in such a way that one good swing would shatter the metal like glass. And sure enough, one good sweep of my bastard sword was enough to break their weapons, but still they charged... It was when I got a good look at their frenzied eyes through the holes in their masks that I realised they wouldn't surrender, their eyes were bloodshot and seemed to jump out of their sockets, and the skin around their eyes was unusually pale. Some sort of corruption or brainwashing? I cleaved one in two, the stench almost knocked me off balance, a mix of blood, guts and pus flew onto the floor, his intestines were bloated and were more yellow than red. He's like a walking corpse. One of the other two approached from the side and kicked me in the abdomen. It knocked me back further back than I thought it would, I looked down to see my armour had been dented, and before I could act the other had slit her wrists and began to chant in a language that made my head hurt and the air quiver, I cut down her last comrade by decapitation, I turned to face the woman only to see her blood swirling around in the air, forming an orb, draining her completely and killing her."Sir Endyarr, Run!" I turned, and the Captain, Callum, was standing behind me, his last Guardsman holding him upright, Rina standing behind them. Each of them had a horror-filled look on their faces, Rina had more of a look of worry for me. Abruptly, a large portion of the blood rose higher than the orb, formed a spear and pierced the sphere, a creature that was within died and all of the blood-forming it dropped to the ground. Silence. Silence for nearly a minute. None of us dared move.A powerful Vampire was near, only a Greater Vampire could have manipulated the blood like that...I heard of chanting like this. Well, I read of it. In the Endyarr Library, there is a whole section dedicated to 'The Dark God' -not as glamorous or vast as the room full of literature pertaining to research and destruction of undead though-. It spoke of power being bestowed to his followers, power to 'birth' his creations through sacrifice. Whoever the Vampire was, they didn't want it forming in that 'Blood Womb'.After that was a blur, we went back to that kitchen, passing only buildings with no people in them. The girl I saved was slumped over in an alley, I had to help her. Thank the Gods she was still breathing...
