"Welcome to the talent selection area. In a moment the meadow will fill up with talent orbs. This is not a fair competition. You'll have no way to know what ones are good or bad. Colors or how the orb shines won't determine anything. It's all about luck. So…good luck."
The voice laughed ominously. Glowing transparent orbs rose out of the ground. Going as far as the eye could see and farther. In neat rows. All different colors and glowing at a similar brightness.
"Oh and any illnesses or disabilities you may have had will be removed. But not all."
How can you say any and then immediately say not all? I don't like this person.
I shook my head and gathered myself. Despite how freaky this situation is I know this moment is probably important.
There is a specific type of isakai. The one where the human race is forced to fight for supremacy. For what reason is not always very clear.
The voice said it was to fulfill some sort of position. Which is not necessarily something you want. But what you do want is to be useful enough to survive till the protagonist comes along.
Then hope you can be on their side.
I walk along the rows of orbs. It matters a lot about what I pick but there is no clear way to tell. It's a chance but I want to pick one that at least feels right.
I also don't wanna take too long. There could be an unknown countdown.
I stopped in front of a very peculiar orb. Inside it looked like purple lightning. Flashing around.
It was truly captivating so I reached out the touch it.
A blue window popped up. "Do you wish to claim this talent?"
I hesitated but this orb was as good as any. "Yes."
Nothing happened. Embarrassed, I reached out to push the yes button. "Hope no one saw that."
The screen disappeared.
The orbs got smaller till it was the size of a bead. Then launched into my chest before I could blink.
Another window appeared. "Talent obtained. 1 is a thousand. Would you like to view the details?"
I clicked yes.
The screen changed. "SSS Rank skill. Once every hour turn one item in your inventory into a thousand."
I stared blankly. A truly broken skill. It's well known the ability to duplicate is an absurd skill.
The only two limits are that it needs to be on my inventory and only once an hour.
I don't know how big the inventory is or what conditions it has…but this ability is so broken.
I love it.
Just imagining all the experiments on this inventory is exciting. I wonder if I put an arrow coming at me in my inventory, duplicate it, would it retain its velocity so I can shoot it back?
