Chapter 2 - The Loxley Family

"Artur, what's wrong?" Lily said "Um, earth to Artur"

She jolted Artur put of his thoughts and he heaved a sigh.

'I did transmigrate, if not this is a high budget prank' Which he doubted was possible.

His eyes fixed spotted Lily with her eyes fixed on him, they were teary and he scanned the place to see if he had done anything to make her cry. The doors by which she stood flew inward and a woman emerged from within. There were some other women and men with her.

Artur had to admit she was very beautiful, even more than Lily.

Her blonde hair, packed was a perfect fit for her celeste colored gown which was adorned with some jewelry. Her maturity was clear but also masked by her beauty, giving her a young yet adult kind of look.

The woman ran at Artur very fast, even tripping near the steps but she picked herself up and was on him the next moment. She pulled him into her embrace, squeezing very hard. Artur was confused at first but considering what he had just discovered he quickly pieced it all together.

The woman was someone was someone very close to him, most likely his mother since the resemblance between her and his sister, Lily, was so much.

Artur was stupefied.

"My baby"

'Confirmed'

He did not know what to do so she just stood there and let the woman pour her tears and sorrows all over him. In the distance Lily stood back, quietly sobbing as she watched her mother cry all over her brother.

He read the environment and on others' faces he either saw tears or smiles like they were all glad for something. He had no idea what was going on so for him the best course of action would be to shut up. He had had his fair share of novels where people were imprisoned or punished when others discovered that they were not really who they appeared to be.

"Mother" Lily called.

Their mother ignored Lily and continued crying all over Artur while Lily kept trying to get her attention over and over. When Lily could not take it anymore, she screamed, temporarily fishing her mother out of her miserable state.

"He doesn't remember anything!" Lily shouted.

When Lily said it that was when Artur realized it. With the way he had been acting since he met her, oblivious of everything and saying weird stuff, anyone would have thought that he lost his memories. It was a good thing that she had said that because he knew nothing else to say and the truth was that he really did not know anything about the world he was present in.

'Good job Lily, you're a lifesaver'

Her mother loosened her on Artur and turned her head in response to Lily's outburst. Lily's eyes were overflowing this time.

"What did you say?" Their mother asked.

Lily was no longer sobbing but was wailing. She knelt down head bowed and let out the tears. Artur felt bad for her but there was nothing he could do.

Better safe than sorry.

"Artur is fine now, no signs of his illness but-but-but-"

"But what?"

"H-h-he can't remember anything. I thought he might have been in the fields because he always admired that place so I went to check. When I got there he was running down a hill towards me but when he got to me he could not remember anything"

'Ah, so former Artur was really ill. Was it terminal because I don't want to die of a terminal illness'

Their mother turned her face back to Artur and she shakily readjusted his drooping hair so that it was behind his ears. She wanted to see his face clearly while fer facial muscles battled over the idea of either producing a smile or a frown.

Her eyes spoke sorrow.

"That's good"

'What?'

"What?"

Both brother and sister were astonished by what their mother said. Was it normal for a mother to be happy if their child lost their memories in this world or in any world at all?

'She must have her reasons for saying that, right?'

"Mother, what are you saying?"

"That's good"

"What?"

"Wasn't I clear enough?" Their mother retorted with a stern tone. Her facial expression had changed from sorrowful into a very serious one "I said that it's good that way" She added and wiped all the tears from her face, sniffing.

"My son doesn't need all those memories of that time of pain. As long as he's fine and here that's all that matters. If the heavens are behind this then I'm very grateful to them because now I can raise my child the way I want to"

Artur checked himself out again. In this body how old was he? Probably between seven and nine? The clothes he was wearing were fancier than what Lily and his mother wore. She must have really loved her son but he was now dead with a stranger in his body. Artur must have succumbed to illness in the fields.

'I'm sorry Artur, for stealing your life. In return I will make sure to take care of your body and family for you'

He came to terms with it rather quickly. He was in another world with a new family and had no idea what had happened to his old one. No matter how hard he tried he could not bring up any memories of events leading up to when he woke in the fields.

'I miss my family though'

His mother stroked his face gently and kissed his forehead.

"My name is Vivian and I am your mother, you can call me mommy" She said "What is your name?"

Artur paused for a second. He had just realized that he the former owner of the body shared the same name. "I'm Artur"

"Yes that's right, you're Artur. That is your sister, Lily" Vivian said with her hands pointed at his sister. Artur grinned and so did his mother and sister. "Your father is not home right now but I am very sure that he will be back soon"

"Is my father a baron?"

"Why how brilliant of you. Your father is a baron"

"So you are a baroness? Yes my boy, I am. My baby is so intelligent" Vivian replied "Someone go fetch the physician"

"Yes, lady Loxley"

Vivian took Artur's hand and she guided him to the mansion "Come my child"

Artur followed her quietly toward the building and inside. As he walked over the threshold, he felt something like a wave move through his body but had no idea what it was. His mother was smiling and he could not help but smile back at her.

"Artur, welcome to the Loxley family"
