Chapter 7 - Stealing

Time seemed to be in slow motion in his eyes.

His gaze followed the projection of the skill shard—a hope for his future—to the coming-down roof.

His eyes fell on Master Evlin and Uncle Chen, whom he wholeheartedly considered his family.

Two choices appeared in his mind: either pick the skill shard or save the two old men. Noah's pupils contorted, his nerves reacted at a speed that felt like electricity.

Tick!

He didn't have time to waste as his mind made the choice.

"Fuck it," cursed Noah, running to the skill shard with his full speed.

The 30 points in speed came into play as, within a fraction of a second, he caught the skill shard in the air.

No one noticed his actions as all of them were trying to escape from the building collapse.

Noah then turned around, pushing the shard into his sleeves, then rushed towards the two old men without losing momentum.

He quickly reached them in another fraction of a second, picking them up like ragged clothes.

His improved strength attribute became relevant as his body completely accepted their weight without any sign of struggle.

Noah's eyes locked onto the entrance, he rushed towards it with his full speed, evading falling debris skillfully.

Some concrete parts fell on his body, but they did nothing to him other than cause little scratches.

A huge pillar fell on the door, leaving only a little space for him to pass.

His jaw clenched, muscles tightened, the pillar seemed to go down in each fraction of a second.

When he thought he was going to be buried under the rubble, the wall on the side of the door fell back, with the roof above it going down.

"Ahhhhh," Noah roared with red eyes, pushing his limits and finally with a big leap, going out before the building completely collapsed.

Everything happened in the span of seconds. Not everyone was as lucky as him or had attributes like his, as many people were drowned in the debris.

Noah's heart drummed, not only because of panic but also because of thrill. He turned around to look if someone was prying on him.

But everyone was either screaming in horror or pain. Noah quickly supported the two old men with his hands.

The sirens of ambulances blared in his ears. The guards of the city lord's mansion arrived with rescuers.

Noah had some scratches on his face that itched a little with blood flowing. Nothing serious, he silently moved away from there with a little guilty conscience.

He watched Dracious was being dragged out by the city guards. The shielded man and his gang were nowhere to be seen.

He wasn't bothered about that, but he feared Dracious suddenly snapping and exposing the fact that he was missing the skill shard, which might in turn make the city guards check everyone here, including him.

Stealing from the son of the city lord was one thing, Noah didn't want to lose the only suitable skill he might use in this world.

So, with a remorseful look, he placed the two old men on the ground in safe distance from the collapsed building, then quickly sneaked away.

"Sorry, Master and Uncle, I have no other way…"

Noah disappeared into the distance, leaving the two old men on the ground. Out of guilt, he covered both of them with his shirt that pitifully protected the two old man from cold.

Only after reaching the room and closing the door did Noah regain his breath. He touched his beating heart and exhaled sharply.

The panic he felt before turned into excitement as he took out the glowing golden shard from his sleeve.

An electric current transmitted through the shard to his soul, like something inside it craving his touch.

Noah didn't waste time as he placed the shard on his chest.

The way to absorb a shard was simple: one just needed to place them near their heart and allow the rhythm of heartbeats to reach the shard.

Noah didn't have to wait for long time as the shard scattered, with its contents rushing to his spirit.

Suddenly, a blue light flickered from him, with electric current passing through his body.

A viscous liquid materialized above him, with only a row of teeth opened wide. "Thundrith…" the mouth opened and closed abruptly, biting his neck and breaking his trachea in two.

Noah lost consciousness, blood flowing out of his neck and spreading around his fainted body.

After his blood completely drained, the blue viscous liquid, which contained a huge amount of electricity, rushed through his veins.

It quickly replaced the role of blood and streamed through his veins.

Without Noah knowing, his body was undergoing a huge change as every organ was coated by a layer of electric current.

His every bone marrow was replaced by the blue viscous liquid while his amber eyes turned lightning blue.

His hair became light blue which lengthened just in the level of his shoulders.

His spirit, which was dormant because he had never run a dungeon, opened, and two cores formed within it.

A screen appeared in the air, which only awakened when one completed their Rift run. Noah was senseless to the huge changes happening in his body, impurities hidden in his body slowly pushed out through his pores.

The screen blinked few moments showing the status of him which Noah had no idea about now.

No one imagined in their wildest dreams that the item in that divine ranked 'impossible' graded skill shard was a bloodline!

Bloodlines were so rare in this world that to obtain one a family needed to have a Tier 50 or above Rift walker whom completed their fifth awakening and ascended to higher world.

Obtaining a bloodline through a shard was unheard off and that too of divine ranked bloodline.

Noah Walker, the boy with the impossible talent, had become something truly extraordinary.

His future, once shrouded in uncertainty, now crackled with limitless potential.
