Prologue
"We were once a peaceful race… of intelligent, mechanical beings. But then came the war, a war that ravaged our planet until it was consumed by death. Between the Autobots who fought for freedom, and the Decepticons who dreamt of tyranny. Overmatched and outnumbered, our defeat was all but certain… But in the war's final days, one Autobot ship escaped the battle, it was carrying a secret cargo which would've changed our planet's fate. A desperate mission. Our final hope… A hope that vanished."
7 Earth Days Earlier
"Cybertron, the home world of us Autobots and Decepticons alike, can no longer sustain us. Eons of civil war has caused the greatest of casualties. Our planet's very core… has shut down. Halting its production of our life-giving Energon. Most of us have abandoned our home, in hopes of finding a new one among the stars. I am Optimus Prime, Leader of the Autobots. We do not know how many of our brothers escaped Megatron's blockade… I can only be certain of this: Just one transport remains."
Ironhide is coordinating efforts to load up Energon onto the Ark and is about to radio Sentinel on his progress.
"Ironhide to Sentinel Prime. The last of the Energon reserves have been transferred through the Ark. Engines are online and ready for launch."
Ironhide is the Autobots' resident weapons specialist and one of Optimus Prime's old friends. He probably had enough replacement parts to build a small army, but Ironhide doggedly refused to roll over and die for anyone. He would fight to the bitter end and take down more than his fair share of Decepticons in the process.
Ironhide doesn't always see optic to optic with Prime, despite their friendship. He especially doesn't get along that well with Sentinel. He is perhaps the more practical of the two, and more than a little trigger happy, so he could be more willing to push the Autobot code to the limit if he thinks it will get the job done faster.
"It's about time, Megatron grows increasingly powerful as he searches for our only way off world." Replied Sentinel
Sentinel Prime, although the Matrix of Leadership has already been passed to Optimus Prime, he remains the leader of the Autobots.
Despite his more elderly demeaner, he has reminded many on multiple occasions why he was named a Prime to begin with. His experience as a fierce warrior combined with his superior technological knowledge is a warning to most Decepticons that battling him will not be without consequence. Sentinel knows this and has been described by many of his brothers in arms as being prideful of his power.
Sentinel radios Perceptor who is currently at the Autobot nerve base in Iacon.
"Perceptor, how long until the city shutdown procedures are completed?" Sentinel asked.
"Nearly finished Sentinel. My team will have all systems powered off and archived by the time we launch." Replied Perceptor
Perceptor is a renowned Cybertronian scientist who craves knowledge. His expertise in Transformer physiology, as well as electrical engineering and metallurgy, has made him reliable in many fields.
Although he is considered a bore, all the Autobots enjoy his presence because of his good nature, ready to help and to save everybody (even Megatron himself) whose life is in danger.
"Jetfire is here at the observation post, notify him as soon as you finish." Said Sentinel
Jetfire, having once been a Decepticon, defected to the Aubobots after sharing sympathies towards acquiring peace and freedom. Jetfire is one of few Aubobots who possess flight capabilities, saving the Aubobots forces from being at a complete disadvantage of being entirely made up of ground units.
"In a moment Jetfire will send out the message to board the Ark, but first"-
Sentinel and Jetfire, with clear line of sight to the Ark, witnessed a massive electrical projectile hitting the side of the ship. Megatron has found their precious Ark. The impact, powerful enough to shake the ground beneath them, let off a blast wave strong enough to screw with the technology Jetfire is working on. Sparks started flying and emergency warnings began to appear on Jetfire's screen.
"Sentinel, Decepticons have broken through Sectors 9 through 12!" Exclaimed Jetfire
"That beast was supposed to be on that post." Sentinel said angrily, referring to Grimlock
"More Decepticon troops approaching from the North and West." Jetfire continued
"Sentinel, this is Ratchet. Decepticons have invaded the city! We need you at the fortress to help coordinate defenses."
Ratchet is the Autobot's medical officer. He isn't typically seen much in the field, Autobots go done so much that staying in one spot is more efficient than being on the move. Despite his advanced knowledge in Cybertronian anatomy, he was unsuccessful in restoring B's voice box (B-127).
"I'll be there shortly." Sentinel responded
"Jetfire, contact Grimlock, I want to why he left his post." Sentinel said
Sentinel begins to make his way to the Fortress when he notices a massive heavy artillery weapon is launched and stationed across the battlefield with it's sights aimed at the Ark. Megatron isn't holding back anything, moments after discovering the location of the Ark he begins to attack.
Megatron's pride will not allow him to let anyone who defies him escape, even if it means he dies along with them. Megatron knows of the Autobot's mission to leave Cybertron in search of refuge. He does not have the means to chase after them across the stars for if the Autobots do escape, they will have earned themselves time to regroup and come up with a solid attack strategy against him.
To prevent that from happening, Megatron sees this as the best opportunity to destroy their last hope off their planet, for if they are forced to stay, they are surely doomed to be eradicated.
Megatron has placed several of these devastating weapons surrounding the Ark. Normal transformers like insignificant in size. If they are allowed to continue firing on the ship, the Autobots will be stranded forever. Sentinel doesn't acquire the necessary firepower to take down these weapons. Nothing can be done on Sentinel's part for now, he transforms and rushes to help Ratchet
'I trust that whatever Optimus finds; it will aid in our fight' Sentinel thinks to himself
Just before Ironhide had began stockpiling Energon onto the Ark, Optimus Prime had ventured into the depths of the city. He was being called by something. He felt that the Matrix of Leadership was trying to guide him somewhere. He new what he would find would be of great help to them.
Optimus finds himself in at the abandoned Iacon Hall of Records. He recalls events that, to him, feel like a thousand lifetimes ago.
-Flashback
There was a time where Optimus Prime was not always a Prime, in fact he wasn't always Optimus either. He was once a clerk in the Iacon Hall of Records named, Orion Pax. As Orion learned more about Cybertron's past, he grew increasingly concerned about the present corruption in high places, and inequality among the masses. Orion had become inspired by the words and ideas of a gladiator. One who had named himself after one of the thirteen original Primes: Megatronus.
Megatronus vowed to challenge Cybertron's leadership and demanded that all Cybertronians be treated as equals. This gladiator turned revolutionary rapidly gathered a loyal following, Soundwave chief among them.
Orion began corresponding with Megatronus, who came to be something of a mentor to him. As Megatronus left the gladiatorial arena for the political, he saw fit to shorten his name.
"Megatron, is it wise to appear before the high council so soon?" asked Orion
"I refuse to let another day pass as those pathetic pieces of scrap metal lead us into damnation" replied Megatron
As Orion and Megatron walk up to the council doors, the slightest moment of hesitation can be seen on Megatron's face as this would be his last civil attempt to obtain his idea of a perfect world.
"BANG" Megatron slam the council doors open. The council members all stand distraught as they have never seen the look on any Cybertronian's face, the look that Megatron has. The look of utter hate towards those who look down on Cybertronian's like him, and those who wouldn't give him a second thought.
He demanded that they hear his words and as they begin to order Cybertronian guards to escort him out, Orion jumps in and apologizes on Megatron's behalf and insists that they give him a chance.
Megatron begins to propose his vision of a just society, and it was here that he began to reveal his true colors. Proclaiming the need to overthrow the old guard with force, and arrogantly demanding to be named the next Prime.
Orion couldn't believe what Megatron was saying, he didn't believe in violence as a means of achieving justice. He began to speak and the sparks and minds of the council were moved by Orion's words. Here, for the first time since Cybertron's golden age, stood someone worthy of being a Prime.
With his ambitions thwarted, Megatron severed all ties with Orion, and came to wage war on all who opposed him through his growing army of followers who he named…Decepticons.
It was here that Megatron vowed to claim the Matrix for himself, and in time, warfare consumed Cybertron, poisoning the planet to its very core. Orion journeyed there, hoping to reverse the ill effects, and found himself before the very spark of their life giver, Primus himself.
Sentinel could sense that Primus had chosen his successor and opened the compartment in his chest revealing Primus had called the Matrix back. The ailing Primus bestowed upon Orion the Legendary Matrix of Leadership, naming him Optimus Prime, the last Prime.
Author - Hello to anyone reading, I'm not really a writer, I've never been into reading or writing before but my friend convinced me to give it a try and I found it quite enjoyable. I really like Transformers and all I wanna do it take a bunch of different Transformers adaptation and bring them together to try and make the best storyline. I want to base this story mostly off the Fall of Cybertron game but I would also like to bring aspects from the live action movies and some shows. If anyone is interested in that I'd love to hear some feedback on this "First Chapter" of the story and to continue it. I definitely think there is room for improvement.
