Chapter 15 - Chapter fourteen

- You're all crazy. All of you - Jin announced as they sat in the apartment belonging to Jungkook.

After much persuasion, Chanmi managed to lead her brother and best friend there. The young man was not friendly with Jieun's former fiancé. He didn't like the fact that his youngest sister still had contact with him. He didn't like Jungkook, but tried not to show it from himself, especially when he found out that all this time he and his father had been taking care of Chansung. They managed to rescue him a dozen years ago. Seeing him alive, then and only then did a stone fall from his heart.

His mother and Jieun had failed to kill the boy.

Even so, looking at his scars was an unpleasant sight. It made his heart ache that it was his family that had brought him to such a state. And it was very foolish of him because in the past he too had poisoned his life by being influenced by Jieun.

- Jin, however, saw that night that something strange was happening to Chanmi. What if it's true? - Jisoo asked, shifting her worried gaze to her friend. - She was really shaken.

- Are you guys serious? A contract with the devil? Such things do not happen in the real world. We are not in fiction.

- I am a person who believes in such things. Possessions also take place in the real world - Jungkook declared, unhappy that Brother Chanmi still did not grasp the danger his sister was in. - And of all of us, you are the only person who can know the truth. You still live in the family home. Jieun only hinted to me about this matter. She won't say more since we are no longer together.

- You were able to sacrifice yourself and form a relationship with her to get closer to our family, so why aren't you now able to pull it off longer to find out the truth? - Chanmi asked, looking at him closely. She noticed that his lips twisted in a slight smile.

- Because I can't stand this little witch any longer. My patience limit has run out.

- I shouldn't say this because she's my sister, but I'll agree with this. Jiuen is a little witch - muttered Jin. - And I am ashamed that I was born in a family of monsters.

- In every monster family, one good soul appears. It's lucky that it's you - announced Jisoo, taking his hand.

- Maybe let's get back to my topic.... - suggested Chanmi. - I'm damn terrified and one hundred percent sure that the contract with the devil is real. Mother must have had a reason for keeping me. I am no longer going to believe that I was a substitute for her real daughter to heal her sad heart. All my life she didn't treat me exceptionally well. I felt pushed away.

- You finally regained your sanity - Jungkook stated. - Your zeal for this family drove me crazy.

- I find it difficult to believe in this contract with the devil, but for Chanmi I will discover the truth. If there is indeed something to it, we will do everything to help her. Ideally, my sister will be under constant care during this period. I, unfortunately, cannot provide her with this.... - he didn't have an opportunity to finish because Jungkook stepped into his sentence.

- We will do it. I and Chansung will have her under permanent care if she lives here.

- Over my dead body. I won't let Chanmi stay with you. I see the way you look at her. If you could, you would swallow her whole. I don't trust you - Jin declared.

- No worries. I'm right here. I would never let Chanmi get hurt. For her, I would be ready to give my life. I could even knock my brother down decently if something went to his head - Chansung spoke up.

The redhead sent her friend a cheerful smile.

- Yes, I can stay here because Chansung is here - she attested.

Jin looked concerned for a moment. His expression changed when he shifted his gaze to the burnt boy.

He remembered that in the past he and Chanmi had been inseparable. They acted like twins, unable to part, even for a minute. One protected the other and for each other they would do anything.

Chansung always took care of his friend, despite being oppressed by her entire family. He did not give up on her.

- Bottom line. I trust you - he replied, then shifted his gaze to his beloved. - Jisoo, you can handle yourself for now, right?

- Don't exaggerate. I already had to take care of myself as a child. At the orphanage they don't take care of you twenty-four hours a day.

The man put his arm around her, kissing the top of her head.

- A little more and I too will kiss you with such tenderness. - Jungkook turned to Chanmi. The girl grabbed the remote control lying on the table and aggressively through the object at the boy. - Just wait... I'll snatch you from the clutches of death a few times, and you'll fall in love with me to death.

Everyone already knew that Jungkook was obsessed with Chanmi. And not a small one at that.

*

The girl was in the kitchen, preparing a meal, when Chansung joined her. The boy stood next to her, watching as she efficiently cut vegetables.

- I wouldn't have guessed that you would learn to cook while living in a rich man's house. I'm impressed, my friend.

A serene smile filled her face as she looked at Khan.

- I spent a great deal of time in Jisoo's company. After you disappeared, the kitchen was my refuge. I often helped the housekeeper make meals. At first, she chased me away, fearing that she would be reprimanded by my mother, but seeing my interest, she eventually helped me learn to cook. I dreamed of making you a tasty dish when we could meet again. All this time I believed that I would find you.

Tears appeared in his eyes. He raised his hand and timidly stroked his friend's face with it.

- There wasn't a day when I didn't miss you. I was afraid that I would never have the chance to meet you again. When I was close to death, all I could think about was you.

The doorbell rang to announce that they had a visitor. Chanmi guessed it was her brother, who promised to try to prove her things quickly. She and Chansung came out of the kitchen to let him in, but they were forestalled by Jungkook, who opened the door.

His expression on his face showed that he was not happy to see the man who brought Chanmi's things.

- Why is it you? - He asked at the outset, measuring Rowoon with envy in his eyes. He had to admit that his height was a gift from the heavens.

- Because Jin had to go to the company and asked me for help. - He forced a fake smile and pushed his way through the door, heading toward Chanmi. - Hi, royalty. Are you all right?

If Jungkook could kill with his eyes, Jin's friend would already be dead.

To show his displeasure, he slammed the door and crossed his arms over his chest, slowly heading toward them.

- Yes, everything is fine, Rowoon. Thank you for bringing my things.

- You can always count on me - he declared, stroking her head. - Because, after all, no one will take my place, right?

Chanmi smiled and nodded, but her face changed dramatically when she noticed Jungkook's jealous face. He stood behind Rowoon's back, looking like a rabid tiger.

- You're the one who can reserve seats in the movie theater - he declared tattooed. - And as long as Chanmi is in my house, you are not welcome here - he added.

The girl was outraged by his behavior, but this moron was capable of it because he didn't know when he should bite his tongue.

- No worries. This is not the only place where I can see her. After all, she's not your prisoner, is she? - Rowoon's face also expressed no sympathy when he finally looked at Jungkook. - Jieun's fiancé - he added bitingly.

- Yes, on Jin's recommendation she is now my prisoner. I have to keep an eye on her twenty-four hours a day, and for your information.... I have been Jieun's former fiancé for some time.

Rowoon was a patient kind of guy, but it wasn't difficult to see that this was the first time he had been brought out of balance. He clenched his fists, forcing himself into a kind voice.

- Asking for constant care and being someone's prisoner are two different things.

- I'm sorry for him - Chanmi interjected, embracing Rowoon's hand. - He has "asshole" written on his forehead. He is mean to everyone.

- Don't lie. Towards you and my brother I am not like that - he defended himself unexpectedly, but the girl let it go by the ears.

- I'm going, since I'm not welcome here. I hope we can meet soon. I don't know your situation well, and I don't know what's threatening you, since Jin didn't explain it well to me, but take care of yourself. Remember that you can always count on me. All it takes is one phone call, and I'll be there for you, royalty. - Rowoon was her angel. He's a great guy, the type of person you could meet once in a million in real life.

- Thank you. We are in touch. - She said goodbye to the boy, and as he closed the door behind him, she threw a furtive glance at Jungkook. - What's your problem with him?

- He is evidently flying at you, so I sense danger. I have to eliminate the enemy - he replied.

- You are sick. Treat yourself to a headache - she announced, knocking herself on the forehead.

Standing to the side, Chansung laughed at this sight. Jungkook and Chanmi were like a dog and a cat, except that in this combination the dog clearly adored the cat, who was going to scratch him to death.

The girl left her things in the middle of the living room, forgotten by the teasing Jungkook. She returned to the kitchen, and he followed her.

- I want to prepare a meal for a friend. Leave me alone - she turned to the brunet.

- What about me? Am I supposed to be hungry?

- I don't care about you at all. You may even die of starvation.

- It's sad, Chanmi. I'm doing everything to get you out of the clutches of death, and you want me to die. - He sat down at the table, looking at her with the face of a beaten puppy.

- Give me a break. If you're so stubborn, I won't even last a day here. - Finishing cutting vegetables, she cut her finger with a knife in nerves. She hissed in pain, and Jungkook was immediately at her side. She looked at him with shocked eyes as he put the wound to his lips, trying to staunch the blood. - Are you crazy? - After a while she reacted, but he did not let her take his hand away. He held her tightly and opened one of the cabinets. She remained silent as he applied ointment to her wound, then sealed it with a patch.

- It would be nice if you thanked me.

- I would have handled it myself. I won't die from a small cut.

- Who knows? In this period, even a small cut can be fatal for you, since the devil wants to take you to himself.

She pulled her hand from his grasp, looking at the patch.

- Thank you - she said in a gruff voice, without lifting her face. - Now give me a break.

Jungkook smiled at the sight of her. He had to admit that she was the sweetest girl he had ever met in this life.

He adored her and intended to protect her even beyond his strength. He decided that he would not give up on her, even if she never changed her mind about him.

This is the girl he fell in love with at first sight.
