The pale blue lightning surged wildly within the confines of the small magical array. Although Lilith was once a battle-hardened mercenary, she hesitated in the face of such a ferocious soul beast. However, as the electric bolts struck the holy barrier I had cast around her, they merely stirred the light, creating ripples that posed no threat to the enchanting French beauty.
"Lilith, just charge in and strike that soul beast with the contract card! Don't fear, it can't hurt you!" I found myself more anxious as an onlooker than she was in the magical array. Encouraged by my words, Lilith took a bold step forward and forcefully brought her palm down upon the lightning spirit.
That ball of lightning, tail swishing, moved with astonishing agility, darting about like a tadpole, causing Lilith's attempts to capture it to falter. Being a mercenary, she was no stranger to combat skills, as evidenced by her ability to evade Snooker's attacks, showcasing that this French beauty possessed enough skill to take down a dozen burly men with ease.
Initially, Lilith struggled to find her rhythm, but soon she adapted to the movements of the lightning spirit. After executing a series of elegant dives, she clasped her delicate hands together and seized the squeaking soul beast.
What a foolish woman! One hand protected by the contract card was fine, but her other hand would surely sustain injury upon contact with the lightning spirit. I muttered to myself and, sure enough, I saw her left hand charred black. Yet, after successfully capturing the lightning spirit, the French beauty cheered and danced, showing no concern for her injury.
I fished out a healing card and effortlessly activated it for Lilith. As she felt the cool, soothing sensation in her arm, her eyes brimmed with gratitude as she exclaimed, pressing her rosy lips against my forehead, then my cheek, and then randomly wherever she pleased...
After I forcibly pushed Lilith away, escaping the hell of French kisses, I vigorously rubbed my face and dashed into the bathroom to check for any traces of lipstick. To my relief, it seemed that Lilith hadn't used any cosmetics, and my face remained clean.
If the Wolf King and the others were to see me, I'd be the laughingstock—what an embarrassment to have lip marks all over my face!
With a faint blush, Lilith peeked into the bathroom and said sheepishly, "I got a little carried away; you're not angry, are you?"
I shook my head and replied, "How could I be angry? I just don't want to be seen with a face full of marks."
Seeing her concerned expression, I jokingly added, "I want to be a tough guy, not a pretty boy!"
Lilith laughed heartily at my words, her smile radiant.
The first floor of the Demon Island Grand Hotel featured a supermarket, much like a typical hotel, but while most hotel supermarkets are relatively small, this one rivaled the scale of a Walmart or Carrefour, complete with a special section dedicated to weaponry.
As Lilith and I entered the supermarket side by side, I spotted the Wolf King and the others, each pushing an enormous shopping cart overflowing with items, queuing at the checkout.
With a grin, the Wolf King showed no surprise at Lilith's presence beside me. Beside him, Milinda appeared to be in good spirits—who knows how many means the Wolf King employed to keep her that way? Romielle trailed close to Milinda, her eyes wary of Jack and Baijing Zhenfu, but she flashed me a captivating smile. However, I had no interest in her and didn't respond.
I raised a hand to greet the Wolf King and quickly made my way to the food section.
With multiple space cards at my disposal, I mentally drove over ten shopping carts, filling them to the brim with a variety of food, beverages, and bottled water.
As I passed the weapons section, my gaze swept over the nearest shelf, which was stocked with large missiles—more commonly referred to as various types of projectiles. A towering man over two meters tall whistled as he carelessly tossed missiles into his cart, the clattering of metal making every hair on my body stand on end.
What if one of those exploded…
I didn't dare to think about that scenario and quickly distanced myself from the shopping spree.
However, when passing the ammunition section, I remembered that my two boxes of Silver-Breaking Magic Bullets were nearly expended, so I casually tossed two boxes into my cart.
At the checkout by the supermarket's exit, my shopping spree surprisingly totaled over two million demon coins. Unsurprisingly, the most expensive items were those two boxes of Silver-Breaking Magic Bullets—each bullet with divine power costing ten thousand demon coins, making a box of one hundred bullets worth a million.
I relied on the holy light bullets, holy flames, and holy force shields all through the Holy Light Beetle treasure, occasionally needing the Cross Holy Gun for emergencies, so this expense was unavoidable.
Lilith's purchases were far simpler—ten days' worth of food and water, along with some clothing changes. I guessed she must have a small weapons cache card, as I hadn't seen her buy any weapons.
After gathering outside the hotel, the Wolf King produced a black Hummer SUV from who knows where—a vehicle commonly used by the U.S. military, more than capable of accommodating the seven of us. Following the Wolf King's predetermined route, we set off promptly.
Lilith and I sat in the second row. When Baijing Zhenfu boarded, I noticed a long military knife strapped to his back, prompting me to glance at it a moment longer.
I had recently sold off some of my belongings to acquire this long knife! While it lacked the original properties that enhanced my jumping ability and reflexes, it could automatically attack enemies, making it far more convenient than the knight's longsword.
Noticing my gaze, Baijing Zhenfu casually opened his Demon Book, allowing me to glimpse the annotations for his new weapon.
The long knife, an ancient moon-level treasure, possessed the power to slay demons and could autonomously attack targets at its master's command—exceptionally sharp and sturdy, difficult to break. "Ah, so it's from the ancient moon series; no wonder it looks so familiar!"
Although Baijing Zhenfu didn't seem intent on reclaiming his weapon, I still felt a bit flushed, mumbling a vague reply and turning my attention to the scenery outside the car window.
The landscape of Demon Island was actually quite pleasant, boasting numerous scenic spots suitable for tourism and relaxation—truly more appealing than the islands on Earth, despite being populated with monsters everywhere.
