Her heart pounded within her chest, as if knocking on a door eager to glimpse the world beyond.
Ivy Green's eyes were entirely filled with Kate Stone's smile; she stood there, more lifeless than a puppet without strings.
"Could you sing a few more lines for me?" Kate tilted her head slightly, the smile still lingering in her eyes. It seemed so effortless to amuse her; just a few nonsensical phrases could melt the corners of her eyes, a sunflower blooming within her gaze.
"What did I even sing?" Ivy asked blankly. Recalling her ungraceful display moments ago, she pouted several times.
"I was just tongue-tied; there was no particular reason," she added defensively.
Kate said, "I simply wish to hear it once more," genuine anticipation gleaming in her eyes.
"I won't sing," Ivy pouted. "You just enjoy watching me make a fool of myself, don't you?"
