Chapter 1 - Chain of Duty

 Chains of Duty

 Chapter 1

My gazes point upon the beast motionless body lying upon the ground, the scent of blood expressing the one who came on top, a hunter hunted it's prey. The beast wounds poured it's blood, coating the ground with its own blood, suddenly the deep shade night sky let out a loud cry, rain drops fall upon myself, the beast and the ground as well, the beast blood and the rain mixed together as I myself couldn't be bothered as I eliminated the threat.

I Koduko was the first creation of god, giving me a mission to watch upon the world from any threat, I must keep my gazes focus upon the world judging if they deemed to be threat towards the equilibrium, I will without hesitate remove any being that deemed to break the equilibrium to god order, until my last breath I will continue to keep my gazes upon the world.

Honestly, why has god given me this mission, why must I be the one who judge if they deemed to be a threat to break the equilibrium. I'm exhausted yet I keep fulfilling the duties god has trusted me, my body keep going fulfilling my duties that god has given me yet my mind tells me otherwise. As if countless chain tightly bound each of my body remainding me about my duties I have to fulfill.

Within my experience I had slayed beings that dares to threatened the equilibrium within my gazes, I show no moral nor mercy to those who dares to break the equilibrium I will not hesitate I simply kill like a killing machine knowing my duties will never end. To others sees me as a monster, devoided with no emotions as I wore my exterior stoic cold mask never, I once recall god called me the perfect being and I must be the one who judge and fill my duties.

Yet now in the present, if god said I was perfect being stating I only need myself. But why I am experiencing this, this foreign feeling wasn't I not familiar the feeling of I had lost something, I couldn't understand this foreign feeling that I'm experiencing, within my years, I slowly let this feeling crawl upon my mind, something I longed despite not knowing what it was.

"I'm experiencing this again."

I muttered those words to myself as I'm completely alone by myself, the rain pour harder then before, thunder strike upon the skies, its noise were roaring like a beast yet I couldn't be bothered as I let the rain coat on myself.

".."

"...."

My gazes point upon my scales, realizing that my silvery scales now replace by grey ones, I was dumbfounded for not noticing the change of my appearance as I was too focus on fulfilling my duties yet I couldn't be bothered to why my appearance has changed through my years without my notice.

-sigh.

I regained my composure and dashed into the seemily endless forest, within massive trees obscured the path disorienting anyone who dares to venture insides. I continue to run as my heightened sense detected various species lurking within the dark, their gazes fixed on me yet none of them has the courage to confront me as they remained silent concealing themself within the dark.

I continue to navigate the dense underbush, a faint voice reach upon my ears I halted my sharp sense followed the voice without hesitation. Aware of the diverse species lurking within the forest as I quickly up my pace.

Seeing a female human sitting on the ground with their back pressed against the tree, as well as wounds that threaten her life, if I hadn't heard her voice she would've died on this spot it was quite the miracle despite her dire state.

***

The sun has woken from its deep slumber, it's color paint upon the ground and tress. I reside at an empty cave, sitting beside the girl lying on the ground while her head rest on my lap, she hasn't woken from her deep slumber yet.

My gazes fixed upon the skies, distracting myself as I wait for the girl to open her eyes.

"..."

My eyes widened, it startled me seeing the girl whom I save from the forest unexpectedly buried her face on my stomach her arms snakes around my middle body gripping tightly not wanting me to let go of her embrace.

I remain my stoic letting her to freely embrace me, despite not knowing why.

After some time she regained her composure and I maintain the a fair distance between her and I.

"Human, I have no knowledge village around here nor cites you will have to guide me I will bring you to where you belong."

"Aren't you supposed to ask my name??"

"...Your name is?"

"Neva, It's Koduko right?"

"Your correct."

I remain silent judging this human in front of me, as well as her unexpected actions, sudden embrace and telling my name as I didn't introduce myself to her nor to anyone whom I cross path. Though I don't have any private information that I kept to myself plus my name aren't that big of a deal either, though I am not aware of her ulterior motives I'll have to keep my sight on her.

My gazes fixed on Neva, taking a sight of her appearance. Jet black medium hair length, orange eyes, her pupils were odd a black cross and a point at the middle.

"Back to my question, guide me to where you belong and I shall take you there."

"Don't wanna, I want to go with you."

"Huma- Neva, do you wish to embark a journey with me despite not knowing the risk? I suggest you rethink your answer again."

"No! My answers still the same!"

"I see..then I welcome you as my companion."

I gave her a welcome as she was now my companion, she's willing to embark a journey with me despite not knowing the risk unfolds at least I don't have to be alone as I continue to hunt who dares to threatened the equilibrium within my gazes.

"Then let us head out while the ligh-"

-Grumble..

"...."

My gazes fixed upon Neva her stomach let out a loud noise signing her hungryness.

"Could we eat first before leaving the cave..?"

"Yes, stay here."

***

After some hunting simulator, I entered the cave where Neva reside in as I caught a wild boar, though I have no knowledge on how to cook it as I mainly eat it raw.

"Your back!"

"Yes, I've caught a wild boar. Any thoughts of how to cook it."

"Leave it to me!!"

After some time, giving the wild boar I've caught to Neva, surprisingly she was skilled at this. The both of us has eaten and our stomach were filled.
