I chose a seat at the very back near the window, where I could take in the view of the beautiful campus. This school had a unique atmosphere, unlike anything I'd experienced before.
I found it interesting and refreshing, something I thought I'd enjoy. After this class, we'd be assigned to our dorm rooms, where I might finally get some peace and quiet.
Gradually, more students filled the classroom, chatting, laughing, flirting, and discussing their weekends, while I rested my head on the desk, half-asleep.
Finally, the teacher entered the room. I woke up just in time, thanks to a loud noise from a nearby student. The teacher appeared to be in her 30s, with beautiful black hair, dressed in a sharp black suit and black high heels. She had an attractive, confident appearance.
As she walked, I noticed a small bruise on her left leg, which caused her to walk with a slight limp. Above the bruise on her black jeans, there were faint traces of dirt, as well as a bit of dirt on the back of her hand.
I realized she hadn't been present in the hall earlier, even though all the other teachers had been there. She placed her keys and phone on the desk, but I noticed she kept glancing at her phone since she'd come into the classroom.
I briefly considered a plan to catch her interest, but since relationships between students and teachers are strictly forbidden, I quickly dismissed the idea.
"You can chat among yourselves for about five minutes," she announced.
A student stood up and spoke, "Excuse me, everyone. My name is Hans Vincent, and I thought it would be good if we could all introduce ourselves, so we can get to know each other and work together."
Some students agreed, while others stayed silent, myself included. I wasn't particularly interested in the introductions, aside from a few female students I was curious about.
Then, the introductions began.
"Okay, I'll go first! My name is Aria Bell. I love cycling during the day, and I'm a big fan of ice cream. I look forward to being friends with everyone!"
"Hello, everyone. My name is Carson Spring. I enjoy tennis, I used to compete until an injury made me stop. I like sports, and I look forward to making friends here."
"I'm Ian Garcia. I love video games like COD, Elden Ring, Overwatch, League of Legends, and maybe some Roblox and Fortnite. I'm also into music from Polo G, 21 Savage, and Tyler the Creator. Looking forward to being friends with you all!"
"I'm Eric Blane. I don't really have any special interests, I look forward to being here."
"Um, hello. M-my name is Nina Cole! Oops, sorry… I like flowers, I think they're pretty, and I look forward to meeting everyone!"
"Hello, everyone! My name is Chloe Aubert! I love reading, writing novels, and daydreaming about my fantasy world. Looking forward to getting to know all of you!"
"My name is Sakura Rei. I enjoy camping and spending time in the forest, and I look forward to working with everyone."
"Hey, everyone, I'm Ethan Blake. I like playing video games, especially horror games, and I appreciate pretty ladies. I look forward to meeting you all."
"I'm Stella Goldberg. I like money, and I prefer strong guys. Some of you look ugly as shit, and the ones that aren't, don't look strong, so I already dislike most of you."
When it was my turn, I kept it simple. "My name is Ivory Thornberg. I like reading books and watching movies. Looking forward to meeting everyone here."
Finally, another student spoke, "Veronica Mars. I like cute bunnies and kittens, but I don't really care about anyone here."
"Hello, everyone! My name is Yuji Sato. I'm a boxer working toward becoming a professional. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!"
"Hi, everyone! I'm Frederick Harris, but please just call me Fred. I'm passionate about physics and mathematics, and I'm excited to be here with you all."
"Hello, everyone, I'm Sylvia Park. I'm currently studying psychology and criminology, and I hope to work in a criminal investigation unit in Japan someday. I look forward to being here with all of you."
"Hey, I'm Mary Jane. I like getting what I want. Not really looking forward to being here."
"Hey, I'm Jerry Fischer! I love food—especially my mom's cooking, like dumplings, noodles, chicken, and curry. I look forward to eating with all of you!"
"Hi, I'm Gwen Marvel. I love basketball and would beat anyone here in a one-on-one game. Can't wait to show you!"
"Hello, my name is Brook Valen. I don't like sushi, boys, bugs, cats, rain, or loud noises."
"Lavis Pent. I like my style, and some of you have a decent look. Others didn't even try—just disappointing."
Finally, it was Hans Vincent's turn.
"Since everyone's introducing themselves, I'll join in too. Hello! My name is Hans Vincent, but feel free to call me Hans or whatever feels comfortable. I like just about everything and everyone, no matter what you're about. I'm looking forward to being with all of you!"
"Alright, everyone, please stay seated. You all know the school rules and regulations, so now we'll go over today's subjects, Math, Science, Japanese, English, and Physical Education. First up is Math. On my desk, I have a textbook for each of you, custom-made by the school. At the end of the day, you'll take this textbook back to your rooms. Carson, please hand these out to everyone."
"Alright."
I could already tell this school was different, but honestly, this part was boring. Like everyone else, my favorite "subjects" were recess, lunch, and going home. I barely paid attention to whatever the teacher was explaining—I couldn't even remember most of it. Everything was just a big blur, and I ended up falling asleep.
Each day, we covered four subjects, and they were a lot harder than at my old school. "Specialist math"? I had no clue what that even was. The only thing I actually looked forward to was Physical Education, but we only had it twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Finally, school was over. I could take off these stiff new school shoes, put them in my locker, and wear my own comfy shoes again. The sun was already setting—it was early January, and the cold was everywhere. I learned the school had dorms, but I didn't realize how massive the campus was. It took up the entire island! I could see at least 700 buildings from where I stood, and the campus even had its own shopping center, cinemas, cafes, and so much more. Everything on the island counted as part of the school.
After a walk to my dorm room, I found myself in this huge, fancy building that looked like a luxury hotel. My room was 212—how many rooms could there be in this place? But I was too tired to care. My expectations were high, considering how amazing the building looked, and when I opened the door, I wasn't disappointed. I think everyone gets a similar dorm, but this place was incredible. I had a king-size bed, a spacious bathroom with a shower, toilet, and even a bathtub, plus a stunning view of the sea. The whole room was elegant, and I even had my own TV—and, best of all, Wi-Fi. Life was good.
I could hardly believe it. It felt like a dream. Just to be sure, I slapped myself to make sure I hadn't fallen asleep at home. No, I hadn't woken up back in my old bedroom with all my worries. I was still in this luxury dorm.
Somehow, I'd already fallen asleep. And tomorrow was Physical Education.
